Sorry for the dumb questions. I went to the Holiday station to pick up a copy of the Sarah Hughes SI. They had the Swimsuit issue. While attractive, it was not what I was looking for. They mentioned that they would not be getting the new issue until next monday. Does the newstand issue come out later than the subscription? I.E. do I need to find someone who gets the subscription or are the employees at my local gas station ill informed? I would like a copy of this article by Friday. If the newstand issue is out just let me know and I'll go somewhere else.

Ah, if this doesn't belong here I will understand if it gets moved.. Last time at Mariucci in early Jan there was a bit of a protest about the Sioux nickname. We've hashed this out before but there was one guy specifically who sticks out in my mind. He held up a photo of the new Sioux logo and said "think about it". He apparently wanted to direct my thinking that there must be something wrong with the logo. When I asked him if he knew the logo had been designed by an American Indian for the University he had little to say. What I wished is that I had the information about the logo that Ben Brien had provided which explained the symbolism within the logo. I expect there will be more protests this weekend. I am thinking about making up my own "counter-protest" packet to hand out to the protestors with some of this kind of information on it. I was wondering if our "librarian/historian" Sicatoka might be able to point me to this item that I mentioned above. Plus, if anyone else has useful and constructive ideas on information that might be of interest to protestors who really do have an open mind, I would like to hear your suggestions. I'm not organizing any sort of demonstration, and I don't plan to get into arguments or confrontations or debates of the issues with any protestors, but to have 25 of these with me to pass out to them on my way into the building might be handy. Again, thanks for any ideas. Please make sure they are legit, reasonable, verifiable (I.e. something a skeptical protestor would be able to find independantly if they were thinking that I or someone else made it up), and support the Sioux nickname or counter the arguments that the anti-crowd supports. Thanks. I'll see if I have the time this week to get stuff together.

On WCCO this morning (or was it KSTP?) there was a report that the SCSU administration was having to deal with letters that were being sent by 2 professors of the University to high schools with predominantly black enrollments telling the students that St. Cloud is not a healthy place for minority students to live. Now, 1. as stated by many others it looks like St. Cloud has its own problems it should be working to solve (I don't even know if there are grounds for these claims or not) 2. I'm not aware of any racially stereotypical mascots of black people anywhere and yet we are faced with racial problems. Isn't that interesting? Apparently it does not solve the real problem. In fact, maybe taking this to it's "out there" conclusion, could African Americans state that the lack of AA oriented nicknames ACTUALLY be a form of racism?? Here's my reasoning, though I do not personally subscribe to any of this, just thinking through it on my lunch hour: If schools say they have chosen nicknames like "Sioux" or Seminoles, etc because of the culture that surrounds the school, or because of admirable qualities of that people, shouldn't AA people be offended? They could say that no one finds anything about their culture worth wanting to use as a nickname, or that as a people we are ignoring their qualities and accomplishments and that would be degrading to them as a people. Once again, I do not subscribe to any form of thinking on this matter personally. Just following some logic trails through this argument and this one has not been brought up anywhere that I am aware of. Could be no one can win no matter which side of this argument you are on.

I'm not ready for the season to be over. Yeah, I'm an optimist and it has been a frustrating year but it has been nice to see how the team has gotten better over the course of the year. Now, if we can get solid consistent goaltending in the future we will be a force. That said, is this weekend too early for someone to get a little hot, like Siembida did in early Jan? We will doubtful make the NCAA's but if we could manage to make the Final Five, just to show, that would be one heck of a way to end this season. I predict Andy plays on Friday night unless Blais thinks Siembida's magic from the last series there will continue. Kollar Friday and Siembida on Sat.

YaneA could that have been at the Sat night Denver game at end of the season last year? I seem to remember that happening last year myself at a Sioux game, but that is the only game I saw at Englestad last season. I can't place there this happened either. I know it happened in the SCSU-MN game in the Final Five last year, but I also remember this happening at a Sioux game.

I think it is going to be an awfully tough series for both teams. I think 5 on 5 the Sioux are playing teams pretty even now. If the Sioux can get consistent, strong goaltending next weekend should be a 3-gamer and if the Sioux can get some bounces maybe they can even win. I don't predict a Sioux win because they will have to take 2 of 3 from the goofs at their barn and I think the goofs are just too good to let that happen. But the Sioux will come to play. And I think we'll show better than the Huskies did this weekend. The top line appears to me to have gelled well, and are now as dangerous as anyone in the country. The rest of the team is playing solid hockey. If the D can play well, and cover their responsibilities something surprising might happen. This has been one long season. The goofer fans have had their fun with us all year, revelling in their payback for our past years dominance. I can't stand anymore!!!!!! We need to go to MN and if not beat them, at least scare the crap out of them. GO SIOUX!!

Wasn't able to listen myself. Did Denver come to play tonite? Andy must have had a good night in goal. 1 GA. NOT BAD!!! I think if we had consistent very solid goaltending in the last month we'd have a couple more wins under our belt. I hope we can find a consistent, very solid goaltender before next weekend. I don't give us much of a shot but if the goaltending plays well we'll give MN everything they want and possibly more. Nice way for the team to close out the regular season at home. It's tough to accept but for 8 seconds last night we take 3 of 4 from the #1 team this weekend. Granted, if Denver had more at stake maybe things would have been different tonite. That's why I am curious about Denver's effort tonite. Did they come to play, or did they go through the motions? Either way, our team obviously came to play out the season and I am happy about that, and happy for them.

On the radio they said the whole 4th line did not play for the Sioux all night long. I'm assuming that must have been Canady, Faul and ?

Thanks Sicatoka. I tried but Champps couldn't put the game on for me. How was that last goal scored. I feel soo bad for the team. They played well enough to win but didn't. This team is just one goal short of being a great team, I think. And being they are 6th in the nation in scoring they need to find a way to stop that extra puck This really sucks the wind out of you. I wonder if they will have anything to come and play with tomorrow. This one is really just too bad. ####

How about we just go to my dentist. They give you gas just for cleanings (I go 2x per year need it or not ) Now, watching our boys beat up on Denver while high on laughing gas would be most excellent! p.s. anyone know satellite coordinates in case I can get free to head to Champps?

I showed up 20-25 minutes prior but I think I went in a back entrance and saw nothing. Didn't know anything about it until some Duluth fans who sat by me mentioned it on Sat night. However they weren't at the game on Fri so must have seen it in the paper as well.
