  1. Dragon Lady, that was very eloquent. Are you sure you belong here? Well said. Well taken.

Well the goofs pulled it out tonite at Duluth. As much as I would have enjoyed a bulldog sweep, I think this is the best thing. I think it would have been worse for the Sioux had the goofers been more embarrassed in Duluth. You're right Taz, if the Sioux will come out aggressive and physical, they will have a chance. Hauser will play at least one game next weekend, and you never know which Hauser that will be. Weber is a good goalie but at WI and Duluth he looked very very average. So the goofs could bring a hot goalie but there is no reason for the boys to be intimidated. Anyone have an update on the injury situations?

Congratulations to Scott Sandelin and the UMD Bulldogs pulling out a big win over the goofs last night. YOW, the goofer fans are gnashing their teeth today like no other time.

You want bad? "We're gonna burn the gophers on our WEBER grill".
  5. Taz, the recipe for renewed health might be this coming weekend.....
  6. j/k, I saw the Blais kid too. Doesn't appear to be much resemblance but certainly an interesting coincidence. I was thinking the same thing about the pictures.
  7. Now, onto other recruits. OR, potential other recruits? Anyone know if this guy is on the radar screen? http://www.flinflonjrbombers.com/fancent....rofiles Does #17 look familiar? Here's another: http://www.scoutingsolutions.com/flinflon/trevorbayda/ I say you can't have to many of them, if they are packaged the same!
  8. Yes, Porter was good too. SSM played an upbeat tempo, and you could tell they were well coached, and knew what to do. To me they played good, sound fundamental hockey. I'm not sure why they did not blow out BSM. They were the better team. But BSM did play very hard, and took advantage of most of their rare opportunities. The SSM boys missed the net a fair amount, I thought, and that probably hurt. They could have blown them out. Give credit to the goalie, and the D for working hard.
  9. This is a quote from that above article by Saigo. I'm Catholic. His school is SAINT Cloud State University. I think I'm offended. He's going to have to change.
  10. I was there too. Fun game to watch. BSM wasn't the same caliber of team, I thought, but never gave up and like so many times, when you let a lesser team hang around......BSM #### near stole that thing at the end of regulation and again early in OT. I thought SSM got tired because that first line of Murray, Parise and Hirsh take REALLY long shifts. SSM roles 4 lines most of the night but when the 1 line is out they stay for about 2 minutes it seemed to me. Parise really has some excellent puck handling skills, and showed it a time or 2 in traffic. When he plays against more similar caliber players we'll see if he can get away with some of that. That first line really played an upbeat style, they move fast, and move the puck fast. A step ahead of the normal high school hockey pace in my opinion. Murray looked to me to be the fastest of the 3. Hirsh didn't look to me to have the same flashy offensive skills, but he knew how to move the puck and get and he knew how to shoot. These were 3 talented players. SSM has some other very talented players, I thought, even though the stats don't show it so much. I didn't have a program but I was impressed with #19, a forward, and there were a couple-3 D's that were pretty good. #20, #3, #27. I was also impressed with the size of some of the players on both teams. Some big D's. Fun game to watch.

I agree, Kuhninca. Let's start putting some shots on net. I believe we outshot Tech like 40 to something on Fri yet we were widely outshot on Saturday 45 - 32. I still believe we give up too many shots. We need to even those out as you say. We know we can beat Hauser. Yeah, Weber is like 6-0, but let's not forget he gave up 3 of 4 shots in the 3rd period at WI and I believe he has been pulled from at least one other game. Weber is a good goalie, no doubt. But he should not be feared. PUT SHOTS ON NET. LOTS OF 'EM. I am lamenting the break more every day. I am probably wrong. The team might love it. But it strikes me that it is hard to keep the mental edge with this much time. O well, take the good from it. We'll be more physically rested than any other team going into the last month, for what that is worth.
  12. If the team continues to turn around and play tough the rest of the year, anyone else think this might be Blais best coaching job, even though he has won awards in other years?
  13. YaneA, for those of us who could not listen in, tell us more about this quote. Thanks! Sicatoka, I agree, I caught that and was very surprised with that comment. And happy.

jk, it was Tech but after what this season has been like I think we deserve feeling confident. It sounds to me like the Sioux played the way a good team should play against Tech. We didn't just squeek out wins at Tech. Sounds to me like we pretty much handled Tech both games, by playing good, sound, aggressive hockey. The goofers are beatable. We beat them at home and we could beat them at REA. And I was going to say what you said. Sooner or later we will get a home ice advantage. We'll see when but this recipe could be it. Coming home and feeling confident after a nice sweep, coupled with a packed arena that will be as loud as it will be at any time this year. If the team can play hard and keep the fans in the game, we could pull one out. What I don't like is our two weeks off. It is good for our injury situation, but I wonder if you get out of your rhythem sitting around. But it is the goofers coming to town and home ice is in the balance so the team has NO REASON to come out flat. They should be well rested, and should get themselves up for the games. MN probably learned a lesson against Denver. I would love to see UMD win but maybe a couple easy wins for the goofers could have them feeling too good about themselves coming into GF. I believe, however, they will remember their narrow escape in Mpls and will come to spoil our party. I think we might have evened up the disparity in special team play some by now, however, I still give MN the edge in that area. I agree with you that we probably match up ok 5 on 5 but would not give UND an edge in that catagory whereas I could give MN the edge there. Our goaltending should be somewhat even. So hopefully our home ice will give us the advantage. It will be a long 2 weeks waiting for these games for Sioux fans.
  15. jk, you said it somewhere else. We have to remember this is Tech we were playing. However, there are lots of good positives out of this weekend. Good effort, and it sounds like we played pretty decent hockey. The team will have good thoughts to dwell on for 2 weeks until the goofers show in town. Hopefully there will be about 6 inches of warm snow falling when the goofer bus shows at REA so the fans can show their support! I am anxious to hear on the injuries. As all, I hope they are not serious. Man, it feels good to get a sweep again.
  16. Hopefully the Spiewak, Lundbohm, Notermann line can carry some mo. into the MN series. I think Notermann had about 4 points this weekend, including a goal. Good reward for his hard work. One game at a time. Next up, MN. I think it was big to sweep this team and have a confident feeling going into the home series with MN. But we need also to be realistic. This sounds awfully arrogant, being we were only one place on top of them in the standings, but this is Tech we are talking about sweeping here. But let's take the positive and build on it!
  17. It will be a big boost of the first line can produce like tonite, but they need a consistent stepped up effort by the whole team like they got tonite from everyone, including goaltending. Then they have a chance to get on a roll. For now, let's work on the next game. One game at a time!
  18. I'm with you Kuhninca, the team hasn't met expectations, but it sure feels nice to get a win finally. One thing this season will do for us is make sure we don't take winning for granted. Frankly that was starting to happen for me the last couple seasons. One game at a time. The next step is tomorrow night. Keep playing aggressive, smart hockey. Good job Brandt with a solid job in nets. Sioux have a couple solid goalies to live with for quite some time! Let's see another effort tomorrow like tonite.
  19. Goon, i was making fun of myself. I started this thread then had to admit I basically knew nothing about what I was talking about. A bit earlier on this thread I said from here on I was taking it one game at a time. But Blais had this quote so I thought it would be ok to post it and agree with it.
  20. Ok, I wasn't going to say anything, but this is Blais quote from the Herald today. It all starts with ONE game. Tonite. Let's take care of business.
  21. Always the eternal optimist but I really have to think we are going to get well this weekend. I think this team is close to playing very well, and I hope they figure it out this weekend. Time will tell. The road to a solid finish starts with one game. Tonight. Win every shift, fight every faceoff, clear every puck, SHOOT the puck! Attack. Crash the boards. Finish checks. Crash the NET! I'm ready for some HOCKEY!
  22. Goon, I'm not saying anything.
