  1. http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/goalie...58&sortby=svpct Lammy had a solid season. Very respectable SV% at .918 or so, but if you compare the leaders and the numbers of shots they faced it's obvious Lammy was tested in ways other goalies were not. Good season for Phillippe.
  2. I think that's a different spelling.
  3. I also don't necessarily buy that a player needs to stay in college to better prepare for the pro game. I would guess that the minors do a great job of preparing a player for the game, if only in numbers of games played, travel, etc. The competition must be at least as high probably higher than in D1 hockey. Maybe less practice, more games. But that might be what a player wants/needs than being in school and practicing more but playing less, with fewer travel demands, etc. Now, if a player is making the decision that they want to jump straight from D1 to the pros without playing in the minors I suppose it becomes a valid argument.
  4. I didn't take that as a jab. I took it as a comment on the Fighting Sioux Hockey program. If you want to go pro, you know where to go.
  5. I think you are right about this. I think he decided after this year it was time to go, and since the year got over a little earlier he could get a bit earlier start to his pro career, possibly with a better financial package.
  6. I had no problem with the food at Squires.

  8. Maybe I'm selling Zajac short but I'm not ready to put him as the #1 line center next year. Maybe he can do that but I'm not counting on it. We've been blessed the last couple of years with some great, great freshmen hockey players, especially Parise and Murray, and you could include Stafford too. Guys who come in and contribute right away. But I don't think that is the norm. Zajac is coming in as an MVP and maybe he will have an impact right off but I'm going to be conservative in my expectations. I say he starts out on a lower line. I think the upper lines will consist of Genoway, Bo, Murray, Stafford, Porter. Who else is hard for me to say right now.
  9. From the USHL website http://www.ushl.com/
  10. This is hardly scientific, but if the NHL banned fighting I know one co-worker who they would lose as a fan. I know one friend they would gain. (Whoa Siouxdonyms....for a second there I thought that was Ernie from Sesame Street! )
  11. I might look at coaching as the reason if the team had faded down the stretch. But IMO opinion the boat got righted after the WI fiasco to where we dominated Mankato and swept Duluth at home to wrest the McNaughton from their hands. No, I don't see coaching as the problem this year. We just didn't put the puck in the net this time. We had enough chances.
  12. Ugh. Now THERE'S a sport that needs some fighting.
  13. I don't know if it would increase goals scored. But I like to see a guy able to carry the puck a little bit. To me the NHL game seems too clogged. It's like in baseball. Little league teams play on smaller fields, shorter fences. Older players play on larger fields. I think NHL ice is a good size for college hockey, but NHL players with their greater speed and skill would make the game on Olympic sized ice more fun for me to watch.
  14. No, but they also rarely settle it with fisticuffs either. Listen to a lineman talk and they will talk about how there is all kinds of nasty stuff that goes on in the scrum between the offensive and defensive line. I'm sure they could resort to fisticuffs several times a game to try and put an end to things but they don't. I'm not above saying I don't enjoy watching a hockey fight. I will say I would enjoy watching NHL hockey more if it was on big ice and if there was less emphasis on on-ice policing (other than the guys in stripes....man is THAT backward) and more emphasis on skill and flow.
  15. Maybe there is a reason guys don't have fistfights in these leagues.
  16. Some have said Bo may not be in a good negotiating position due to the fact he was drafted in lower rounds. My personal belief of the reason Bryan Lundbohm left early when Panzer graduated was because he could see his production falling off and not getting offered as much since he would be playing with Panzer his last year. Now I think Bryan L was undrafted so maybe this impacted his situation more, but could Bo be looking at things the same way??
  17. I thought you were staying until you won a Pulitzer?
  18. Ok, now that we know the score on Zach, who else should we be aware of? Parise - gone Bo - so far it looks decent he'll stay. Greene - from posts I've read here today there is decent reason to believe Edmonton likes him well enough to sign him now. Jones - so far looks decent that he'll stay unless he really wants to leave. Stafford - from an interview I heard during a game a couple of months ago he sounded somewhat interested in opting in to the draft and/or playing MJ next year. Seemed like college may not be most interesting to him. Anyone else have info either way? Would hate to lose him early too..... Anyone else I'm overlooking?
  19. A friend reminded me of something that happened during the game that I was going to bring up. Did anyone see Greene from the right point (was it the PP?) do a Roche-like deke on the defender, skate down closer to the slot and lauch a nice shot at the net? I was really impressed as I hadn't seen that from Matt before.

    No Excuses

In recent years, while a fun tourney, I've come around to realizing the Final Five has little serious import. At the same time, I would wonder how well a team that has had a weekend off can turn it back on when the time comes. Seems around Christmas time there are always discussions about teams who have had a weekend off taking a game or 2 to get back into synch. So I think if we got rid of the Final Five but allowed for more conference games that would be ok with me. And I can see the benefit of 2 weeks off for a team that is beat up, I wonder if they all would benefit as much or if it would hurt teams going into the tourney. Interesting discussion.
  21. I was only saying I was sympathetic to how they felt after watching their team lose. Misery loves company. You said it yourself. Lighten up.
  22. Stapleton played in that game. He sat the next game against AA.
  23. Congratulations to the Dogs. Way to go Sandy. This Sioux fan is cheering you on to an NCAA championship! Run for your lives.......
