  1. Goepfert robs the Sioux.
  2. I like how they are trying to screen Goepfort and hanging low around the net.
  3. This may have been posted previously, as it is a couple of days old. However, interesting to see the salaries of the former players (Parise/Bochenski versus Ballard/Vanek). http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/3756644
  4. I'll give Phil a little ink since I have seen him play a lot of hockey games with the U18's against both international and NCAA Div 1 teams. He has a VERY accurate shot with a VERY quick release and has broke most of the scoring records at the NTDP. His skating is elusive because of his change of speed which isn't apparent until you actually play against him. He was extremely successful against Div 1 defenses last year and it is difficult to imagine him not being extremely successful again this season. The rule changes will only play to his advantage (which is what the game needs, but that is another thread). That all being said, he isn't unstoppable if there is an appropriate game plan to contain him. Many of the games are won before the game is played, and our coaching staff will get it done. He won't be as successful against UND, because we will smother him.

    Death of POI

Good God! I didn't realize 'siouxsports' was run on a voluntary basis. I was assuming it was subsidized from the school or some commercial organization. It is too good. Thanks to whoever does all the work and maintains the technology. If you need some donations, you should let us know.
  6. Dataflix is not working for me.
  7. In reading the rosters for the USHL Allstar game to be played in REA, there isn't a single player going to UND. What is up with that? Obviously, the recruiting engine is working okay with some of the recent announcements. However, the absence of any UND bound players on the USHL Allstar rosters seems unusual to me.
  8. Interesting article. Nice job.
  9. PCM, thanks for reposting here. I agree the criticism in the article is over the top. However, there are some legitimate issues on decisions by committee and the associated accountability. There is tremendous depth in the Canadian system (reference U17 tournaments recently). We have countered with a National Dev Training Program, but is it enough? There won't be any more gold medals for the US team until we put a bit of an edge on the US team's organization. If we are satisfied with the occasional bronze and silver, then so be it. We will always have the customary excuses to go along with those less than 1st place finishes with the current approach.
  10. This may have been posted before, but it is an interesting story about USA Hockey and their approach to the World Jr tournament. ESPN Article Several player and coaching speculations that ring true, but no real facts to back them up.
  11. Impressive performance by Towes. Hard to believe USA U17's didn't make it into the final four of this tournament with the Canadian talent spread over 5 teams. The depth of talent up north is scary at times.
  12. Congrats to the people in Grand Forks and USA Hockey for hosting a great tournament. This was a big step forward for USA Hockey in terms of sponsoring an international event and keeping the finances in the black at the same time. The quality of play, proximity to Canada and the venue resulted in a winning combination. I hope they see through the politics and understand that the tournament should come back to the Ralph whenever the US hosts it again. Next year the US should earn a medal based on previous U18 performances and others players coming up, regardless if there is an NHL season.
  13. The Sioux are a team which haven't quite found their identity. They aren't a highly skilled team, and they aren't really a grind it out team either. Eades is new and each player needs to find out how they fit into the offensive system the coaches are trying to get them to play. If any of the players read these message boards, I would imagine they get fairly upset with the some fair weather fans and notices of gloom and doom. I am sure the rage is building a bit, but the refs (with their calls) won't let the beast loose. Personally, I think UND is more effective when they (the entire team) play more physical and take some penalties. The competitive edge is there when they play like that. They should have adjusted better by now to know what they can get away with. It may not click this weekend, but when it does we will see a team possessed.
  14. I believe there is calendar, but it is a combination of all UND sports (not just for hockey). Also, if you get a magnet/schedule, the Boston College weekend has the BC and Northeastern games incorrectly switched.
