Greene also significantly reduced his stupid penalties down the stretch. That was another positive. If he reverts to early season form where he took way too many stupid penalties it will significantly reduce his contribution overall.

This would seem a big deal. I've not seen Ammerman play except a bit on tv myself. This could be a real drawback, couldn't it? I would guess it depends on how many "mistakes" Ammerman might make with the puck?

I haven't seen Marto play but what I've read reminds me of Paul Martin. Not overly big guy, excellent all around athlete. Hopefully on the ice the Sioux will see similar comparisons down the road. Something else with Martin. He was nothing special his first year on the ice.... To be an effective defenseman you don't have to be real physical. Gopher fans still talk about Martin's ability to poke check the puck. If the forward doesn't have the puck, he can't score. I remember in the Frozen Four semi against the gophs Clement commenting on 2 occasions about Andy Schneider's ability to skate backwards, close with the forward, and poke check the puck away. If Marto is as good a skater as people say, and if he can provide needed offense from the blueline, and can learn to be in the right place, and to use his stick to neutralize the opponent (legally), I don't care if he hits very hard.

It's not that big of a deal. The gal is on the ice, forgets the words and walks down the toward the lockerroom to grab the words. As she walks back on the ice her foot slips as she plants it on the ice/carpet (she's wearing high heels) and she falls backward and appears to hit her head on the way down. It's actually kind of slow motion and not that big of a deal. Frankly, after seeing it 11 times on the news before work, I just felt sorry for her. I could see it happening to me.

I agree that I've been frustrated with some of the penalties that MG has taken in the past. But along with the rest of the team in the last 2 months of play, his overall play was at a very high level, IMO, and the needless penalties reduced significantly. In addition, I DO believe MG provided needed leadership during that time as well. Yes, I would VERY MUCH like to have him back next year. And I'm one who wondered at times during the first half of this past year if it wouldn't be best for all if he moved on.

I agree, PCM. I don't know why there was no overhead camera. However, in this case unless that camera could have glimpsed the puck I don't think it would have helped out. The replay angles that I saw clearly showed a significant part of the glove far enough over the line for a goal to have been called. However, the question remains where the puck was in the glove. I, too, agree with the call in the end. I just wish the original call would have been a goal, which they could not have overturned in review!!!! Oh well.

It would seem to me it is a better indication of how successful they feel the players will be in the NHL, in which it appears size is a big consideration as well as talent. That's why I gave the example of Parise being the same size as Zajac. If he was that big, do you think he'd still have been drafted 17th? I think he'd have been up in the top handful. Size is not talent. If my hypothesis is correct, it would indicate a talent differential. I'm not ripping Zajac. I love the guy. Every time he touches the puck I think something special can happen. But it's no accident Parise put up 60+ points his freshman year and Zajac just under 40. I don't think Zajac is way less of a player than Parise was, but yes, I think Parise had a bigger impact on the college game than Zajac has, so far.

Draft position isn't necessarily a good indicator of which was a better player in college. If Parise put up the same numbers, played the same high octane style and was 6-2, 200 do you not think he would have gone in the top 2-3 spots in the draft?

Good catch on that comparison. What's Stafford, 2 years older? And with 1.5 years of time against a higher level of competition than Kessel at the time of the WJC's. I don't think you can use that comparison. My opinion is that Kessel is going to make all the other team's fans jealous.

Not much you can say for Phil other than he keeps scoring against top competition. I suspect he'll be fun to watch but Sioux fans will be very happy to see him go once he moves on....
