  1. Don't forget Alexander. Marvin will do fine, I think. The Sioux will be missing some key players, but I have to believe we're still the better team.
  2. Thanks, from reading the coaches show recaps it sounds like he's more willing to be open during interviews than last year. It's a nice change.
  3. Pat, thanks very much for the recap of Hak's comments. Very excited about Kozek and Watkins getting on the board. I really wanted to see more than Stafford, Zajac and Spirko doing the scoring and it's great to see several other guys contribute. Tech is a team that several guys should have had opportunities, so I take it as a good sign that they made something of them.
  4. I remember one esteemed gopher backer posting that Bucky had no offense, Elliot wasn't that good, and WI would fade as the season goes on. We'll yet see if they will fade, but Bucky outscored MN 8-3 for the weekend, Elliot had a shutout..... All that probably adds up to a gopher team that's going to want to recover from being stung this weekend. I expect an angry opponent next week. Hopefully Watkins and Kozek will be able to continue to contribute offensively next week because I think we'll need to depend on more than the big 2 or 3 scorers on our team to get the job done. It will be a fun week anticipating this series. I wish I could be there live, but at least I'll be fortunate enough to watch the games in good company on TV. Can't wait!
  5. Thanks for the lines siouxnami. I was getting worried that all our scoring was coming from 1 line again. Glad to see that at least a couple other lines got a goal tonite. It's time to start seeing some of this offensive depth pay off in a consistent manner, and we'll need that threat against the moron and gold next week. Congratulations to Sparky for the hat trick! Way to go Kozek getting your first goal that counts! Glad to hear Toews was tapped as playing such a good game, even if he didn't figure on the scoresheet. Watched a lot of the WI/MN game. WI is a disciplined team and they play physical. However, they make some STUPID decisions with the puck and are lucky a skilled team like MN didn't capitalize on some chances. However, watching that game I feel better (well, sort of) about being swept by Bucky a couple weeks ago. They are a very good team. I'm ticked at them for letting MN off the floor at the end of the game. Harrington looked demoralized between the 2nd and 3rd period during his interview, and Atherton couldn't conjure up much emotion even when he scored the 2nd goal. They looked "beat". But Bucky kind of went to sleep, I think, and MN found out they had a chance if they played hard. I don't like MN learning they can win if they play hard, because I think that's about the only piece they are missing. If anyone was able to listen to Hak's interview after the game I'd be curious if there was much worth mentioning.
  6. Your fantasy works for me!
  7. I think Roughriders is a great name. Seems a bit clumsy to have a high school and a college using the same nickname, but I'd be tempted anyway. The connection to Roosevelt and North Dakota is a no-brainer. How do others feel about both a high school and UND using the same nickname?
  8. The Sioux absolutely need these points. They lost a couple they might wish they had against SCSU. Tech offers a chance for a better team to sweep. Anything less will be a disappointment. I certainly hope to see the team put together 2 hard working wins in a row. They'll need to know how to do that next weekend.
  9. Third Line A little story on Fabian, Prpich and Watkins.
  10. I scratch my head as much as anyone about Tallackson getting ice time in the big show, but maybe the Devils know how to get something out of a player that the MN coaches couldn't.
  11. Where I come from that's a pretty average wage for an executive secretary. Of course, we probably pay more down in the Minneapolis than you do up there. Still doesn't look that out of line.
  12. That invites some speculation............ Will Kaip be given a series to see if he's picked up his game? I'll say yes, but this could be a weekend to get a guy like Miller more ice time, or even Martens if he's earned some ice time. Will Toews get a chance to play with the big boys? Or does he need to spend some time on a lower line while he continues to acclimate to the D1 game? Could Porter help bring some scoring to the Red Pepper line? Certainly his hard nosed play fits in well. Maybe he can help that line contribute offensively as well. Spirko Zajac Toews Fabian Prpich Porter Kaip Watkins Kozek Martens Marvin Miller
  13. I only saw Marvin play a couple of games on TV in last year's MN state tourney, but he looked like he could be a pretty good player. If he turns out this good, I hope he is predisposed to wear green and not maroon. I know there have been Marvins who played/play for the gopher teams (men and womens).
  14. I'm hoping to see a continuance of the goalie rotation yet this weekend. Tech will score goals. It's gotta be a fluke to go 3 games without scoring a goal. Wow. But they score a few on the road at Denver, a quality opponent. I don't expect to see the Sioux shutting them out, but I guess you never know.
  15. MeanEgirl, why does your zebra need a wheelie stick?
  16. Why is it silly? Seems to be a reasonable point of view, IMO. Although it almost seems like Kup is trying to stir the pot at the NCAA. Maybe a little payback.
  17. Thauwald. He'd blown out his ACL mid of last season, I think. Just got back this season, and then has that same ACL torn again.
  18. Way to go, Matt. Great to see he's getting a shot with the big club.
  19. I say sign him up. Maybe he won't possess all the skills Travis has but it won't hurt to have his attitude and size on the ice.
  20. That's exactly what I'm hoping the President's council gets nervous about
