BSU guys say they didn't see Martin's penalty. When it was called they complained that they didn't understand how the ref could call a penalty "at this point in the game". Listening/reading gopher fans complaining all week about how calls could go against them with 1 or 2 minutes left in last weeks game brings to mind my question: Am I the only one that remembers a point of emphasis being not to worry about the time left in a game when calling a penalty? Why is anyone surprised? I hope INCH doesn't see this post...

You know you don't really believe the behavior of the Vikings football team or its fans is at all relevant to what "real" Vikings were or are like. And all that proves is that you've been wrong all along when you try to make the claim that anyone cheering for or against Fighting Sioux sports teams is addressing "real" Sioux.

I'm listening to the BSU feed because Schmidt is miked. Jones just 2-handed someone and now there are fisticuffs according the BSU feed. Schmidt apparently barking at Hakstol, then Jones takes a run at someone. After Smaby's penalty, Schmidt was yelling at Miller to "Go play the game, I'm not listening to you anymore". Apparently Miller was complaining to the ref and not being a captain, Schmidt was tired of him. Erickson apparently charged a Sioux and that's what set Jones off. Jones and Miller (BSU) 4 minutes for roughing. Schmidt warns both benches that no one but the captains are to talk to him.

That's actually very good. BSU scores, and spend 5 minutes removing the momentum before play begins.

I don't blame him. I hate listening to fans of another program talk about how everyone thinks it's a big deal to play them either.

I'm German. Wouldn't be a problem for me. Actually I'd be proud. And, ah, "Nazi's" and "Japs" aren't quite the same as "Sioux". There IS a difference there.

Congratulations to Toews on making this team. I think he's talked about how bad he wanted to make it. Hopefully he'll have great success, learn a lot and come back even better prepared for the 2nd half. The converse is that he gets worn out, but oh well, chance you take.

I don't have to be Sioux to identify with the Fighting Sioux sports teams. They are the teams I rooted for, and still do. In that sense I have a connection to the nickname. None of us are ignorant enough to think we're cheering for the "real" Sioux. I would have the same question for you. Why do you hear cheers at a sporting event and think anyone is addressing you directly? Oh, and the polls show that the Sioux nation isn't all on your side of the fence like you would like to have us believe.
