  1. try channel 23 ... that's what my comcast has ...
  2. I agree with you on the Parise part. But I think Toews does deserve to be an all star. 1) Youngest captain in the NHL. His responsibilities include 19 other guys plus his personal production. 2) He's already won 2 games in shootouts, and is 4 of 5 overall in shootouts, leading the NHL in goals. 3) On faceoffs, Toews is #2 (of the top 30) in the NHL on win %. Extra possessions ... easier PP, easier PK. Now for the superficial fans who only look at goals, they may not vote for him. But I would.
  3. As long as we're second-guessing on this thread ... ... I'd like to see Gregoire get a couple PP shifts with Duncan and Vandevelde. He has a nose for the puck, anticipates well, and has great hands.
  4. http://collegehockeystats.net/0809/boxes/mmndwis1.n15 Spearing, CFB, CFB. No fighting majors listed. Rats.
  5. Agree. We were hitting and moving feet in the first.but not second. I need more lamoureaux. He's earned a lineup spot with good play tonight.
  6. Given the Sioux played most of this game with 2 healthy defensemen, this is not unexpected. Disappointing outcome, but give CC credit. Gotta love the 47 SOG. The forwards seem to be really gelling with good chemistry.
  7. Tip of the cap to the Sioux fans at the game, who sound almost as loud as the Tigger fans.
  8. The chances don't get any better than this. Come ON Sioux. PS Thanks Owens for jawboning long enough to give the Sioux top PP unit some rest.
  9. WOW oh WOW oh WOW... what a great sequence on the delayed penalties.
  10. you and your real radio blah blah blah
  11. Better you than Don Adam.
  12. Dirty AND cheap is not OK. Dirty OR cheap is.
  13. ... and since CC was line-matching the Rau line with the Vandevelde line, Hextall will get an opportunity ...
  14. Absolutely ... there's still 60 minutes left to play and we start the game tied at 0.
  15. Argh. This is an uphill battle if there ever was one. The League's/Nations best forward corps up against the most depleted defensive corps around. True gut check time. Getting a tie would be a minor miracle.
  16. They pick a "Spotlight Player" for some of the games ...
  17. Anybody who isn't killing penalties should be well rested. I think we'll score now.
  18. Exsqueeze me but I hallucinated again. Somebody said the Sioux were up 3-0. Keep the effort going. This one is far from over.
  19. Great quote from Idalski on Brad's GFH page: http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ "I personally struggle with the fact that expectations were so low here that every time we come over a little hill, people get all giddy and expect me to jump for joy. I didn't come here to be 10th in the country." --Sioux women's coach Brian Idalski on his reaction to his team being ranked in the top 10 for the first time ever.
  20. Exsqueeze me but I just hallucinated. Miller on defense?
  21. Agree entirely. A good way to smuggle in a frozen gopher was to put it in your mitten/glove. Everybody got patted down, and sometimes more, but the gloves/mittens were never searched. Of course, smuggling in a 3-foot styrofoam puck took more ingenuity. Flash of the goal light to whoever smuggled this weeks critter in.
  22. A few late impressions on the weekend: 1) The defense WITH Finley will be just fine. With him taking up 30 minutes, that's 30 minutes that Fienhage/Blood can watch and learn. Without Big Joe, UND sends out rookies in the first month of their career against other teams top-line players. Especially on the PK. I like what the rookies bring, in terms of raw talent. At this point in their careers, I'd rather they not have to go out and do PK, or be on the ice pressing for a late goal. Jones with another quiet and solid series. Genoway, as others have noted, didn't have the same jump Saturday as we've seen. 2) Loved the play of most of our forward lines for the first 90 minutes on the weekend. Mid-second period Saturday, things stopped working. Duncan and Vandevelde are dynamic, and could have had a hat trick each night. They really need to be finishing. 3) First period Saturday was as good a skating and playmaking period as I've seen from the Sioux in a long time. Unfortunately, by not finishing, we left the door open. Cycle, cycle, great shot, save. Repeat. Repeat. 4) #1 powerplay unit was moving the puck well all weekend. Liked. 5) The new penalty standard is really helping Duncan. FINALLY, he's getting room to make moves without some doorknob hooking or holding him. I like the new standards for penalties. On the weekend, he drew 4 powerplays, Trupp drew at least 3, and Watkins and Frattin one each, simply by outhustling and using their speed. 6) As in previous years, a key to how the Sioux will do is how much we're hitting. Friday, we hit. Saturday, we stopped after 20 minutes. That's been a reliable indicator (for my eyes anyway) for a few years now. 7) I loved how many of the 58-59 team came back, but I was disappointed that the PA couldn't ask people to stay in their seats for a special presentation after the 2nd period Saturday. I think alot of people stepped out not knowing what was coming (I almost did). 8) Last but not least, the enthusiasm for UND Hockey continues to amaze me, with a packed house both nights. The spectacle of 11,500+ EVERY NIGHT is something that never gets old. 9) Once Wisconsin gets all their rookies on the same page, they will be tough. We had the opportunity to put some space between us and them, and the next meetings - March in Madison to end the season - will be a tough road. 10) I wish there was a game on Halloween every year.
  23. WOOO HOOO!!! A real fight. Goodbye Grotting for next Friday.
  24. Wisconsin notes: ** Their D really REALLY jump into the play a lot. We've gotta get a 4th guy deep when they bring 4 deep. And once we get the puck, we have to make them pay. ** Their PK looks relatively undisciplined. Sioux PP should stretch the box and the opportunities will come. ** Connelly looks soft moving side to side.
  25. Stoa 6 seconds in 1-0 Gophers. I'm feeling a little better about that Sioux loss to BU, given that its now BU 2, Michigan 0 ... 2nd period.
