  1. If I knew how to tape my stick right, I could score as many points as Derek Booooogard.
  2. I think its cool the way the crowd in St Louis keeps chanting "Let Go Sioux". The large number of #74 Oshie jerseys is also fun to see.
  3. That's the million dollar question - which Osgood shows up? The guy with 3 rings or the guy from last December or January ...
  4. Anytime. Sure thing. TOEWS: #1 star tonight and well deserved.

  6. Meanwhile, I'm also enjoying the Blackhawks - Flames. 3-2 after two. Toews with the first goal to get the crowd going, then the 3rd goal with a pure hustle play. His play so far this series has been a great example of how unstoppable talent can be when it works harder than everyone else. The Hawks really draw energy from their home fans; I don't like their chances much in Calgary. But if they can hold serve at home, maybe make it to the next round.
  7. That's good to hear. His workmanlike style often goes unnoticed. Does a lot of little things.
  8. Here I thought you'd be trash talking. LOL. I just think the Wings play up to the situation. The more important the game, the better they play. Its like they coasted at times in the regular season (and maybe in a game at Columbus). When they really need offense, they do it as well as anyone. When they need to lock it down, they lock it down. I don't see anyone out West beating the Wings. There's a couple out East that might be tougher matchups ...
  9. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Wings fan, but they have all the weapons. When they let their horses run - such as down 1 late in the game - and really put the pressure on an opponent, it is amazing to watch.
  10. Agree. The Chicago game was very entertaining. Once Chicago got the first goal, they really stepped up. All those young legs, adrenalin and just a bit of confidence give them a chance. Especially if they get the first goal. They can't give Calgary chances ... I expect Iginla to step it up in game 2, among others. And, yes I thought Toews was the best player on the ice, especially when they really needed it. He just about set up the winning goal multiple times late in regulation. That said, I can't shake the feeling that the rest of the West is just playing for the chance to lose to Detroit. They look primed for a run, and if there's any team that can withstand a few soft goals allowed, its the RedWings.
  11. Not only do the guys from TSN love hockey, they also really know hockey. I find them insightful ...
  12. WINNER! http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=417597
  13. Could have put this with the alumni thread, but I thought it worth one of its own. Article: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=417597 Video: http://www.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?&id=38963 Congrats Oshie!
  14. GREENE: (v) Three entries found. 1) To cause someone to squeal, especially someone who might not normally squeal. For example: The opposing forward got Greened and squealed all the way to the bench. ("I can't imagine having to go up against our (defensemen),'' Parise said. "They're mean. They're real mean. I've actually heard guys squealing in pain in front of the net. I used to think it was funny. Now I sort of feel sorry for them.'') 2) A collision in which the other guy is fine and you get totalled. For example: My jeep got Greened after hitting the dude. See also: Oshied. 3) To keep your word, and dish out revenge years later. For example: Paukovich got Greened in the first practice at training camp. http://forum.siouxsports.com/index.php?sho...st&p=269565
  15. OK its offseason, and we have 183 days until the next UND hockey game. I like this idea of taking a Sioux hockey player's name and turning it into a verb, discussed in the former players thread. What others can we come up with ... ======================================================================= From STLtoday.com: Oshied Three entries found. Main entry: Oshie Function: Transitive verb Inflected forms: Oshied, Oshieing 1. to destroy obstacles with reckless abandon (see: Rick Nash). example: In one episode of Mythhbusters, the hosts totally oshied a cement truck using C-4. 2. to overcome insurmountable odds by sheer will alone. example: Whether you agree with Barack Obama's politics or not, no one can deny he oshied his way to the presidency. 3. to steal the heart of a young woman in the greater St. Louis area. example: My girlfriend confessed to me that my best friend had oshied her.
  16. The Chicago Blackhawks clinched a spot in the playoffs tonight. I'll give you 3 guesses as to who scored the GWG, and the first 2 don't count. http://www.nhl.com/ice/boxscore.htm?id=200...vid=DL|NHL|Home Toews: the legend grows. Edit: With the Nashville loss, St Louis remains in 8th place in the West. I guess dinner next time is on Oshie.
  17. As it relates to 2009 flooding, yes. As it relates to 2009 NCAA hockey, no.
  18. Well, it was an inspiring end to an otherwise rotten weekend. Bemidji State didn't just win, they dominated. Congratulations Beavers!
  19. Lacrosse = Cricket with timeouts. It could go on for days. After 5 OT they stop and have high tea.
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if the West Regional Final is 1-0 or 2-1. Both teams are normally good in their own zone and have good goaltending, and they don't press particularly hard on the forecheck.
  21. Sorry. I suggest you go to St Cloud instead. LOL.
  22. I just love how other schools have reacted to drawing UND (or not drawing us) in the NCAA's. Remember last year? Michigan was reacting "YES! We don't have to play effing North Dakota ..." This program has earned a psychological edge over the decades. UND has the best winning percentage all-time in NCAA play, and you can bet that will be a factor in UNH's head. Especially if we can get the first goal Saturday.
  23. Oh yeah, I talked to some of those too. It was fun, in a torturous sort of way.
  24. Fans who follow the game closely enough to realize there's a selection show will know the outcome.
  25. Put an average goaltender behind that Hawks team and they are a final-four team ... conference finals. As is, I think they are no better than 50-50 to win that first round series, and a second round is unlikely. If they can get into the depth of the playoffs, all those young legs get to be an advantage, but I don't see it happening. That said, I like New Jersey and Detroit at this junction. Mix of veterans and young legs, proven goaltending, balanced scoring, good checking line.
