View from the lower bowl (2): Blake is the real deal and soooooo much fun to watch already. James did not get the same amount of chance as the other freshies tonight, I want to see him more on Saturday! Honestly, I did not see any defensive lapses at all tonight. If defense wins championships, then we are in an amazing spot early in the year! DeRidder looks good in the black pads! Man, he looks comfortable and loose on the ice. Love it. Matteo will net one soon. He look like a different player from last year, and I really like what he brings. Gonna be a closer game tonight, but a sweep is definitely in the cards!

Thoughts from section 103: I am in the lower bowl this year, and I love to watch and analyze hockey. Here are my thoughts from the Exhibition opener. 1. Kleven is 99.89% NHL ready and really fun to watch. His size and strength cause some offhand penalties at times, but I will take it. 2. The freshies seem to be in their element, although it is just Manitoba. (James) has a great motor, (McLaughlin) is a great puck handler and creates, creates, creates - I am excited to follow him, (Blake) as advertised, (Strinden) surprised me with his physical play and readiness.. excited to see them all grow this year. 3. I missed watching Moore and Bast. 4. Gaber pushes things a little too much still, but with the right line mates he will continue to flourish. 5. Great to see Hain back. Sidorski is large. Ness is better. Schmaltz will be top 3 in scoring.

These guys are young, young. No one on here can tell me they know where in our College Hockey lineup these youngsters will fall! Some will stay the same (C), some may drastically improve and become elite (A and B), and some will drop off the radar and, more than likely, not go the college route. Our recruitment staff does the best they can to find those that will excel and year after year we can come up with a damn competitive hockey team. I am more than pleased with how well we do, and I love to follow all these KIDS young careers as they make a path toward UND, or not!
