I think they need a coach from outside the UND family and embraces the Fighting Hawks name. Also the players don't address the coach by his nickname. They need a new culture based on the new name and a new focus.

Our fanbase needs to grow up and accept the name Fighting Hawks. And that "culture" starts with Berry.

Chaves had already picked Sather before interviewing the other finalists. Herbst should have been the guy then and before Jones was hired. IMHO if that would have happened we wouldn't be having this conversation now.

A classic example is the Potulny boys. Both played football at RR and hockey. Grant (I believe) played his whole high school career then 2 years of juniors and Ryan left after his sophomore year. I don't know the dynamics behind it. Maybe the ultimate goal was so they could play together in college. Either way both made it to a major program.

Mike Jacobs article in GF Herald today asks some critical questions. One question had to do with reinstating women's hockey. A couple things he forgot to address was how to come up with 2 million dollars to fund it and how to improve attendance. He failed to inform readers about the whole scenario.

Two HOF coaches were relieved of their jobs for having more success than Jones. If Jones was around for 10 more years I doubt he would be mentioned as one of the all-time greats at UND.
