I don't know if anyone else heard, or even if this is a proper place to post this tidbit, but on PA's show this morning Kevin Gorg said that after watching last weekend's thrashing of the Gophers, the team that really scares him right now is the Sioux. He was quite effusive in his praise, and made reference to championship form. It actually brought tears to my eyes.

Another tidbit from Fargo Sioux Boosters Tuesday: Dane Jackson made reference to a comment about UofM starting to cherry pick the prime recruits from northern Minnesota at the expense of UND. He said he'd specifically heard that Mike Lee, the Roseau goalie who was just named to the USHL All-Star team, and who is headed to play for the Gophers, was a sure sign that UND had lost its allure to northern MN high schoolers. Jackson said that UND looked at Lee, but once they had Brad Eidsness' commitment in hand the coaches "knew we had our Number 1 goaltender". Not meant to be a knock on Mike Lee, merely to point out the confidence Hak et al had in Eidsness before he set foot on campus.

Poor guy just doesn't realize he'll never be an NHL defenseman.

IIRC coaches can't comment at all on a recruit, nor one who has "verballed". Only after a national letter of intent is signed can official comments be made.

Yeah. I tried to grab Jackson after the luncheon but he scooted out of there pretty fast.

Jackson was pretty coy about the whole deal. It sounded to me like they didn't mind so much that the fourth one got away.

I kinda like the ring of that. How would that go on a sweatshirt? Maybe too long a word for a cap.

Dane said at Fargo Sioux Boosters that they had four kids in last weekend for visits. Two verballed on the spot, one went home and called back to verbal. He, obviously, didn't say who. He said Cary and Hak asked why the kid who left without committing didn't verbal while in Grand Forks. Jackson said the kid promised his mother he wouldn't commit without talking to her.

Only one tough road series left. Two toughies at home. Time to make some hay.

Incredible game. I have to admit that I fully expected the Gophers to kick the home teams azz tonight. I was obviously pleasantly surprised. I've not seen a Sioux team play with that kind of hop, that level of intensity, for a long, long time. There simply was no contest from the opening drop of the puck. But you've really got to quit all the hating on Stoa: that is a very, very talented hockey player. He's got the size, the hands and the speed to be a real force at the next level. He is deserving of every word of praise heaped on him. I'm thinking Saturday will be a lot closer checking, a lot chippier game. The gloves will drop and we might see some DQs. If this is the real Sioux team I wonder why the heck Hakstol kept it under wraps for three months.

Osh still looks like he's about 14! I hope the Blues make the playoffs; I'd like to see his attempt at a beard.
