Even if it is a player attitude/culture issue, its the coaching staffs job to fix it.

True.  The coaching staff is 100% culpable with this.  This is Bubba's 4th season.  There is zero excuse for the lack of depth and for how this team is executing.  Injuries are part of the game and you need to have the depth to overcome them.

I do feel bad for the seniors this year that helped build what is a strong program moving forward. This isn't the way they wanted it to end, I truly believe this was a perfect storm of injuries that will cause this to be a 6-5 / 5-6 team. This will end up a blip on a very successful FCS team moving forward.

I think the seniors are a big part of the problem.  This team is once again not ready to play.  It looks as though there is no leadership in the locker room whatsoever.

  3. This game and the season so far reminds me a lot of the 2002 team unfortunately.   That team came in with extremely high expectations, had key injuries early that made us extremely young at LB and DB, and also to be frank had an unfocused offseason after the national championship, and approached too many games with an attitude that we just had to show up to win.  We were beat down at home by Central Washington early in the season, didn't beat anyone who was any good (UNC, UNO) but did beat NDSU, SDSU, and USD who were all terrible that season.  We also lost games to Mankato and Augustana who were far less talented than us. We finished at 5-6 and the upcoming offseason the coaches pushed us as hard as any offseason during my career there.  It was the type of offseason that could have made or broken the program.  Fortunately, it re-focused the team and we were playing for a national championship again in 2003.

I hope I'm wrong on this but there are just too many similarities right now.

If someone gives UND for  Phase II just don't say anything about until the time is right.

Why do the Lamoreaux twins get to tell private donors what to do with their money?  They are not that important.

They will also have a lot of the print and TV media establishment in their pocket.  That, along with a social media campaign, worked very effectively against USA Hockey.  Granted, they also had a boycott at their disposal in that dispute, but they still "won" the battle by obfuscating the facts and by playing the gender-equity card.  I wouldn't underestimate the situation.  The propaganda needs to be countered with facts and reality.

Then UND should go with the Sicatoka approach.  Basically say that due to the state legislature, ND doesn't have enough funds to clear the roads or to prevent home bound old people from starving in their houses (Meals on Wheels cuts) so it doesn't have enough money to finance women's hockey.

im guessing the lawyers have dictated UND's quiet response, eh?

UND really doesn't need to do anything.   People overestimate the effectiveness of a social media campaign.  The Lammy twins aren't even coming up with a plan to help defray the costs.  They are going to tweet and facebook about it and somehow that's supposed to convince UND to cut $2 million in costs someplace else.

    Roster sizes? Similar.

Difference? The potential for a gate. <-- There's real revenue; and as the sport grows, camp revenues. (Don't forget Canadians are LAX bonkers right after hockey bonkers.)

But now is not the right time. The house must be put in order first.

I don't get why you think UND would generate revenue out of this.  The market that you keep citing as a potential market for players and fans (MSP) just had a professional lacrosse team fold only two years ago (the Swarm).  If they can't make it cash flow, why would a program at UND be any different?  Like women's hockey, there is a reason that most institutions won't touch lacrosse with a ten foot pole.  There is no market there.

  8. I know I'm going to get flamed for this but has it occurred to North Dakotans that they could avoid this boom/ bust cycle if they'd pay higher state income tax rate than 2.9%? At what point does the state government just admit that there is a base level of services that North Dakotans desire (universities that function, highways without potholes, etc.) and then come up with a plan to raise that revenue that isn't entirely dependent on the price of a volatile commodity?

Thats sad, its not like the vote was 269-269 with 1 vote left. Trump won fair and square, they need to go home and think about what went wrong and how to make it right in 4 years. What went wrong was Debbie Wassermann-Schultz blackballing Bernie off the ticket in favor of Hillary. They should be protesting her (Schultz) not Trump. I didn't vote for Trump, but I also am not going to go out and protest about him winning. Lets see what he does starting Jan, 20, and take it from there.

It's looking like he's going to lose the popular vote by 2 million votes and in his first 9 days he's appointed a white nationalist as his chief strategist, an Islamophobe who most in the national security establishment view as a likely Russian spy as his national security advisor, and had a surrogate go on TV and cite the internment of Japanese citizens during WWII as a good historical precedent for setting up a national registry of Muslims.  It seems like the concerns of these protestors are much more legitimate than a bunch of white guys taking over a wildlife refuge because they don't want to pay grazing fees.

  10. So Dalrymple is going to use military and police forces to attack, beat and arrest unarmed women and children to protect his personal investment in this pipeline.  I guess we can officially start referring to the state of ND as a third world petro state.

Pretty dumb statement to make....is his tenure going to be a short one? Otherwise it would be more wise to say "we might take a look at options down the line if we find sponsoring 20 sports isn't a long term solution, but right now we are dedicated to making it work."

Nah, instead it was basically,  "I'm not going to look at this issue ever again, as far as I'm concerned while at UND."

Looking at Kennedy's resume, it's pretty obvious he is a short-timer.  His entire career is made up of short mediocre and unimpressive stints in leadership positions.  Taking that into consideration this decision isn't surprising.

UNi is being judged based on the past and this is garbage. The only team that remotely deserves that right is NDSU...5 strait Nattys will do that.

UNi plays Missery State this week, they will win and I am sure they will rocket up the polls. Pathetic.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if they lose to Missouri State.  This UNI team is even worse than their record.  If they win more than 1-2 games the rest of the way it's actually a testament to how weak the MVFC really is as they are incapable of playing anything resembling football on offense right now.

Can you point me to where this is happening?

Mainly on AnygivenSaturday.  It shouldn't matter but they have a poll that's actually given credence when it comes time for playoff selections.  IMO there isn't anything more Mickey Mouse than putting stock in fan polls but apparently the NCAA feels that's appropriate for FCS.

Mentioned this B4. The Raplh owns the building and manages the building, not the soil. UND get's the building after the 30 years and with that the Ralph management dissloves.  The sport teams are UND's. There has to be some kind of an agreement to make all this work, which seems to be kept from the public. I've heard from the beginning that this building was built to house UND men's and women's hockey. We didn't even have women's hockey yet. Getting ride of women's hockey may not even be an option for 14+ years. It does help with Title IX.

That may be so but typically when agreements have adverse impacts to both parties they are changed or ignored.  I don't think either REA or UND would sue the other party for dropping women's hockey if ultimately it is beneficial to both parties.

Oh, so you know exactly what went down?

It says right in the article that "charges were dropped by the complainant".  That would certainly imply they were initially brought.

It doesn't take much to infer that the girl who was locked out of the room wasn't OK with this but I guess some people can't admit that racial harassment exists unless it personally happens to them.

The girl who was locked out of her room refused to press charges. Perhaps she wasn't as upset by what her roommates did as her "friends" were.

She had to have initially pressed charges if the UPD began an investigation.  Why she withdrew them is up for speculation but she obviously wasn't fine with this initially.

It's an interesting decision by Kennedy.  I wonder if you can still be kicked out of the dorms for playing your music too loudly since, apparently, racially harassing your neighbor is now acceptable.

If the twitter ragers were only shaming the girls who posted the dumb picture, I might agree with you.  But they're calling for these girls to be expelled from a public university and they've already had success in getting students expelled from other universities.  That's not a battle of free speech vs free speech.

The picture indicates a lot worse behavior than just posting something stupid online.  From all appearances their locking another student out of a campus housing facility that may or may not be that student's personal residence and using that person's own personal property to post a harassing photograph.  That really elevates this to a whole different level of harassment.

  18. I think this thread highlights the crybaby culture that's taken over conservatism.  You guys basically want to do or say whatever you want with zero repercussions while at the same time enforcing extreme consequences on those who disagree with you (i.e Kaepernick, Oxbow looking to fire the UND instructor).   These girls could have avoided this by simply not being terrible human beings.  As a white male, I've never been labeled a racist or misogynist and I attribute that to the fact that I try not to do racist or misogynistic things.  It's simple as that.

In this country your largely have the right to say whatever you want and the government can't punish you for it.  If  you're going to use that right to tell offensive jokes that aren't very funny, bully or taunt others, or post racist rants online against people who are different from you then you can't expect others to not use their rights to free speech and free association to condemn or ostracize you.  You can call them hyper sensitive if you want, but really you're the one's who are being overly sensitive.  You're basically starting a fight and then complaining when someone fights back.  You're not 7 years olds any more.  It's time to grow up.
