  1. True, but he'll be a year older & the 20-25 goals he could reasonably be expected to score will be tough to replace. Silver lining is that Jackson should have a locker room full of players who are fully invested in the team & it's leadership; not 4-5 guys who are just going through the motions.
  2. Hearsay. If that's the case, he would have been poached before he ever set foot on campus. Many here are making unsubstantiated claims. As soon as Boisvert says that money is the reason, or a BC/BU collective admits as much, I'll believe it.
  3. If money is such a defining factor for Boisvert & other schools' alumni have supposedly wealthier donors than UND (which I don't believe for a second), then why did Boisvert bother coming to UND in the first place? Nobody knows here with certainty why any of these players are coming or going, unless you're the actual player or someone in his circle.
  4. To anyone's knowledge, has a 1st round pick for another team ever entered the portal?
  5. Anyone can claim anything here, whether it's credible or not is another matter.
  6. Curious how you know this information as Schlossman hasn't reported this yet. Where did you read or hear this?
  7. Why not just do it now?
  8. Still trying to wrap my mind around keeping Goehring. This team needs an infusion of fresh ideas & the new coach runs it back with the same crew, at least that's what it sounds like at this point.
  9. A couple of interesting points from this article. 1) Jackson will no doubt be bringing in another assistant at some point, but it doesn't sound like Simpson or Goehring are going anywhere. At least that's how I read it. Which I don't get, what great or needed value does Goehring bring to the team? Was hoping that Jackson would have the cajones to part with him but it appears not. Disappointing to say the least, this team needs fresh ideas on the bench in the worst way. 2) And thought this was interesting: "Junior hockey coaches and NHL scouts have told the Herald that UND's presence on the recruiting trail needs to grow. How will Jackson solve that?"
  10. I thought a new coach to a program would just install his own assistants. So if Jackson wants to bring his own guys, the university would still have to post those jobs & his new guys would have to go through the formality of applying for those jobs?
  11. "Dane articulated a very clear plan in the modern landscape of Division I athletics and we look forward to supporting him in achieving the goals that he has set out for the program."-AD If somebody comes across these goals, please post them. Fans no doubt want to hear about his vision for the program.
  12. What makes you think that UND is having difficulty raising the needed funds? Haven't seen Schlossman reporting such unless I missed it.
  13. Agreed. If I'm an AD & I'm trying to extend my already tenuous career, hitting the easy button & hiring the much-admired Jackson doesn't sound like a very wise move. Expectations will be immediate & the team better be bang-on from the drop of the puck next year. Whereas if Herter was chosen, he easily gets a 3-4 yr grace period to establish himself considering he's new & that some players may bolt because of him. But considering his body of work with UMD & Western, it sounds like it doesn't take him a long time to help turn lesser-resourced teams around. Plus hiring him likely cleans up the multitude of D issues in short order.
  14. If he goes with an entirely new staff it will indicate that he's committed to winning, even if it means letting go of friends. Which is difficult. But his first loyalty is to the team & its success, not any individual staff or players. If he retains everybody, it will indicate that he has an element of softness that BB had, indicating that he's unwilling or unable to make hard decisions.
  15. You were saying in February that Boisvert is going to BU.
  16. Just repeating what Schlossman said under his tweet of Eisele & Cole Burtsch.
  17. He mentioned it on his X account.
  18. Schlossman was reporting that Mankato's top center, Adam Eisele, briefly entered the portal, but then his name was withdrawn shortly afterward..he's guessing the compliance staff prematurely entered him before he was allowed to go in, but that he’ll eventually be back in when he's officially eligible. Or, he had a change of heart.
  19. Will you be keeping the current assistant coaches or will you be looking elsewhere?
  20. Does UND usually put out an announcement the day before a new coach is introduced to the public?
  21. Whoa, can you say how you know all this? It sounds like you have some intimate knowledge of what actually happened. Because if what you described is true, it shines a more favorable light on Jackson.
  22. Bill Chaves on Sunday: "Ladies & gentlemen and members of the press ... After an exhaustive nationwide search that involved many applicants with esteemed backgrounds, to which I thank you all greatly for showing interest in this highly-regarded position, it gives the University of North Dakota and me great honor to announce the next head hockey coach of this fine institution. Let's all give Mr. Dane Jackson a warm round of applause as he leads this program back to national prominence. Mr. Jackson, the podium is yours... "
  23. Since most former & current players favor Jackson, maybe Schlossman should inquire of his mother to see if she also gives her son a ringing endorsement. When a reporter gives only the positives of a candidate, without any possible cons, it leads me to think that either A) the candidate is a saint with no negatives, or B) the reporter has an agenda & is spinning a narrative (because hey, there are issues in the program & the assoc. coach has to share at least some culpability for the downward spiral of the team. To believe otherwise smacks of naivete).
  24. In the following excerpt from Schlossman, it appears that UND is going through formal channels in the hiring process to find the next coach, & not vetting applicants through back channels. I thought doing it this way would expose the current applicants to their current employers because of ND's open records law? Or are only the finalists publicly named? "UND's human resource department will screen the applicants, remove those who do not fit the required criteria and then deliver them to athletic director Bill Chaves. Once Chaves receives them, he will begin scheduling Zoom interviews with the top candidates. Interviews are likely to begin as soon as Friday."
  25. From Schlossman's article today: "The quick search has led many to wonder whether UND already has its next candidate lined up. According to multiple sources, that is not the case. It is an open search, which is why so many factions of alums have been contacting Chaves and Martinson to share their thoughts." Schlossman also stated that interviews will begin this Friday. Sounds like the AD is listening to the alumni groups who were urging him to slow it down so the best choice can be made.
