  1. If more than 1 person on an anonymous site thinks you're an ässhole with a strong trait of jackassery, you might want to look in the mirror.
  2. And no one reliable has said UND wasn't a finalist. Try to tone it down a little, the adults here would appreciate it.
  3. If UND was within a snail's breath of landing him, my guess is that Chyzyk would have a solid Plan B in place for another high-profile CHLer if McKenna fell through. That Cole Reschny kid would be ideal & he's from Saskatchewan, so no doubt he's well aware of UND. And if I'm a future #1 overall pick who will be a multi-millionaire in 2 years, I'm not basing my choice in school A because they can give me $100k more in NIL than school B. I'm going to the place that will give me the best chance in succeeding at the next level.
  4. Very well may be true, but my question is why UND was a co-finalist with MI for McKenna last month if they can't afford him in the first place.
  5. Coming from a guy who can't wait for the MN collective to start raiding UND's roster, everything you say here is suspect from a loyalty standpoint.
  6. Chyzyk will likely have a solid Plan B if McKenna falls through. A good GM won't put all his marbles into 1 player.
  7. Next year, which Ritchie at this point doesn't want to completely define, could mean playing college hockey in the United States. “He’s already completed his high school requirements,” Ritchie said. “We will evaluate what’s best for him next year." "Of course, all the big hockey schools have reached out,” Ritchie added. "But we have isolated Gav from any distractions up to this point.” -From an article in EP late last month; the Ritchie guy is Byron Ritchie, former NHLer & McKenna's agent. One can glean from the bolded part that McKenna is just going where his advisor steers him.
  8. What separates BU, BC & MI from DU & WMI is that the former recruit more 1-dimensional scoring Fs & the latter guys who play a 200 ft game. Carle & Ferschweiler are showing everyone the model in order to be successful, but the other leagues still refuse to listen.
  9. I would imagine that if McKenna is unavailable that they'll go after another high-profile CHL player. Because if UND was serious about adding a guy like McKenna, you'd think they'd still want such an elite forward if he becomes unavailable. Schlossman today wrote that UND will probably add 2 more F. Maybe a utility guy like Montgomery was & a high-profile CHL guy.
  10. Is that your opinion or is that what you've heard with your connections? A month ago there was an article stating that it was down to UND & MI. Now you're stating that UND never stood a chance with him.
  11. Next year's team as it's currently being structured reminds me of Mankato last year: heavy, physical & older. Which yes, this experience should win them some more games. But to put UND over the top, they could use an elite F from the CHL who can give them 40+ points to make them a legitimate contender, instead of just relying on scoring by committee.
  12. At some point, UND will have to learn from these lesser teams & overcome them if they want to go deep in the playoffs in any given year. Because if it's not BSU, there'll always be a Canisius or RMU kind of team on the schedule who can equally ruin UND's year like BSU can. Have a Spartan-like attitude with whomever they play. I trust that Jackson will have the team better prepared & motivated against BSU in the future.
  13. UND has 8 non-conference games that are must-wins. As experience proves, a bad win hurts a team's PWR more than a good win helps it. A burger isn't the only thing that gets flipped.
  14. Weak non-conference schedule outside of MN.
  15. Please clarify what you mean by 'loaded'. Try to frame 'loaded' in terms of the number of high draft choices on a college team, because 'skilled players' is vague (ie, Penn St had quite a few skilled players last year, but they were far from loaded). Would 4 or more players on a team drafted in the 2nd round or higher fit your definition of a loaded team?
  16. Brendan McMorrow? EP has him going to DU, unless you're referring to a different McMorrow.
  17. No issue with that, many or most schools are in negotiations with players before they officially enter the portal.. it's when schools are in talks with players of other teams during the season that it becomes unethical.
  18. Also: "It establishes the mechanism to recalculate college athletics’ version of a salary cap and sets the 2025–26 overall number at $20.5 million for schools to share if they opt in to the settlement." $20.5m doesn't seem like a lot of money for schools to share in the grand scheme of things if there'll be quite a few participating.
  19. Thanks for posting this. It's supposed to start in the 2025-26 season. Of note: "In one of the more controversial aspects of the settlement, all NIL deals with third parties over $600 are set to be approved by a new clearinghouse administered by the consulting firm Deloitte. Some agreements deemed not fair market value will enter into an arbitration process. That has resulted in a slew of dealmaking this month between schools, third-party collectives and numerous high-profile players to get things over the line before they would be required to submit their deals to the clearinghouse."
  20. This is an interesting development. Can you post a credible link stating such?
  21. Are all these businesses located in GF?
  22. Some American boys who would normally play in the USHL are opting to play in the CHL. Curious to see which league's talent pool will be more negatively impacted in the long-term.
  23. Appreciate your informed replies. The part about NIL Clearinghouse making sure it isn't pay-for-play is quite eye-opening.
  24. The main advertiser on Through These Doors this past year was First Community Credit Union. Its main commercial this year was Jackson Kunz with a few others. So the 1883 arranged for Kunz & the other 3 to do a commercial for FCCU & then FCCU proceeded to pay them. Easy enough. My question is for the individuals such as @brianvf & others who donate to the 1883. Let's say $200k is collected from these individuals for the hockey program; not from businesses, but from individuals. These individuals are not a business & aren't donating for a commercial or some other promotion to be done for them where the player "earns" for his services. So how do these players "earn" this $200k collected from the 1883 via individuals if they're not doing a commercial or some other promotion?
