2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

So what's your educated guess as to where UND will get most of their needed forwards for next year if, as you say, most of the older CHLers are already committed? Will UND need to go on a raiding party into the AHA for a bunch of Carter Wilke clones? -
Who is this specific person?
-
Preferably someone who will take the offense, which is currently on life support & about to flat line, & resuscitate it with some bold, modern ideas.
-
If there's already such a position, then why all the talk here about bringing Chyzyk in & the mention by Schlossman that a GM may be a good idea?
-
Maybe he already has an associate's job lined up for someone in the F4 or CHL that needs to be under wraps until a more appropriate time. Can't imagine him having only 2 assts under him, unless the 3rd happens to be someone in a GM role.

If I've learned any lesson from Boisvert & Perron, it's to not put any stock in anything a player says. Boisvert in an interview just earlier this year was saying how it was his dream to win a championship for UND & have his name on the wall. And with Perron, his mother stated in an interview that as soon as he visited REA he loved what he saw & knew that UND was his team. Fast forward to today & both of them can't wait to get out of North Dakota. -
Hilarious. He & Simpson are no doubt earning their paychecks during this portal window. Would like to think that they're in negotiations with some skilled forwards this week; hence why a GM already on staff would have made things more copacetic & less chaotic.
-
Many have entered the portal but there are no confirmed transfers yet. Is that because it takes awhile for compliance officers to ensure all qualifications have been met before an announcement is made, or is there some other reason why there are no confirmed transfers to date?

There's no telling that Boisvert would have stayed regardless of who was coach. Maybe he felt that what was going on with the hockey program was too much of a distraction or that his offensive skills would flourish more in a run-& gun offense in Boston. No one knows for certain his motivation for leaving. Don't want a player whose heart isn't in it. If a player doesn't want to be loyal or patient to a team in transition, then maybe it's a good thing he left. -

Thanks for posting that. It's good timing for that release so all those afflicted with Chicken Little syndrome around here can stop with their "The sky is falling & we'll never be great again!!" nonsense. -
True, but he'll be a year older & the 20-25 goals he could reasonably be expected to score will be tough to replace. Silver lining is that Jackson should have a locker room full of players who are fully invested in the team & it's leadership; not 4-5 guys who are just going through the motions.
-
Hearsay. If that's the case, he would have been poached before he ever set foot on campus. Many here are making unsubstantiated claims. As soon as Boisvert says that money is the reason, or a BC/BU collective admits as much, I'll believe it.
-
If money is such a defining factor for Boisvert & other schools' alumni have supposedly wealthier donors than UND (which I don't believe for a second), then why did Boisvert bother coming to UND in the first place? Nobody knows here with certainty why any of these players are coming or going, unless you're the actual player or someone in his circle.
-
To anyone's knowledge, has a 1st round pick for another team ever entered the portal?
-
Anyone can claim anything here, whether it's credible or not is another matter.
-
Curious how you know this information as Schlossman hasn't reported this yet. Where did you read or hear this?
-
Why not just do it now?
-
Still trying to wrap my mind around keeping Goehring. This team needs an infusion of fresh ideas & the new coach runs it back with the same crew, at least that's what it sounds like at this point.
-
A couple of interesting points from this article. 1) Jackson will no doubt be bringing in another assistant at some point, but it doesn't sound like Simpson or Goehring are going anywhere. At least that's how I read it. Which I don't get, what great or needed value does Goehring bring to the team? Was hoping that Jackson would have the cajones to part with him but it appears not. Disappointing to say the least, this team needs fresh ideas on the bench in the worst way. 2) And thought this was interesting: "Junior hockey coaches and NHL scouts have told the Herald that UND's presence on the recruiting trail needs to grow. How will Jackson solve that?"
-
I thought a new coach to a program would just install his own assistants. So if Jackson wants to bring his own guys, the university would still have to post those jobs & his new guys would have to go through the formality of applying for those jobs?
-
"Dane articulated a very clear plan in the modern landscape of Division I athletics and we look forward to supporting him in achieving the goals that he has set out for the program."-AD If somebody comes across these goals, please post them. Fans no doubt want to hear about his vision for the program.

What makes you think that UND is having difficulty raising the needed funds? Haven't seen Schlossman reporting such unless I missed it. -
Agreed. If I'm an AD & I'm trying to extend my already tenuous career, hitting the easy button & hiring the much-admired Jackson doesn't sound like a very wise move. Expectations will be immediate & the team better be bang-on from the drop of the puck next year. Whereas if Herter was chosen, he easily gets a 3-4 yr grace period to establish himself considering he's new & that some players may bolt because of him. But considering his body of work with UMD & Western, it sounds like it doesn't take him a long time to help turn lesser-resourced teams around. Plus hiring him likely cleans up the multitude of D issues in short order.

If he goes with an entirely new staff it will indicate that he's committed to winning, even if it means letting go of friends. Which is difficult. But his first loyalty is to the team & its success, not any individual staff or players. If he retains everybody, it will indicate that he has an element of softness that BB had, indicating that he's unwilling or unable to make hard decisions.
