  1. I'm not so sure that UND admin would be blindly loyal to the WCHA, but a large portion of the fan base probably would demand it. The biggest issue would possibly be leaving the Final Five, but if the Big Ten schools are gone it might not be the spectacle it is now. If UND could be in a superleague that limits conference games to 20, UND could still play the Minnesota schools as well as the Gophs and Sconnie. UND needs to make a pact and work with DU and Notre Dame/Miami. Those four would be the cornerstones of a new league that would rival the Big Ten. Without Minnesota and Wisconsin, the WCHA could practically be renamed the Northern Sun. Staying in the WCHA at that point would be counter to both the reason why Ralph gifted the REA and the move to DI.
  2. Cincinnati Enquirer: Report calls for broad changes at MU It would be hard to imaging it happening, with Miami being a cradle of football coaches and QB's, but a report out today suggests Miami may drop out of the MAC. If Miami dropped athletics to the FCS level, either the MVC or the Horizon would almost immediately accept it, and Miami would almost certainly find a home in the MVFC. There's also talk been talk that Bowling Green might drop down a level. If either happened, that would not be good news for UND's attempts to get into the MVFC/Summit league. The Summit would almost have to add UNO in order to get the six schools it needs.
  3. Kansas City Star: Athletic Departments now keep close tabs on message boards to glimpse public opinion Moderators: Please delete one of these duplicate threads. Thanks!
  4. Drake is a very good squad in a very good volleyball conference (MVC). Will be interesting to see how UND does in the rematch. Of the upcoming games during the season, based on last year's RPI rankings, there will only be a few games that UND will not be favored: NDSU, Drake, Temple, Tulsa If UND can win any of those games, it might break the NCAA's top 100 RPI: 2009 Volleyball RPI Other tough games will be vs UM-Milwaukee, Montana, Utah Valley
  5. An interesting perspective from an English-language Persian Gulf newspaper: Abu Dhabi: The Bakken oil rush could rock OPEC
  6. 15th win in a row Tonight has the biggest challenge with Drake
  7. I'm actually of the opinion that a BTHC would help the growth of DI hockey. - Other Big Ten schools might add the sport (Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern) - With a Notre Dame/North Dakota/Denver superleague, other major schools like Iowa State, DePaul, Marquette, Colorado St might get serious - - Minnesota regional schools will still sponsor hockey and Minnesota will still play them at least in Mariucci or Xcel tournaments - Michigan smaller-school hockey might be more problematic, but those schools would keep hockey and drop football if they had to
  8. Good try but wrong again, as always. NDSU needed someone to go up with them and knew UND wouldn't. NDSU was begging and pleading with SDSU for a year and before SDSU finally relented practically at the last moment (Sept 1st was the exploratory year deadline then and SDSU announced in late August). Are you so bitter because that worked out so horribly for you? No amount of information will ever stop your adoration of President Chapman. We understand: you just don't believe he had any ounce of Bernard Madoff in him. History shows otherwise. Again, just take a chill pill and let the bitterness depart from you.
  9. Miami and Notre Dame will stick together. Notre Dame won't be let in any BTHC unless they submit to Delany's demands and join in all sports, which won't happen. Kalamazoo will likely get a new rink, so Western Michigan will be in that group as well, and possibly Bowling Green. Denver and CC would much rather be in a Notre Dame-led league than a WCHA with mostly regional Minnesota schools. If that happens, Omaha would quite the WCHA also and move to the Notre Dame conference. Then UND would probably switch as the Denver-Notre Dame league would have more power teams, better media coverage, more TV contracts, and would better rival the BTHC. So, in the event of a BTHC, will it be likely that UND and Miami are in the same conference? Yes. But not likely IMHO in the WCHA.
  10. 14th Win in a Row 3-2 win over Gonzaga
  11. Sioux beat San Jose St 3-0. Tonight's game vs Gonzaga, and Sioux would likely be favored. Most difficult match may be vs Drake Saturday night.
  12. Call Polar and ask if it will be on. If not, request Polar add it.
  13. All home hockey games will be on FCS.
  14. "But there's something within the makeup of too many bison fans: they just latch onto bitterness and let it fester for years and years and turn their inside characters into obscene caricatures like Lakes and JBB. "

  16. Agree, that would be great. But there's something within the makeup of too many bison fans: they just latch onto bitterness and let it fester for years and years and turn their inside characters into obscene caricatures like Lakes and JBB. Thomas and Kupchella are the most hated men possible on Bisonville because the two of them single-handedly ruined the bison's DI transition. :
  17. Chapman will down as one of the biggest douchebags/conman in ND history, and you still defend him? He practically single-handedly turned ND in to a banana-republic state. When will the Temple to the great Dark Lord Chapman be dedicated on the NDSU campus? :Guess the house has already been dedicated. What is so incredible about you bisonbackers is that you fail to understand that RT was never ever going to be an AD to take UND to DI. He didn't have the training or pedigree for that. RT had to defend and advocate DII just to keep his job. I know you guys are incredibly insecure, but it was never about RT and you, RT's actions were about his own standing at UND to keep it a DII institution. Once UND leadership changed their mind and started heading toward DI, the first order of business was to find a new DI experienced AD that could lead UND through a transition.
  18. December 11th is a Saturday. An early Saturday home date in the FargoDome, the home of a certain team that never hosts a playoff? Isn't that date basically a confession that the bison don't have a prayer of a chance of hosting a home playoff game? Or was the date just a royal screw up?
  19. Last year, avg attendance went down to 8500 due to three poorly attended games (USF, early evening Halloween vs Cal Poly, and Southern Oregon) and the loss to Sioux Falls:. In 2008, attendance actually set a record.
  20. At Division I, a player generally can not redshirt and then have a medical redshirt year if he is hurt later in his career. At the DII. a player had six years to complete eligibility, but at DI only 5 years. Redshirting gives a player another year to mature, but can effectively reduce his playing time anyway. As vulnerable as a RB or WR is to injury, red-shirting can actually reduce the time a player can contribute.
  21. Nice to see this. As Gretzky said, playing lacrosse was a key to his development on the rink.
  22. Taylor and Chapman have entirely different motives. Chapman power tripped by lording over the SBoHE and Legislature using his Imperial Cass entourage (Paulson, etc.) Chapman, with his skill at power triangulatioins, if he had been the correct ethnicity, would have advanced to the inner circle in a whole international array of totalitiarian regimes: North Korea, Somalia, Belarus, Kazahkstan, Libya, Venezuela, Burma. In that sense, people like him are responsible for world hunger. Thank goodness North Dakota as a civilization survived him. Taylor's interests on the other hand is much more narrowly focused and are much more benign . He longs to see NDSU become an FCS power, so he can make the jump to be an FBS AD and really be somebody. He doesn't have an interest in resuming a 100 year rivalry as UND being in FCS interferes with his goals and he has no real connection to the state anyway. As much as the bison struggled last year, I can't imagine how frustrating it was for him to see his next career stepping stone being flushed down the commode. He and Bohl both have a lot riding on this season.
  23. To only be up 2% with a 12% grad enrollment increase and a relatively small senior class, NDSU's freshman class must have dropped rather substantially. Without all the tuition waivers Chapman was granting, freshman are not as inclined to enroll there. Since the sophomore and junior classes at NDSU are huge, once those two classes begin graduating, NDSU enrollment will likely decline temporarily.
  24. Good try. Kelley sent out an olive branch to Chapman. The olive branch was returned.
