My bad... Per a previous post... ...it seems obvious that you believe NDSU can get into the BSC without UND. Where is GCWaters? A few questions... Are you for or against UND going DI-AA (football) regardless of conference affiliation? (Had to ask...) Do you truly believe SDSU is a better travel partner considering it is 190 miles (Mapquest) from Fargo versus Grand Forks? If UND does not play into NDSU getting into the BSC...how do the Bison convince the BSC to extend an invitation? If NDSU does not get into the BSC do you see them staying in the GWFC or seeking a different conference?

I need a legend... Are comments in parentheses positive/negative/both. I can figure out "BROKE" as being a negative...but do you see "geography" as a plus or minus? Under UNO...what is UNL? Is UVSU...Utah Valley State? Is academics a plus or negative? I assume that if it were a positive you would have listed it under NDSU and of course UND...are you saying that SUU and UVSU are a bunch of dummies?

What I find disturbingly funny, as I mentally picture UNO vs. Lennon, is that Lennon is not wearing a football uniform (or even a helmet). He is standing by himself dressed in his usual polo shirt and khaki's armed only with a stone-like game face and a 1000-yard stare. It gives me the shivers... GO LENNON!!!

Indeed, I saw the final score...Lennon 10 / UNO 7. But, we are bound to have tough games ahead and I think Lennon will need to conserve some of his powers. I am not suggesting that Lennon and the AD share 50/50 only that the AD step in for a series or two. The blocked field goal was amazing...I didn't know he could jump that high!

Are you implying a $1 million grant is actually $1.4 million or $0.6 million (research) and $0.4 million (indirects)? Let me use 40% as a ballpark ($1 million plus $0.4 million)... NDSU - FY03 Federal Grants - $37.940 million $37.940 million x 0.4 = $15.976 million (indirects) So... $46.276 million (Institutional Funds) - $15.976 million (indirects)= $30.3 million It would appear to me that NDSU is spending a lot of its OWN money on research? Admirable.

You sound like my business manager...can you give me a theoretical example? Here's my take...correct me if I am wrong. Institutional funds are monies not specifically earmarked for a particular department but (in this case) were eventually used to fund research. Where does NDSU come up with $46 million in discretionary dollars? Thanks for the reply...

I read this to mean that NDSU received $89.1 million in research funds for FY04 but some funds granted in previous years were actually spent in FY04 accounting for the $102.1 million. $82.5 vs $89.1 million (FY04)...I would call this a tie...but I will grant (no monetary value) you the win. Regarding the NSF (National Science Foundation FY03), I see NDSU at #122 and UND at #163, with $91.8 and $41.8 million respectively. UND research expenditures have grow greatly from FY03 ($41.8 million) to FY04 ($82.5 million). It will be interesting to see the NSF FY04 numbers...
