  1. All-USCHO Preseason teams. Other than the rookie squad, no love for UND. Not even an honorable mention pick?
  2. Parise assisted on his own goal? Wow, he IS good!
  3. Ridiculous as in WOW?! Or ridiculous as in what the heck were Finley and the goalie doing?
  4. It appeared at the Manitoba game, as the players gathered around Parise before the start of the game, that Smaby was the player giving the team a pep talk, which is typically done by the captain. He looked very animated in the "huddle."
  5. I don't mean to speculate, but it may have also been Drew Fisher (Moorhead Spud, Sioux Falls Stampede), who has added a lot of muscle to his frame. He and Forney look somewhat alike in the two pictures that I linked and are both fairly big kids. http://www.sfstampede.com/TheHerd/Player.cfm?ID=103 Fisher is being heavily recruited by the top-end WCHA schools. And at least one of the lower-tier WCHA schools has already offered him a full ride. There is a strong possibility he will be wearing green and white next year and I think he should be added to the Sioux recruits thread as someone to watch for next season. Of course, this is just a gut feeling.
  6. I may be wrong, but the kid I saw talking to Berry and watching warmups from the bench looked a lot like the kid second from left in the first picture (do you agree?): http://www.trftimes.com/index.php?option=c...ask=view&id=926
  7. I matched the recruit's face to a recent picture I found in the TRF paper. Again, I am almost positive it was Forney.
  8. I am relatively certain it was Michael Forney from TRF!
  9. Edmonton's top 20 prospects. Information about former (Greene) and current (Chorney) and future (Vande Velde) Fighting Sioux. Interesting to read that they feel Chorney fits the Jordan Leopold mold.
  10. Perhaps it is a weak excuse, but my guess is most people want to watch Sioux alums play in these type of games. The Wild generate some interest because they are local, but the Panther's roster is a devoid of anything connected to UND, other than the couple of players listed that played in the most recent WJC. If the opponent was the Coyotes, Oilers, Penguins, etc, the ticket sales would be much better. Remember the uproar a few years back because of the Thrashers last minute decision not only refusing to let Hrkac play, but not even allowing him to travel to GF with the team . . . . if their decision had been announced earlier in the process I don't think the crowd would've been as big as it was! That being said, I have my tickets for Friday and am looking forward to the game.
  11. I am fairly certain he was the captain the year of that incident.
  12. Disagree and I relate this to hockey in a historical perspective (I say this with the opinion that UND should be allowed to keep the name, logo and everything else that says Fighting Sioux). SEVEN national championships and the last time I checked no regionals at home; first round of the WCHA playoffs and that is it. (I am a youngster relatively speaking - mid-30s's so I don't know what went on in the 50's, 60's and 70's, but after that . . . .) At this point, an agrument that states UND can't win a national championship if they don't have a home NCAA playoff game appears to be an incorrect statement. As far as I recollect, Gino was forced out and Deano left of his own volition without having a home national playoff series/game late, late in season and they both coached teams to national championships. As for top recruits turning their back on UND as stated, the following may disagree: Russ Romaniuk, Greg Johnson, Landon Wilson, Jason Blake, Lee Goren, Ryan Bayda, Travis Roche, Brandon Bochenski, Zach Parise, Travis Zajac, Jonathon Toews . . . . Home playoff games are beneficial, but they have NOT been the key to UND's postseason success!
  13. $607,000 to be a sideline reporter for college football over three seasons?? WOW!!!
  14. From today's Forum: Chad Johnson introduced as the new coach of the F/M Jets. A blip on the Sports front page references the article by referring to him as former UND standout Chad Johnson. I know Chad and he is a good guy and has been a pretty successful coach, but I don't think 6 career goals and 22 career points in 95 career games warrants the standout label.
  15. WOW!!! This is perhaps the most inane statement I've ever read on this board and THAT is saying a lot!
  16. Correct. Chad, the oldest of four boys, won the P to P a few years back.
