  1. I'm suprised at how few people are at REA. I thought the lower bowl would at least be full
  2. legend334, I think you should be addressing Bison1234. The only thing somebison stated in this thread was the probability of HS athletes playing in the NCAA or pros, and he backed it up with a link. UND92,96 I believe that Bohl stated that he got the top five ND recruits on the NDSU recruiting board. I believe he has been misquoted. I even think he admitted losing ND recruits that wanted to be eligible for the postseason.
  3. Marty, Honestly, your opinion has as much merit as what I was stating. There is always a flip side to a coin. With the lack of objective thinking by most people, there rarely is one viewpoint to an issue. Opinions, prejudices, and judgements lead to differing viewpoints. I'm just trying to throw out a possible differing viewpoint; as clapping with one hand serves no purpose.
  4. Marty, I did. I'm not talking about the chess club, I am talking about the marketing of the Fighting Sioux name. You stated that it does not always honor the name. End of story. I then provided a parallel example that proves that it can be interpreted as "poking fun at them".
  5. Sicatoka, Note the use of the '?' in my post of the dollar amount of the BSA. It was in the tens of millions, I just couldn't remember the exact amount. Obviously, somebison clarified the issue. The fundraising campaign has begun, as the BSA is part of the $70 million university fundraising campaign. Didn't you proclaim earlier that the renovation of the BSA was a sound financial move on the part of NDSU?
  6. Damstrait, That's what I meant to write, so I'll try again (it has been a long week ): Selling Sioux-per hot dogs at the REA or selling Fighting Sioux shotglasses in the bookstore qualifies as honoring the Sioux people? Marty, I truly am playing devil's advocate on this issue. One can also argue that using terms like "Sioux-per" are a convenient and amusing play on words that strips the Sioux name of honor. If the Alerus starts calling hot dogs Roger Thomas wieners, could that be considered making fun of RT?
  7. Over 10,000 paid attendance for the weekend, not too bad. Let's see how many make it to REA next weekend before calling the attendance brutal.
  8. I'm actually in favor of keeping the nickname, I just don't like it when untruths are being sold as the truth. The part I quoted is the only part I had a problem with. If naming a processed meat and who-knows-what product shaped into a sausage casing, and thrown on top of a bun is honoring the proud tradition of the Sioux people, I guess I'm wrong and will admit it. Same goes for selling the shotglasses in the UND bookstore. I would think most unbiased minds would find the two examples above cases of the Sioux people being embarassed, disgraced, or being made fun of.
  9. Cratter, 1)You don't want to build a basketball arena too large.(Valpo only seats 5,000 Gonzaga's new stadium will seat a little over 6,000 ) 2) It's financially possible to renovate at the current time, but not to build new 3) The Fargodome is still discussing a "small-event" venue that would also conveniently be the perfect size for Bison BB. Corella, doh! I forget about the parents section. I sit at about mid-court, right above the students about ten rows up in the seats. I forget how bad the bleachers are, but have no desire to sit in them . The BSA has been brought up before, but thrown on the backburner. UND 92,96 I also forgot to throw in the excuse that the men and women playing on separate nights probably affected attendance. Some people probably had to choose one night or the other.
  10. In years past, there have been a lot more UND fans at the BSA for the game. That's all I am stating. I wouldn't be suprised if there were less than 50 total last night. I can nearly guarantee that there will be many more Bison fans making the trip to GF. Corella, The seating at the BSA is being taken care of. If you haven't heard, the BSA will be undergoing a major renovation ($18M ?) after this season. It has been the weak link in NDSU's facilities for quite some time, and the admin knows it (it was also brought up in the Carr Report).
  11. Selling Sioux-per hot dogs or selling Fighting Sioux shotglasses in the bookstore doesn't qualify?
  12. Corella, The number of UND fans at the game last night was reflected in the attendance numbers. I have never seen so few Sioux fans at a Bison/Sioux event. I would estimate that there was about 40 people in UND apparel, and that's including UND's cheerleaders. Friday night, hockey game, or fighting not to be in last place, whatever the reason, but the Sioux fans weren't there to support their team
  13. I'm not clearing out space in the Bison trophy case, yet. I was merely providing a light-hearted reference to the statements that NDSU could not have any inside game against UND.
  14. Looks like the Bison took it inside all night long, but the taller and more *cough* talented *cough* Sioux couldn't do anything about it. Rypkema was the only player that seemed to do anything, and his performance was sporadic at best. Lindahl looked like he was running through concrete all night long.
  15. I highly doubt playing an NAIA school (Peru State) would help their chances, either.
  16. They were around 6,600 for UNC and 6,700 for SCSU. I thought UND's numbers were lower in 2003. I tried finding them on the official UND site, but it's way too slow for my patience quotient.
  17. star2city, When was there a "crowd" of 5,000 at the Fargodome in 2002? The smallest crowd in 2002 was over 6,600. NDSU had a 2-5 record going into that game. I believe that UND's crowd on 11/2/02 was around 5,000.
  18. It was reported on WDAY tonight that Harrington verballed to NDSU.
  19. Corella, I'm talking about McNear, the same QB you're talking about. If he is capable of greater things than what he showed at the Fargodome, all the more to him. He went 5-17, and it seemed like his decisions weren't very good. I thought the second string QB for CSP was much more intelligent and talented. It could have just been that day, though.
  20. Corella, How is a QB that can't even complete 30% of his passes exciting? All the poor boy could do is try to run against the Bison D. Maybe his NSIC competition made him look better than he actually was.
  21. Go ask D over on the bisonville board. He's a Sioux fan and has the inside scoop about Moorman committing to NDSU. Maybe you know who he is
  22. I'm pretty sure Bohl will be looking for an OC that will use the WCO. I agree the run is used more, but then again some of the NFL teams that use WCO variants put more emphasis on the run. That's why I think it isn't a true WCO, but then again, the 49er's might be the only true WCO
  23. Sicatoka, The West Coast Offense, or Walsh Coached Offense as it should be called, is probably not the true offense NDSU ran last year. However, it is was based on a lot of the principles of the WCO, and is close variant. Here's the basic principles of the WCO from Bill Walsh's "Finding The Winning Edge": Reliance on a quick, controlled passing game that takes advantage of quarterback and wide receiver reads on the fly -YES Multiple plays from multiple formations, with the object being to find a mismatch between an offensive player and a defender -YES A fairly equal mix of running and passing, although the pass seems to set up the run, which goes against the
  24. UND 92,96 Off the top of my head, Chris Berg (QB, Fargo South 90 or 91) played at Stanford. I would say the lack of I-AA schools in the area, and the lack of DI talent in the state are both contributing factors. I hope having some regional I-AA's wil raise the level of HS football in the region. Growing up in Ohio, I honestly think a lot of Ohio Junior High teams could easily beat Fargo South or West Fargo(I'm not even going to mention what they would do to the GF HS teams )
