  1. Great win - if we could pass better we'd be world beaters.  Not sure if it was bad bounces but we looked like we were fighting the puck a lot too.  Duluth is the most obnoxious team we face every year - nice to beat them again.

I don't discount that things have slightly improved, but why the sudden drop-off after our title?  You'd think that Berry would have pulled in a number of much better recruits in a shorter period of time.  And, as talented as this team is, it's really no comparison to the 2016 title team.  It only seems better because of how poor some recent rosters have been.  That 2016 team would blown the doors off of what this team is capable of IMO.  We were loaded on both offense and defense and our starting five in the championship all went on to play in the NHL.  How many NHLers are we watching on this year's team?  In the past it was never a question of if any of the guys were going to play decent NHL careers, not just get a couple of short-term call-ups...it was a question of how many.

We need blue chippers - Imagine our title run without Boeser.  Also it is hard to understand how with this team getting their butts handed to them on Friday we then come out with our Saturday performance.  Something is missing from Berry's team and it looks a lot like grit.  It doesn't even look like the same team - especially on defense - that swept Denver.  How did our D get so sloppy all of a sudden - especially with an extra week to heal?

I'd tell Brad he's embarrassing right to his face, but he always no-shows for the meet-ups.  Kind of like how the team no-shows for all the NCAA tournaments after all these amazing NCHC regular season titles in the greatest hockey league ever to exist....which is why UND has done so well in NCAA play lately.

We used to mock the Gophers for this very thing - win the Big 10 and flame out at tourney time.  Now this is us.

The airport director needs to get more aggressive in getting carriers into GF.’you don’t need more gates for planes that aren’t here.

called the director once and the feeling I got was don’t bother me,

minot has 5 or 6 gates but more carriers.

you would think with UND flight school there would be a push from them to help get carriers here.

it sucks to see so many from GF flying out of Fargo including UND

That 5 am flight you have to take from GF to get anywhere is brutal - that's the main problem.

  5. In my opinion the “good old boys club” isn’t a well organized group with regular meetings and minutes. In Bubba’s case it was a group of older former athletes who knew Bubba and supporters anchored by Bubba’s family.  They absolutely lobbied hard for Bubba’s hire.  I know that they talked to many people about supporting Bubba (which is their right) .  I can’t speak to how much sway they held with the AD but look at the results.  And a big selling point was that he is UND family and bleeds Sioux green.

Can someone ask Chaves why he extended a 5-6 coach if he didn't have the money to buy him out?

I really believe that this illustrates the reason that we get so many of what many feel are repetitive complaints on this board.  We get absolutely nothing from the AD and only schucky darn from Bubba.  Never an honest assessment of where we are and what we are doing to correct things.  Many including me feel that no one is listening and worse no one is taking steps to change what we have seen over the past 10 years.

My negativity resides with me full time as long as bubba is still coach.  I have invested many years and a lot of money into this football program over numerous decades.  Bubba is not a head coach.  He is still here so I expect the same BS outcome next year.  No expectations except that they can’t win the big road game, can’t win a playoff game, same boring pressers , same lack of of motivation…etc .  However … he will win one meaningful game at home that will keep fans thinking they turned over a new stone…..rinse and repeat.     How many UND fans really think Bubba can go to Fargo and win next year ?  Truly believe that ?  Not happening.   So bringing in another ex UNDer doesn’t excite me.  If Jake can get UND to actually win a meaningful game on the road or in the playoffs I will be smiling.  But “deer in the headlights “ Bubba is still here so I doubt that happens.

I think it might be best for me to step away from the season tickets for awhile like I did with this board for 3 years.  Step away and breathe. I love UND and love UND football.   I also wear my heart on my sleeve with this program.  And right now it’s not healthy for me.  Wish I could be like more on this board and simply be ok with being so average but I cant.  It hurts.

I'm frustrated too - But I don't blame Bubba as much as the AD - Bubba is always going to be Bubba.  To extend him after a 5-6 season shows how much the Athletic Department values excellence.  We have had weak leadership from the AD and the UND administration for far too long.  Overall this is as low as I have seen the overall athletic programs.

If we tank this season with the Frozen Four being in St. Paul and with the talent we have on the roster, it will be so discouraging. And it will make me start to question whether the current regime can take us back to the top of the mountain.

With the failure of Berry and Co. to right our obvious weaknesses going back as least as far as last year it makes you wonder.  How in the hell are Colorado College and the 18 and under team better than us 3 on 3?

  9. This is strangely similar to last year in that they had problems that lasted for the whole year (defense all in the corner for example) and no adjustments could fix it.  The last 4 games worry me.  We had a long break to change and now the exact same thing.

Come on, Bubba, get out of the way so Danny can hire Pawlek as OC.

After watching Danny in action this year if he is the best idea we have to replace Bubba we are in trouble.

It is a good facility, would be nice if a bowl concept on south end could be done, same with the Betty

until we sell out both we just need plans in place for expansion

sound system to me has never been top shelf

The sound was so bad the first couple of games I considered letting my tickets go -extremely loud crap not only during breaks but in between every play. I had a guest who could hardly stand it. They seemed to have toned it down a bit later and actually played some songs that fired up the crowd.

This staff won’t develop anything considered more than average or slightly above average defense. Bubba and his defensive assistants - despite being labeled “defensive guys” - are outdated and not capable anymore. Time has passed them by. It’s not 2001 anymore.

The whole Holinka leaving for St. Thomas and Schwenzfeier getting promoted thing last off-season was a major red flag and proved to be true this past season. Bubba is in over his head.

If/when Freund gets the head job, curious what he’d do with the defensive side of the ball.

He'd instill a defense to stop the 2 yard pass - the most dangerous play in football.

You read my post correct. @Sioux95 is just digging for something that isn’t there.

Back to the actual conversation, I’m glad to hear Bo is back. I hope we can use him more efficiently with a different QB and different offensive gameplan. We’re going to need him to step up even more next season!

What have you seen from Bubba that makes you think we will have a different offensive gameplan?

It reminds me of back in the day. Had a bad year. Next offseason was hard as hell. The next season was a success. The following offseason was not as hard. That season was not as successful with a more talented team.

IMO coaches need to prepare their team like their job is on the line every game. That’s the difference between a Nick Saban and the guys who taste the bottom of his boots.

Exactly - but we know that the coach's job is never on the line when you can get renewed at 5-6.   Absolutely no demand for excellence - just shucky darn we have to play better.  Every time the Bison get closer to the playoff finals I get real irritated that Bubba took a classic victory and turned it into crap in one game while the Bison took a humiliating defeat and upped their game.  Absolutely no excuse for this (and no consequences).

  15. In my opinion the biggest problem at the GF airport is the absolutely brutal schedule Delta has in order to make any connection in Minneapolis.  It seems like you must take the 5:00 AM flight which means getting up at 3-3:30 AM - a hell of a way to start a business trip or vacation.  People who live outside of the GF area must get up earlier.  For some of us that means only 3-4 hours of fitful sleep.  And by far the most common return time is around midnight.  A western hub would also be useful.
