  4. Bisonfan1234 -- This is the one and only time I am going to respond to anything you say on this board and I hope other UND fans follow my lead. While I respect your opinion and your right to post on this board, I wish you would take some lessons in class from BisonMav and some of the other SU fans who visit here often. Per the gobison.com website, you have two freshmen starters and seven others as the No. 1 backups to other starters - so freshman (whether true or red-shirted) can be significant contributors to your program. If you are bringing in better quality recruits now (which everyone, including your coaches and media attest), how can you not have better talent next year and the year after, etc. than you have now? I respectfully ask that you either forget coming to this site (my preference) or become more mature with your comments. I do not feel that I or anyone else in here deserve comments like "you are talking out of your ass".
  5. I am confused by the many comments stating that SU won't have an advantage for 3-4 years. It is true that it will take a few years before all 63 available scholarships are fully funded but the difference starts next year. There is no question that SU had a very good recruiting year last year. They were successful (smartly) by offering a partial scholarship to many of their recruits and telling them that they will likely get a free ride within a year or two. When UND go head-to-head recruiting a prospect, it is seldom that a full ride is offered. SU got some recruits that UND wanted simply with the "carrot" of more money down the line. With only 36 scholarships available, UND can not morally make that implication. As most readers of this know, SU expanded their recruiting base substantially this last year, getting some very talented kids out of Illinois (and elsewhere). Those kids will be playing next year and the year after. This provides a major advantage for the Bison. I, personally, agree with BisonMav and think the series should end until both schools are back in the same division. The two universities will make this decision but I think that it is important to note that the advantage in SU's favor will begin next year, not in 3-4 years.
  6. Appreciate your mature comments, bisonguy! It was truly a great game between two very talented teams. It could be that we will meet again in a few weeks!
  7. Obviously, the perfect solution for NDSU, UND, SDSU and many others is a I-AA division for all sports but I don't think that is in the cards!! If that happened, UND would hop on board in a New York Minute!
  8. They will be playing the Globe Trotters in 10 days. That will be an interesting test. I guess too many people still think that this will be the "clowning" Globe Trotters of old rather than a serious game against a very good team.
  9. Kupe - You mentioned your wife and two sons. Are they younger sons?? A couple more future Sioux players??
  10. Anyone GF seen the men's or women's team practice yet? Curious about your thoughts if you have.
  11. Kupe - Glad that Chris chose UND. He is going to be a dandy for us! Any other talented young men up there you can help convince to attend UND?
  12. BisonMav - You indicate that you fully support SU's move to DI. I respect your thoughts and really applaud SU's "balls" in going after this. I also think that the Bison will become a Top 15 1-AA football team within a short period of time. But, other than Wrestling where you will be respectable, don't you think all of the other sports will suffer greatly? You have a great program in many sports - track, softball, volleyball, women's BB, etc. I just don't know how you (or SDSU or UND) can compete in all these sports. For example, you have an outstanding M & W track program - consistently one of the top teams in DII. However, if I remember correctly, in most years, not one of your athletes or relay teams would have qualified for the DI national meet. Of course, BB is the other most popular and profit producing sport. I don't know if you will be able to recruit a better quality female athlete to improve your program to a higher level and the men's program may have a bigger challenge as they currently bring in many transfers who would not qualify for DI. You will likely find a conference but will it be compelling enough to draw the interest of fans (other than FB). This may also be a similar challenge when it comes to recruiting. Lastly, the cost of additional scholarships probably will be handled without too much difficulty, but transporting your track, softball, volleyball, golf teams, etc. the distances necessary to compete with other DI teams will be significant. Your thoughts?
  13. Please remember that you read that in the Forum, not the Herald!!
  14. This is a very interesting decision that the coaching staff has to make. While I also feel that Wilson deserves the opportunity to prove that Saturday was not a fluke, he is a senior that that really complicates things. It is likely that, if they go with Wilson, Bowenkamp may continue to be No. 2 on the depth chart but I am sure that the coaching staff would not be looking for him to be the starter next year. If he has not shown the leadership abilities this far, they wouldn't assume that he would magically become a leader next year. I realize that we have had some very successful senior first-time starters over the last 15 years but none of them had failed when given the opportunity earlier in their careers. So as I see it, if Wilson gets the nod and does a good job, the staff will look at one of the other talented young QBs to take over next year. That QB just might be Groeschl, even if he isn't playing the position this year. It would be somewhat sad to see BowenKamp not with the team next year after he has been a part of the program for four years. I would guess that they would be honest with him and tell him that they were looking at a young QB for the future.
  15. Huge win! I hope they are getting a few people to these games. We are playing very well!
  16. That should get our heads together for the rest of the season! Big, big win - should build a great deal of character!
  17. Unbelieveable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Thanks for the insight - great info!
  19. UND 92, 96 - I think you summarized the game and what UND needs to do extremely well.
  20. I have been one to agree with UND's stance to wait awhile before making a decision regarding DI. I think it would be great for football - disasterous for all other sports. However, if the decision would be made to merge the NCC and NSIC, I would immediately be a strong proponent for moving up! I really don't think that will happen anytime in the next 20 years. I do see Concordia-St. Paul continuing to improve their programs and becoming a real power in that conference and a potential NCC team. I am not sure that the funding would ever be there for Northern to be a strong DII school year-in-and-year-out. Winona could probably do it more readily than Northern.
  21. I guess there isn't much to him bu the can jump out of the gym!
  22. Gutter and Doyle are both on campus and working out with the guys. They must have been omitted as they will both red-shirt.
  23. PCM - Thanks for the update. It is greatly appreciated.
  24. Have any UND students in here and GF residents seen the UND men's working out? If so, how do they look? Who impresses you?
