  1. Glad to hear that will we be hearing Eddie no longer. I assume Dan Hammer will take over for him. Hammer is much better than he used to be - I don't know who else in the GF/Fargo market may be considered.
  2. Doppler -- I agree - UNA's schedule should not be considered weak. It is unfortunate that you have to play this game away from home - you deserve the home field advantage, even if the championship game is down there. Good luck - I hope we can stay with you!
  3. WSU played a great second half - you should be very proud of your team. There better not be anyone bad-mouthing WSU or the NSIC.
  4. Steve Bradley is a good kid who works really hard. Obviously, he can shoot very well at times. The problem is that he doesn't have the ability to play great defense nor is he physical at all. He sure could be a good "hired gun" for us this year!
  5. PCM - Outstanding analogy!!
  6. Comments on two or three recent posts: 1) There is a great deal of misinformation posted on this board regarding UND's basketball program. Suffice it to say - UND (and I am sure the same goes for NDSU) makes an attempt to sign any ND/NW Minnesota recruit that they feel can contribute to their program. Often, the recruit (Boschee, Gottfried, Koenig, etc.) will make it clear pretty early in the process that they intend to go DI. UND stays in touch with these individuals during the recruiting process but respects their wishes not to take up any of their time, etc. Obviously, they do this with the thought that the athlete may not later want to transfer back to a school nearer their home. 2) UND certainly is struggling and likely will for awhile - maybe all season. Such a turnover of athletes in one year is not good. Combine this with the fact that one of the new players was fully expected to be the team leader, Aaron Austin. When he left the team for personal reasons, that really hurt. Not only was he an experienced leader and scorer, he was their best athlete. If he was with us and scoring his 16-20 points per game, we would be much more respectable. I remember years in the past (both under Glas and Gunther) when we stunk it up in the preseason but went on to challenge for the NCC title. I am not implying that this is going to happen this year but we may not be as lousy as it currently appears. 3) Lollar came in as a highly regarded and highly recruited JC transfer. All of the good DII schools were after him (Kentucky Wesleyan, etc.). He hurt a knee or ankle in the summer before his first year at UND and never really recovered. The coaching staff felt that he recovered physically but not mentally. He just couldn't make himself go full-tilt (other than one game later in the season when he scored 25 or so - I think against SDSU). He began to get a bad attitude and started to let his school work slide. It got to the point where the coaching staff (and the other players did not want him back for the next year. All that being said, I believe that had he not injured himself prior to his first season at UND, he may have been a great player. I know the coaching staff felt that, up to that point, he was the best BB player they had recruited to UND. 4) The Harkins kid we signed out of they Wisconsin should be a very good NCC player. Lots of tools - plenty of maturity. They had hoped to sign the Winkelman kid out of Morris, MN but he decided to wait until spring to sign. St. Cloud is after him hard plus he may still go DI. A very good athlete - 6'6" forward.
  7. Strongly agree! A basketball forum would be great. I think the interest is here for a separate forum. I am sure that there would be threads for both Men and Women.
  8. I understand that Kleinsasser has "gone Hollywood" (not only in his appearance)and is somewhat embarrassed by his ND past. If true, that is really too bad. He was really a good, humble kid!
  9. Well, I will start with a prediction on Saturday's game: UND 23 Pitt 17 If our defense plays well, we will win. I believe we can score on them.

    Injuries

Anyone heard how our injured guys are progressing: Olson, Grant, etc.?
  11. WYOBISONFAN - We appreciate your well-wishes. There are classy Bison fans - just not many of them! That was a joke!!
  12. WYOBISONFAN - Although it isn't right, I would guess that you are probably correct that NDSU would not get any breaks from the Committee due to your leaving DII.

Sioux1 - do you know his situation? Will he return next year on a hardship ruling?
  14. Didn't move up much in the D2 poll -- No. 9!
  15. I am surprised that SU stayed at No. 5 - although that is probably where they deserve to be!

    Injuries

Ben Olson has a partial tear of the MCL, the medial collateral ligament, in his knee. He is questionable for the game on the 15th. Fortunately, he has a lot of time to rest and rehab it. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays. There were quite a few other nuisance injuries, some that might have held players out of a game this weekend, others may have played but not at 100%. Bottom line - it is a real break that we do not have a game on Saturday.

Thanks - I hope your assumption is correct!

    Injuries

I know UND isn't talking much about injuries for legal reasons but does anyone have any idea what type of injuries offensive linemen, Ben Olson and Ryan Grant, had on Saturday? We can't afford to lose either of them but especially Olson - he is a stud! It is good that we have a week off before the playoffs!
  19. I am posting these scores without the intent to make a point but we do need to remember that the UND game came after only a few days of practice. Trotters college schedule: 10/26 UND W 95-67 11/2 Michigan St. W 97-83 11/4 Siena W 108-75 11/8 Williams Col (?) 11/9 UMass 11/11 Syracuse 11/13 Ind-Purdue 11/15 UT-El Paso
  20. Why?
  21. In case you didn't see the score, the same GlobeTrotter team that beat us last week, handled Michigan State pretty easily over the weekend - winning by 14 points.
  22. Some cool suggestions, YaneA but you have way too much time on your hands!!
  23. Another truly unbelievable finish!!
  24. Some more bad news for the Sioux - Josh Doyle, the freshman point guard out of Iowa (being red-shirted this year) tore his ACL late last week. He was looking very good in practice. Surgery will be next week. Provided he heals up OK, he will be a good one but missing a few months of practice certainly doesn't help his development. Mike Gutter, the 6'7' power forward out of Milwaukee, is working very hard and improving. He has gained 15 pounds over the summer and fall and still may be growing. He could be a dandy power forward in a couple of years. The is a chance that Aaron Austin could be back with the team next year - has a lot of challenges to overcome personally. This is really too bad about him - the coaches feel that he was easily the best athlete on the team! The Sioux are looking at a power forward and a point guard (he can play the 2 position) during the early signing period. Both are freshman, one out of MN, the other WS. If we don't land either of them, we probably won't sign anyone early. Not much scholarship $ available. This will be a challenge as we have so many juniors - lots of holes to fill after next year but little money to bring kids in before a year from now.
  25. I have not seen Nobles but I understand that he would be a combination of Munlin and Berg. Probably not quite the floor general that Munlin was but a better shooter. I don't think we should be too down about the performance against the Trotters. They are good and we have so many new faces that had been practicing for just over a week. Plus, we scored 51 points against them in the second half. Losing Austin has really hurt in that he was to be our consistent o/s scorer. Not sure who will fill that slot now - Johnson, Jacobson, etc. It will be a very interesting year. Not sure how good we will be but I don't think it will be a disaster!
