Scott - What about Concordia of St. Paul? They have come out of nowhere in the last very few years to become a real player in many sports. Do you have any idea what their aspirations are?

    Future of NCC

Very interesting concept - it would be a great league!
  4. Bison fans - no smartass comments from me. It certainly will help your cause to be in a conference right away and with three teams that your fans can relate to (UNC, SDSU and Davis). It hadn't sounded like a conference was possible for this upcoming year so this was very good news for you. I have said from the start that the SU move to DIAA in FB would be a good move - despite a few tough years during the transition. I have also said from the start that, with the possible exception of wrestling, the move to DI will be disasterous in all other sports. We will see if I am right or wrong. All this being said, UND may join you soon if FB scholarships are cut again.

    Wonderful!! Just what we needed!!
  6. I would assume that Legend was meaning that, if we had a chance to land Koenig, we would find the money to do so. And, he is probably right! I am quite sure there is nothing new regarding his transfer. In fact, if anything, he may be more apt to stay at GB now than he was a couple of weeks ago.
  7. I agree with all of your comments. We do lose fewer major contributors but, more importantly, I am sure that the coaching staff and team learned a lot from our less than stellar 2002. They won't let that happen again!
  8. While I am one of UND biggest FB fans and supporters, we better not get too over confident about 2004. We all remember what happened in 2002 after the Championship season. Plus, this last year could have easily been a near .500 season - we were fortunate (and clutch) in coming back in many games. There is no question, however, that we were a very good FB team by the end of the year. Next year, the NCC road schedule is more difficult plus everyone will be gunning for us. A few key injuries could really hurt. Again, I think we will be very good but we better not start counting our chickens.......
  9. That is a good question. If we knew he was available quite soon, we probably could/would. However, if it is into the spring or summer before he decides to move on, our limited scholarship $ may be gone.
  10. I find it appalling that Ryp didn't get Player of the Week honors. His stats blew away the other two and came against pretty darn good competition. I agree with your comments about recruiting challenges with a large junior class but it goes much further than that. It will likely be into the summer before we know if Parks, Nobles and Doyle have fully healed from serious injuries. Especially Parks, his knee was really messed up. It would appear that Nobles and Doyle should be OK but if any of the three can't go, it will be too late to find a talented replacement and we are right back where we were this year. Also, they may be able to play but will they be the player they used to be? We just won't know for months. Winkelman is still a possibility but is thinking more about DI aspirations. They are talking to some other talented HS players but with limited $ available, it is difficult to offer free rides. A couple are interested (at this point) in coming in for a partial and "earning" more $ after the first year. That would really help with the large junior class problem we have. They are looking at some juco players this week who won't be able to go DI. Koenig is still not thrilled about Green Bay but continues to start (not many minutes a game, though) and the team is in the hunt for their conference title. Despite not caring for the campus, etc., he may stay if they go aways in the tourney. Dan Harkins, the guard out of Portage, WS, is having a good year - averaging about 20 with his team winning their conference. It will be interesting whether he is "too good" to redshirt next year.
  11. Am I correct in my assumption that all UND scholarship players returned to school for the second semester? Obviously, some walk-ons may have left school or dropped their plans to play FB.
  12. 74 -- Yes, there is such a rule. There are a lot of reasons other than the rule that would not make this a prudent thing to do: very short duration of spring ball (team needs to evaluate talent, install new schemes, etc. rather than prepare for a big game), the possibility of injury, etc. Plus, with UND not interested in playing SU, why would they do so in the spring? What is the difference? I guess the only difference would be that playoff implications wouldn't apply. Bopttom line - It can't happen so there is no use discussing it further. 92,96 -- I am quite sure that there has been no discussion about Carney joining the BB team.
  13. Presthus is supposed to be quite talented. Regarding the QB situation, it is my understanding that Carney is pretty much returning on his own. Not sure if he has a GF at UND or just wanted to return. He will certainly be given a chance but I don't think the coaching staff is really considering him as a potential starter. And, if that is the case, I surely wouldn't think he would be considered for the No. 2 spot either. They need to be grooming a couple of the younger guys for the future.
  14. I agree 100%!
  15. Thanks for the info.
  16. I make this statement every month or so but it appears that I must continue to do so: JUST IGNORE THE SU FANS THAT DO NOT ADD VALUE TO THIS WEBSITE. WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR ONLY PURPOSE IS TO IRRITATE US - THEY DO A PRETTY GOOD JOB OF IT, BY THE WAY!! IF WE IGNORE THEM, THEY WILL GO AWAY. SIMPLY DO NOT RESPOND TO THEIR FOOLISH REMARKS! For the Bison fans who truly want to have good discussions, you are certainly welcome - although I don't really understand why you hang out here. I have never been to your site and have no interest in doing so!!

    New Hire?

You are correct: he is listed in their Directory but not on their page of football coaches. I checked the NCC website and he was definitely there this past year. I just thought that it was kind of strange how they worded it "a former assistant....". I guess the minute he decided to leave, he became a "former" assistant.

    New Hire?

Any idea what Kelling did this last year? He wasn't with Augie.
  19. The Bison folks are absolutely correct on this issue. A national championship is a national championship. We are proud of our seven hockey titles, they should be proud of their FB titles.
  20. What does your comment have to do with the subject matter we have been discussing?
  21. You are correct - the Draayer recruit had verbaled to SDSU, then decided to go to UND.
  22. Not a good practice to strike up a conversation about the health of a kid you really care about!! I really disagree with that -- and so did Jones' parents. They appreciated Rich's concern about their son! It absolutely would not have been a good practice to do so via telephone or in a secluded hallway at your fieldhouse but having a brief conversation out in the open should not have promptly that kind of childish reaction from either Oien or Nagy! If Glas had had a history of "tampering" with kids from other schools, that would have been different but that certainly was not the case!
  23. I thought Nagy had more class than that!
  24. Interesting - thanks for posting these articles!
  25. Orange & Maroon Sioux - Welcome to our board! Glad you have joined us. Please excuse a lot of the childish discussions and posts - mostly by NDSU fans but also from some of ours. We will be interested in your thoughts and comments on some of these issues. Glad to hear you are a Sioux fan!
