  1. Am I correct in my assumption that all UND scholarship players returned to school for the second semester? Obviously, some walk-ons may have left school or dropped their plans to play FB.
  2. 74 -- Yes, there is such a rule. There are a lot of reasons other than the rule that would not make this a prudent thing to do: very short duration of spring ball (team needs to evaluate talent, install new schemes, etc. rather than prepare for a big game), the possibility of injury, etc. Plus, with UND not interested in playing SU, why would they do so in the spring? What is the difference? I guess the only difference would be that playoff implications wouldn't apply. Bopttom line - It can't happen so there is no use discussing it further. 92,96 -- I am quite sure that there has been no discussion about Carney joining the BB team.
  3. Presthus is supposed to be quite talented. Regarding the QB situation, it is my understanding that Carney is pretty much returning on his own. Not sure if he has a GF at UND or just wanted to return. He will certainly be given a chance but I don't think the coaching staff is really considering him as a potential starter. And, if that is the case, I surely wouldn't think he would be considered for the No. 2 spot either. They need to be grooming a couple of the younger guys for the future.
  4. I make this statement every month or so but it appears that I must continue to do so: JUST IGNORE THE SU FANS THAT DO NOT ADD VALUE TO THIS WEBSITE. WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR ONLY PURPOSE IS TO IRRITATE US - THEY DO A PRETTY GOOD JOB OF IT, BY THE WAY!! IF WE IGNORE THEM, THEY WILL GO AWAY. SIMPLY DO NOT RESPOND TO THEIR FOOLISH REMARKS! For the Bison fans who truly want to have good discussions, you are certainly welcome - although I don't really understand why you hang out here. I have never been to your site and have no interest in doing so!!

    New Hire?

You are correct: he is listed in their Directory but not on their page of football coaches. I checked the NCC website and he was definitely there this past year. I just thought that it was kind of strange how they worded it "a former assistant....". I guess the minute he decided to leave, he became a "former" assistant.

    New Hire?

Any idea what Kelling did this last year? He wasn't with Augie.
  7. The Bison folks are absolutely correct on this issue. A national championship is a national championship. We are proud of our seven hockey titles, they should be proud of their FB titles.
  8. What does your comment have to do with the subject matter we have been discussing?
  9. You are correct - the Draayer recruit had verbaled to SDSU, then decided to go to UND.
  10. Not a good practice to strike up a conversation about the health of a kid you really care about!! I really disagree with that -- and so did Jones' parents. They appreciated Rich's concern about their son! It absolutely would not have been a good practice to do so via telephone or in a secluded hallway at your fieldhouse but having a brief conversation out in the open should not have promptly that kind of childish reaction from either Oien or Nagy! If Glas had had a history of "tampering" with kids from other schools, that would have been different but that certainly was not the case!
  11. I thought Nagy had more class than that!
  12. Interesting - thanks for posting these articles!
  13. Orange & Maroon Sioux - Welcome to our board! Glad you have joined us. Please excuse a lot of the childish discussions and posts - mostly by NDSU fans but also from some of ours. We will be interested in your thoughts and comments on some of these issues. Glad to hear you are a Sioux fan!
  14. Glas recruited Jones hard out of HS and it, supposedly, was kind of a coin flip that sent him to SDSU rather than UND. In the recruiting process, Glas got to know the family well. Rich was simply asking Matt how he was doing when Oien started screaming at him from a level above where Rich and Matt were. (Rich actually thought it was some drunk making an ass of himself before realizing that it was Oien.) Everyone still in the gym heard the tirade. It continued as Rich left the building. Matt's dad and mom were there and very embarrassed for Rich - he apologized profusely as he knew Rich was just showing concern about his son. It would have been ironic if they had been upset enough to transfer elsewhere. I was not aware of Nagy getting involved. What role did he play?
  15. I made that statement as if I had first hand knowledge of various incidents. I do not - I heard this from a good friend who is one of SDSU's biggest fans and boosters. He, by the way, is not down on Oien - he just said that he has embarrassed the University with his temper. Yes, I am aware of the Matt Jones incident. I heard about it from 2-3 different sources - all stated that Oien absolutely overreacted. Please don't get me wrong, although I don't have a real high regard for him due to my perception of him, I am not trying to "throw coal on the fire". I simply stated that he has a bad temper.
  16. It is too sad to read this but not surprising. Oien has a terrific temper and has embarrassed himself and SDSU in the past.
  17. 92,96 - I really don't know anything about the Grant kid. I do, however, usually have a pretty good insight into who UND is recruiting and how bad they want someone. They were aware of Grant but were not interested in giving him any $. As you stated, Lindahl was at the top of the list for two reasons: 1) his potential and 2) the fact that he was a ND kid whose dad played for the Sioux. Many DI schools recruiting him quite hard. He wasn't really on their radar screen until his last year of AAU ball when he really started to develop. SU went after him very hard. SU fans will dispute this but one of the reasons that Greg McDermott convinced Ben Jacobson to move from UND to SU was to recruit his cousin, Adam, to commit to SU. (Adam had always planned to go to UND.) The ultimate reason for this was that Adam and Lindahl played on the same AAU team. They thought getting Adam would help them get Evan. It is interesting how this all turned out with both players ending up at UND. It is also interesting (and disappointing) that Adam isn't developing into a better BB player. Regarding other ND kids, there is no question that Northern got some pretty good talent out of ND in the mid-90's. As far as actual talent is concerned, I am not sure how great they were individually but they certainly played well together - they were an excellent team. Well-coached and successful. Bottom line - UND has always wanted to recruit the ND players they thought could produce but there aren't that many of them. When you need to make a decision to offer limited scholarship $ to a ND kid with some talent who has played against average competition versus a pretty talented kid who has played against better competition in other states, it is a pretty easy decision.
  18. While this is all good banter with good points being made on each side, it is a mute point. The shell of the Betty is up and it will seat about 4,000. We need to make the best of these great facilities. It will assist greatly in recruiting but games played in the Ralph will not have a great environment.
  19. Has anyone heard anything about the Jordan kid out of Canada? Did he commit elsewhere or will he be a late signee with UND?
  20. Sioux 9 - Relax a bit - don't lower yourself to the level of many Bison fans (not all) who visit our website.
  21. Clayton - I am not asking this in a argumentative way, but please tell us what other Class B recruits UND has approached in the manner you explained. We do have to remember that this is how a lot of players are recruited at all schools. If the school doesn't have a lot of scholarship $ available and/or they aren't sure a kid will be a real contributor, they are asked to walk-on and "earn" a scholarship. Often, the recruit will go somewhere else where he will get some $. With the lack of real talent at the B level in recent years, I am curious who we (or the Bison) overlooked.
  22. start2city - I know Baagason has scored more than 2,000 points in her career so she must be good. How good is she? Are we recruiting her, is DI courting her?
  23. Not implying that I doubted the story about the Bison women's antics after Saturday's game but I just confirmed the details with someone I know very well - who witnessed it. That absolutely blows my mind that they would be that stupid. I don't live in the area: Is this being discussed on the street? Has it been mentioned in the press (print or airwaves) yet? It certainly appears to me that a classless act such as this should not be "swept under the rug"! The people of ND deserve to know the details!
