I hope nobody felt that I crossed any lines here...and if so, I apologize. I guess I just felt it was wrong for someone to call the Lamoureaux family a bunch of drunks. Heck, you don't have to like Pierre or anyone else in their family if you don't want to...I really don't care...but to call them out like that on a Sioux message board was out of line.
Paul Martin has pulled out of they Olympics this year. I wonder who they'll get to replace him and how that works? I know they released a list of players who would go in case of injury replacements and Oshie was one of them...anyone remember who else was on that?
Martin's arm not healing fast enough
I'm surprised to see that a thread on this did not previously exist. Any thoughts on this topic? Who are the teams to beat? How have the "big" games gone so far this season? Who are the players to watch? What are the big remaining games from here on out?
Last night's disallowed goal was completely ridiculous. I could MAYBE see them calling Knight in the crease...and that's a big MAYBE...but all that should have done was move the faceoff outside the zone. Where in the hell did they get goalie interference from? Knight didn't even touch Cheverie!
The comment from his coach seems pretty "short":
"He went to Europe," Wranglers head coach Ryan Mougenel said in a text message Wednesday. "That's my comment."
I'll never understand the "hits" statistic - why anyone would keep or care about this stat. Goals, assists, +/-, PP/PK percentage, etc. I understand...but hits is just a dumb stat, and can also be fairly subjective.
Amen to that. I was really hoping that Burke would have told Drury "Thanks for your service in the past, but you're not playing this year in Vancouver. Enjoy your time off."
Man...reading that article and the part about overcoming a 3 goal defecit to beat the Americans just makes my stomach turn. I remember that game, and the US team celebrating in front of the Canadians...then it all went to crap after that.
I hope the US goes young this year...no more of the old-folks. Well, maybe 1 or 2 for "leadership" reasons, but otherwise keep it young and get these guys some Olympic experience. Guys like:
Parise
Oshie
Stasny
Kane
Kesler
Ryan
The Johnson boys on D
Bogosian
Oh yeah...and screw Kessel...he'll be a cancer on that team. I'm sure I'm missing a few, but you get the point.
Nice to see Patrice Bergeron make this squad. I know Goon will appreciate that with me. He was so fun to watch during the World Juniors at the Ralph, and with Canada's stacked roster and his injury issues (concussions) I wasn't so sure that he'd make it.
This is probably pretty accurate. I'd take a US loss tomorrow if they could somehow squeak into that Championship game for a rematch!
I also agree about the Canadians booing the US team. Makes no sense to me.
Eat at the Red Pepper. Do not leave Grand Forks without doing this. Preferrably late at night, after the game and after you're a few sheets to the wind.
Lucic is not a goon. He's tough, hard-nosed and will drop them when necessary, but he is also a good player. I read what he wrote in this article and he said "...otherwise talented players like Milan Lucic and Alexander Ovechkin..." so sounds like he thinks he is a good player too, just that he can mix it up at times, which maybe he doesn't agree with.
I see that on 12/10 the Fargo Force traded one of their goaltenders, Cody Campbell to Cedar Rapids. In looking at their roster, their 2nd goalie is now Dayne Belfour.
