  1. The soccer ladies had the NCC Player of the week in Meghan Tracy. Congrats to Meghan and the soccer team and good luck with the start of conference play
  2. It looks like the only home sporting event for UND this weekend is today's match vs. Jamestown. It might be a great weekend to experience Fighting Sioux Soccer. The crowds have grown over the past couple of years and for those brave souls come early and join the "hooligans" as we tailgate and get ready for the game.
  3. I just saw on the NCC website that Lauren Herrman was named Offensive Player of the Week. Congrats Lauren and Sioux Soccer.
  4. For Memorial to work for soccer they would need to reconfigure the track, right now it is too narrow. The surface would be great for soccer but the NCAA requires a minimum width of 75yards and right now the stadium is about mid 60's for the edge of the track to the other edge of the track. So I'm going to guess that it that their aren't any plans for soccer there, but it would be another option for them to practice on. No if only the could cover it to make it an indoor practice facility.
  5. It should be a great game this afternoon. Last season the Golden Bears won 1-0 in St. Paul. Let's all try to get to Bronson Field at 4pm to support the Fighitng Sioux Soccer Team.
  6. 2007 announced GRAND FORKS, N.D.--University of North Dakota head soccer coach Brock Thompson announced today the team
  7. It looks like Sioux Soccer had a good weekend getting a win a St. Cloud and a tie at Mankato. Unbeaten on a roadtrip in the NCC is alway difficult to come by. Congrats on the win ladies.
  8. The Soccer team kicks-off the fall sports season at home tomarrow (friday) against Bemidji State. I hope to see everyone there.
  9. I agree that for a state with a small population there is an overabundance of public schools (especially counting the 2 year schools). It doesn't seem very efficent to have Valley's and Mayvilles along with Williston and Lake Region, too many for not enough people IMHO. On another note why start them in the first place. My guess is that they were started to get students there. Did they not do that? It is obiviously not a well thought through decision if they try it for two years and pull the rug. Certainly not good for PR, current studnet moral, ect. After all 40 soccer student athletes is roughly 5% of the total enrollment of 800.
  10. I think that one of the issues with soccer indoors is that it eliminates the chance to host regionals. This may not be an issue if the DI move is made
  11. Here is a link to the herald article. http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/sports/13808900.htm Seems like a good class.
  12. Link to live stats from Uno's page. It would be nice if we did this. Might solve to issue of tech dif. of broadcasts. http://gomavs.unomaha.edu/livestats/mbb/0506/UND/xlive.htm
  13. UNO won the DII National Championship today. Not bad that all 5 of the sioux's losses came to National Tournament teams, but two of them came to the the National Champion. The young ladies also were one of two teams to beat UNO. It kind of put the season into perspective a little
  14. It might be a nice time to get soccer a scoreboard, I'm sure a package deal is possible.
  15. This program needs stability and commitment. Those things can come from many sources, its come from the player up to this point but now it's time to come from a coach (stay around for a while) and the administration (update facilities and increase scholarships). I think that Coach Thompson is in it for the long haul, unless something happens to drive him away. This program is so close to being a consisent performer on the national stage. Their 5 losses all came against teams in the National Tourament. Two of the being to UNO who is in the NCAA Championship game tomorrow and they were one of two teams to beat UNO this season. The offseason for soccer has always brought negative change for this program it's time for some positive change.
  16. bincitysioux I echo your message as I do support all of the sioux programs. It comes down to money as some of our programs aren't even fully funded (scholarship wise) at the DII level, the sport I most enjoy soccer included. The committment should be to position the university for the easiest possible transition when the move is made. That means update facilities (baseball, soccer, softball, track) fund scholarships to the maximum level (W hockey, soccer, and the others I'm not aware of). Increase the overall endowment to help the current budget strain. ALL OF THESE THINGS CAN BE DONE WHILE UND IS DII and BEFORE UND IS DI.
  17. Thanks for the post UNO RULES. I'm proud of those ladies, it's great to hear they played hard. Great Win ladies, you deserve it. Keep going and good luck on Sunday.
  18. Last home soccer game (Senior Day) today at 1pm at Bronson Field vs Duluth. Let's get out and support the ladies. They need 200 fans to break the all time attendence record. Good Luck Ladies
  19. Good weekend ladies. 8-1 in an odd game vs Missouri Western and 2-1 over #13 South Dakota. Is this the week we crack the top 25? Big game next Sunday when UNO comes to town. I believe they are in the top 5.
  20. GAME DAY! SIOUX SOCCER plays at 4pm at Bronson Field against Missouri Western. The crowds and atmosphere have been great this year, let keep it going! Good luck ladies
  21. Lets all get out and give our new coach some help with home opener for Women's Soccer. They play Southwest Baptist, #17 in the country, and NCAA tournament team from a year ago. I also heard that it is Grand Fork's Youth Soccer day, so lets get some kids there for them. GO SIOUX
  22. Does anyone know how the exhibition game vs Manitoba went lastnight? I wasn't able to make it and I don't see anything on the website.
  23. It appeared to me that they played a 4-3-3 with three central midfields and kept possession with the 4 backs that played zonal. The seemed to keep the ball better than some of the previous years. The outside backs got forward well at times and it appreared that the forwards were a little slow with their runs. I think that they will miss pfeiffer, but Jenna Barr back from an ACL injury last season did show promise. I also didn't see Megan Mutrie, but she is on the roster. Does anyone know if she is playing this year or just playing hockey. I think she would add alot to their three front. Judging by the 2-0 result and last years result against Mary (2-1). It looks as if things should be fine.
  24. Not a bad game for the new era of UND Soccer. The played much differently than they did the past couple years. It's always hard to tell things so early in preseason, but it should be another good year. I hope eveyone takes some time to catch the ladies in action.
  25. The Hyslop weight room is pretty well put together and nice for "the other sports" with out hockey (in the Ralph) and football (in memorial stadium) the other sports have time to lift as a team and the focus from a full time coach. To think that UND has a weight room in Hyslop, the Ralph, the stadium, and plans for one in the Betty. All of them are very well cared for and very schools in the nation can match the strength facilities.
