  1. I wouldn't doubt it. It have to realize that athlete's have to lift some where (UND has very good strength facilities), study some where, and train some where indoors (UND has able indoor space already and a new indoor practice facility would be a huge asset to all outdoor sports). It's likely that the strength facilities and the indoor training options outweighed an off campus field (that is pretty good too).
  2. Wow it surpized me that soccer is lower than swimming.
  3. Star 2 city do you know what the soccer recruiting budget is? I am curious. I would think that there should be a difference in sports that stats and times can go a long ways e.g. swimming and track and others that are a matter of perspective like soccer, football, hockey. Sports that you need to see the person play in person to get a idea of what they have.
  4. The following link is about UWGB struggle in DI athletics. It has pretty interesting facts and figures (more specific for BB), does anyone know how UND or ndsu stacks up? link: http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/sports..._21626571.shtml
  5. My gut feelings says that he will stay for awhile, but he is a talented young coach who will be sought after. He cares about N.D. and I think you will see him see his first recruiting class through. Looking at the schedule it appears that the NCC has gone to home and away in the same year. It means as fans we will get to see some great soccer, I'm curious what the NCC coaches think about beating up on each other twice a year.
  6. BREAKING NEWS Brock Thompson named women's soccer coach. This is a great hire. He will do a great job and if he's coming back to ND I think he's commited to staying for a while. I have had the pleasure of attending a coaching clinic he was a clinician at, at he is first class. Give this guy some time and he will produce even bigger results. Welcome coach, I'm glad to have you back up north. You have my support!
  7. Yeah I would agree. I'm sure that she would do a great job, and be very appealing to other schools BUT she was born and raised in Grand Forks! So maybe this is home for her.
  8. Young, yes but capable. Also, could bring some much needed stability. Fighting Sioux Soccer is a sleeping giant that has had a remarkable amount of success with very little stability. Stability could make the future very bright!
  9. I agree, and understand. But with soccer being a fall sport and the new AD not starting until July 1, it may be difficult to get it done in time. I think that soccer preseason typically starts around Aug 1st. That doesn't give time for the new AD.
  10. Cilz has done a great job with the coaching transitions over the past couple of years, I just wonder what they are waiting for. I'm sure if she interested it's driving her crazy not knowing and still holding the pieces together. Tim Bennet resigned on March 23, that means we are going on three months. It seems weird to me that its taking that long. I wish we knew what was going on.
  11. Everything has been quite for a while, has anyone heard anything? Brock Thompson was at the High School State tournament, at it was rumored he was interviewing around the same time. It just seems like we should have a coach by now. Is Jen Cilz (current assistant) being considered? Any news at this point would be good news.
  12. Tim Bennet resigned the March 23. Does anyone know if they have started to the process. I'm curious to know if they are waiting for a new AD or going forward. It just seems that either its quite tight lipped or they are dragging there feet. Anyone know? UND Soccer could have success on the national stage. But they need some stability and a good coach soon!
  13. and the SS.com vote is for . . . . .
  14. Sorry much like baseball and softball having a fall season. Thought I should correct myself before some of the message board vultures pick me apart.
  15. I don't know who they were playing but I can tell you that, soccer is allowed to have a small spring season of competition (4 or 5 dates) much like baseball and softball having a spring season.
  16. The USD coach resigned because her fiance (and former assistant MBB coach) was named Head Mens Basketball Coach at Datoka Wesleyan. It was just released the other day. She that rules her out. Anybody got any new news or thoughts on this. It seems that either the process is very tight lipped or not even moving forward right now (which would be a shame).
  17. I'm sorry feel free to jump all over me for my typo Anyhow the UND athletic website noted that another candidates is being brought in for a interview. Anyone know anything about him? thoughts?
  18. It looks as if South Dakota has posted an opening for a Head Women's Soccer Coach, could this be foreshadowing on an UND hire. I can't find a release for what happened with her, but the job is posted on the NCAA site.
  19. I see that there are some open session for the AD canidates for both students and the public. I was curious if some of those who were able to attend could fill in everyone else on this board. Just maybe little things about strengths and weaknesses and their interview in general. I know the canidates and thier resumes, I would just like to get an non bias opinion of those fortunate enough to meet or hear the canidates in their interview. Thanks
  20. Hopefully it will be soon! Imagine the program we would have if one person was able to recruit for a couple years in a row. I just beg the admin not to drag their feet with this one. Get someone soon that will be committed for significant time.
  21. The difference for playoff games is that only paid attendence counts. That means normally, will call give away tickets, the band, other halftime entertainment that gets free admission doesn't count toward "attendence" for the NCAA. So I am sure there were more there than the reported attendence.
  22. I agree, I think that we need a new coach with HCing experience. The learning curve of hiring an assitant would be too great. How long do you expect Mrs Rivard to be around? The biggest thing the women's soccer commitee needs is stability and some commitment from administration. We have had a very good program, but I want the adm. to realize that this could be a good program on the national level with a little stability and commitment. With that said, my vote still goes to Brock Thompson with three years of head coaching experience and two national tournament appearences, if indeed he is interested. He has spent many years in ND so I would assume that if he is interesting in coming back it is for long term. But I do agree we need someone with head coaching experiene and Rivard should make the first cut because of this.
  23. yeah the Dickinson rivalry will be missed. It was really kind of a hidden treasure in western ND. I like Mary will do fine, they may stuggle early in the big sports (football and MBB), but it won't take them long to get "DII" athletes there. I was at the UND v Mary soccer game this past fall and truly (like many of Marys other sports) their team was one of the better teams UND faced this fall
  24. If reference to Mayvilles record last year, the women were 3-12 and the men were 4-10. What was the reason he left UND? It seems that being an assistant at UND would be better than the head gig at Mayville? Does anyone know what kind of a time frame they are looking at? Didn't Bennett get named something like 2 weeks before preseason started?
  25. I have heard Brock Thompson name thrown around some. He was also talked about before when the hired grandstrand. For those of you that don't know he is a gem, who did great things for the University of Mary (their first two national tournaments) and Century High School (3 state titles in 4 years). He left ND last spring to be the assistant at Indiana State and I believe they had the best year in the programs history, finishing tied for second in the Missouri Valley Conference. Personally, I think he would be best hire, if indeed he is interested.
