I'm doubting the opinions of the Cugnut family and friends is universal in Colorado Springs. Do they even boo Lucia before the games? Do they ever boo down there? The only coach I haven't ever heard a player complain about is Woog. But if hatred for Lucia gets you through the nights by all means hate away.

Could you two quit quoting each other. Being hot is nice. It will not prevent your team from being pushed to the absolute edge in it's title pursuits. '00 Maine - Defending Champs - 12-0-1 going into the semis. UND beats them. '01 BC - Finishes on a 10-0-0 run. Taken to OT in Final by UND. '02 Gophers - Finishes 11-1-0. Taken to OT in Final by Maine. '03 Gophers - Finishes 10-0-1. Needs P. Martin save and OT to beat Michigan. '04 Maine - Finishes 10-0-0 before losing in Final. It's going to come down to getting the breaks and playing great. I'm very confident both UND and the Gophers are going to play great.

Speaking of standing on one's head. The CU crew was all over Goldy during the second intermission as he did one of his gags. They were nailing him with "Learn to skate" and "ugly rodent", he then proceeds to do a head stand on the ice giving them a good look at his breezers. In good sportsmanship the CU crowd even cheered the maneuver.

I think the experience factor and the senior factor are both overrated. This game will be decided by who plays better. I felt the Gophers were the better team during the regular season for about 6.5-7 of the nine periods. What did it get them? One easy win and two decisive losses. The Sioux's best players Genoway/Stafford and Zajac were dominant in Boston, if they can continue those efforts they will be very difficult to beat. The same can be said for the Gophers. If Briggs has returned to form and the only have one breakdown defensively on the weekend, they will have a good shot at winning the title.

Keys for the Gophers: 1. Limit the Sioux breakaways. Force the Sioux to grind out PP goals. 2. Stop a Sioux breakaway if/when it occurs. Every time I've seen your team lately they are cashing in breakaways. Goalies can stuff shooters, Briggs will need to do this. 3. 0-15 with a shortie allowed. Needless to say this will not be acceptable if they wish to play in the Final. The Gophs will likely need a PP goal to win. 4. Another goal by Kaufmann's line. If the Gophers accomplish all four items, they will win. Two or fewer they lose. Both teams will be ready, both will play very well. I really think the "7>5" will be changing again this year, but I honestly don't know which direction.

It's easy to outshoot someone when your goalie allows no rebounds.

I'd like to see UND face off with the Gophers. Two great teams and programs fighting for a shot at the title. My guys have to hold up their end of the bargain tomorrow.

Michigan losing was far more of a shocker to me than BC losing to UND. Not just the way they lost, but that fact that they lost at all. I was pretty confident UND would win the regional, but after seeing BC get outplayed and outhustled by Mercyhurst in the third period I figured they had no shot against UND.

Ferris by rights probably should have been considered the favorite. They had a great record and several great players. It did turn out that UND probably was the superior team, but just didn't get the result. I seem to remember UND outshooting them about two to one, but getting caught up in the hack attack and giving up PP goals. I went into the weekend expecting a Gophs/Sioux quarterfinal.
