  1. LennonistheMan and Bison Dan,the references to Mr Ziegler and nobody caring are related to the situation with the AD. I dont think his leaving is of the same level of concern with the situations regarding Lennon, Hakstol, and their relationships with the AD, and the hiring of the new womans hockey coach and the treatment given Steve Johnson during that process. So truth be told in regards to the Ziegler situation and the AD, it doesnt matter and isnt a concern. Just as the lack of softball coach doenst matter either in regards to the AD situation. It doesnt mean me or anyone else doesnt care about those programs, we all want UND to win and succeed no matter what the sport it, but facts are facts, and some programs carry more weight and carry the load here at UND. If Pete Carroll contemplated leaving USC because of his realtionship with the AD there, it would be of much more concern to the masses than having an vacant softball coach or the long time baseball coach leaving. It doesnt mean they dont care for those programs, but in relation to that would be Carroll situation it just wouldnt matter, no one would care about the other 2 situations. So in refernece to it here at UND, they just dont matter. JacksonW, junior high angst? Heck probably 95 percent of Sicatoka's posts are junior high angst and we dont hear a word about it. Attmept to persuade? I am begining to think that Sicatoka is perhaps related to Mr Buning. But I guess one feels he has inside information and it pertains to the baseball coach stepping down, and plays that off as important hard hitting inside information, how can one persuade him. He lives in a dream world where he knows all and tells all. He should step outside of it once and a while. Sicatoka, mabye you should try to get your hands on a very informative letter from a prominant alumni regarding the situation with the AD and his handling of certain situations. Now that would be having a source or having inside information, and might be quite inofrmative to you! And you might actually be able to see the other side of the politician/cheerleader. Check with the source that gave you the baseball coach info! If you dont have any luck check back with me. Junior high angst? Sometimes a person ,even one with over 6300 posts and all his credability that comes with those posts, just needs to be told the cold hard truth. He finally gave us the proof of why he has credability, holding back on the baseball coach situation, heck he knew about it days before it came out! He just didnt realize we werent all on the edge of our seats and wouldnt spend months talking about it. But in reality all it did was give us a very good laugh and prove what I said, "over 6300 posts and still nothing to show for it.
  2. Sicatoka, I know Tori Hunter's contract is up this year, and no I dont have any inside information in regards to that, but my boys get a kick out of Jason Kubal for some reason, just wondering if you have any inside info on his upcoming status, is he out of options to be sent to the minors, will he continue his good play, is he going to resign with the Twins, heck is his contract even up? If you know anyting please let us know! I am just trying to put your level of inside information into perspective for you. I dont think you get it, the lack of actually not having baseball or softball coaches doesnt matter, not one bit. I see they named an interim baseball coach, where is all the talk about who will actually get the job full time! Whereas the top college hockey coach left dangling into the final year of his contract is HUGE! It must be way past your bedtime! Lucky for you this is late and mabye most people wont see your "inside iformation", I wish they would, the laugh is well worth reading it. Nobody really cares if he left ,stayed or whatever. Again no offense to him,but it is the cold hard truth. Ok I guess someone does, obviously you do! I am sure you have seen Mr Buning in his politician and cheerleader mode, but this goes beyond that. Again as I said earlier mabye you should just sit this thread out! Even if you have experience in either of those, there is no room for it in this thread. Hey I have an idea, mabye you can start the " who will be the new baseball coach" and " who will be the new softball coach" threads(no offense to the players or coaches), I bet you have tons of inside information to share! Now I dont care who you are , thats funny!
  3. Sicatoka, for gosh sakes he was the baseball coach! Again no offense at all to Mr Ziegler, but I dont think it really matters in the big scheme of things either at UND baseball or REA. I wonder if we will retain all the players or if mabye some will turn pro( no offense to the players but they arent the same caliber as the hockey players) But SERIOUSLY, your putting that on the same level as Hakstol when it comes to leaving or having inside information? I know it is late , but come on, in a comment earlier I talked about common sense, lets use it.
  4. Sicatoka, your putting Ziegler to REA as your as your proof of having inside information? No offense to Mr Ziegler, I am sure he is a great guy, but who is he, what did he do and what is he going to do at REA. Seriously I dont know, let alone care. So please dont answer the question I asked earlier. I like most dont think that is worth knowing or caring about, let alone consider it inside information. I consider inside information something that matters. Again no offense to Mr Ziegler. I am sure he will do fine at whatever it is he will be doing at REA. Its just not something that matters at all. So if I were you I would try to come up with another example of having a source and access to inside information. Honestly I cant believe you used that as your example. I thought about turning on Saturday Night Live, but no way they can top the laugh I got from that.
  5. So let me ask you PCM, would you leave him dangling and just play it out and see what happens when the contract is done, or would you get him signed. Maybe you got caught up in Chauncey Billups resigning with the Pistons? But this isnt like the NBA where you can offer him a ton more money than the others and because of that he stays. So yes some of us in this instance and others could do the job of the AD the right way or maybe we could be like Mr Buning and just go about hiring more assistants for our own assistants assitants or make up another job in our department or whatever he is busy doing. Job one is sign Hakstol!
  6. I second what the "source" said, if you dont think Hakstol wants to stay here for more than 4years ,you dont have a clue. And yes that is directed at you Sicatoka. It just goes to prove what 7nationaltitles says, over 6300 postes and still nothing to show for it(that again is directed at you Sicatoka)! This isnt one of those silly comment topics, that can be used to pad your posts. This one is real and serious, and it may in fact cost UND a great coach, so maybe you should sit this one out! Hakstol would sign a new contract in a heartbeat (and no I am not going to give the link or my source). All the top college hockey coaches are getting extensions and at significant increases in salary far in advance of their contracts being up, in fact their assistants are also getting extensions and raises. If UND wants to stay a top flight program in hockey they need to keep pace with the others and it starts at the top with the head coach and his assistants, by locking them up for the long term. It would take an i---t not to have that done by now (and I am sure you can assume who that was directed towards). Heck the UMD athletic director did it with Sandlin, and look what he has accomplished there to deserve it. Again, only an i---t wouldnt have it done! And it doesnt take a link or source or rocket scientist for that matter to figure what Hakstol is thinking being the one top coach out there left dangling going into the final year of his contact, that is just simple common sense. What would we all think in that situation and what me might do with our future if we were dangling like that. One man at UND is responsible for that getting taken care of or leaving him dangling. Again, Buning do the right thing and leave on your own, so someone can get it done!
  7. So I guess the player that Fetch was refering to was way off base! There are going to be players who are more informed than others as to what is going on,as well as there are going to be "inside insiders"as Geauxsioux might call them, that are more informed than say Geauxsioux himself, Trunk Monkey, and even Mikejm. Believe it or not there are people who are fortunate to have access to things that all of us would love to have, it doesnt make them any better than others ,they are just more fortunate or rather more lucky I would say. They are fortunate or lucky to have a relationship with a coach, a player,a certain alumni,or who ever it might be that allows them access to inside information. And it doesnt mean they are bragging by sharing information or knowing something others dont. When they do state that they have information not available to all, they are generally attacked, and it is always by the ones that arent as fortunate. And it ends up that when they respond to those attacks that they are said to be bragging or whatever you want to call it, again by the ones that arent as fortunate but who would in a heartbeat switch places to be in that same position. Can anyone here truely say they wouldnt want to have that access? I know of one particular person, who after the Frozen 4 loss to BC in Milwaukee rather than go to the night game was lucky enough, because of a relationsip he has with someone, to go to dinner with Tony Hrkac and other memebers of the 87 championship team. All of us would die for that chance, but some are luckier than others, and on that day he was one of the lucky ones. With a relationship like that he has access to information that we all wish we did,but again we arent all as fortunate or lucky! Again it doenst make him any better than us, and its not bragging or whatever it might be called when he might share that info. In regards to this thread about Mr Buning, I have heard privately from many others that have as much or more information than I have and the response is always the same, that there is a problem and it is serious. As trunkmonkey might think it is funny how the informed are un-informed, it seams as that "player" is in fact one of them.
  8. Thank you very much Skateshattrick! And yes it is as bad if not worse with the men's hockey coach!
  9. Diggler, its not whining by any strecth of the imaganation, just stating facts. If I or 7nationaltitles or whoever were one of the "chosen" group of posters and stated what we have, it would have been taken as if it were the gospel. Hell if I was PCM, the "chosen" ones would be rushing the president's office in a mad panic demanding the AD be removed! Cause no matter what the "chosen" ones say or comment about ,even the trivial comments, they are taken as factual and insightfull . Again we may not be members of the "chosen" group, and I for one dont ever want to be, in fact it is right at the bottom, just above dying, on my list of things I want to accomplish, but we may have important, insightfull, factual comments to share on a subject. But not being a "chosen" poster,we are not for lack of better words accepted as knowing anything. Again its not whining it is just stating facts. Heck believe it or not there may actually be other people that know as much or even more than PCM! (disclaimer: PCM, I am not attacking you, just again stating facts) But because they arent "chosen" they are taken as " basically a bunch of ppl making something out of absouletly nothing" as some would say. Jim,in response to "When Bob6923, who signed up yesterday, posts that he just heard that Hakstol eats baby kittens, no one is going to believe him. Behind that handle is an unknown, anonymous person, who's just as likely to be playing out a personal grudge against Hakstol as trying to deliver true knowledge of his dietary preferences", again what I have said in regards to the AD is information that is know by many. So its not like it is some comment similar to the one about BOB6923, dont think it is even close! So to say " It's just simple prudence that if Bob6923 makes a wild or controversial statement, people aren't necessarily going to take it as gospel" doesnt even pertain to the comments I or others have made. The Bob comment is off the wall crazy ,whereas mine and others are pretty much common knowledge and are in fact factual. And known to be fatual by many people. Jim,when u say "The Sicatoka" has made thousands of posts without making false accusations, I am not sure he has made any posts regarding any true or false accusations. Best I recollect,he hasnt had any posts of for lack of better words "breaking information" which in fact could turn out to be right or wrong, rather most posts are a critique of someones comment or agreement of someones comments or just shall we say a "meaningless" statement. Again in advance, I may be wrong ,but I dont remember waiting for him to tell us the new recruit, or anything similar that, that could be as you say turn out to be a false accusation(no dislcaimer on this one Sicatoka). I was told in several private messages that if I stated what I have about the AD, I would be commented on as I have been. I told them then Idont care and I still dont. The situation is severe and needs to change. In mine and many others minds it needs to change in a way that he is no longer the AD here, and what little I can do to help make that happen , I gladly will!
  10. Well said 7nationaltitles!
  11. Sicatoka just knows what he is talking about! Heck he has ove 6000 posts, how cant he. Just ask Hockey Mom!
  12. I dont believe I said he WAS leaving ,what I said was "So taking all things into account it will not be a surprise to see him leave. If he stays it could only be for his love of UND and the football program here." And you say "Wow you were pretty close there!", do you honestly think Lennon wasnt very close to leaving? If so think again! And yes he did stay, but it was based on what I said and what he felt was best for his family at this time. Those things outweighed his dislike for the AD. I for one am not willing to take that chance each and every time Lennon or Hakstol has a new opportunity. It is really pretty common knowledge that there are severe problems within the athletic department among him and the rest of the staff, between him and the alumni association , and between him and many of the coaches, and I would in fact say between him and for lack of better words all the coaches that matter. You wont be able to tell this at a pregame function in St Paul or St Louis, where all parties have their "public" faces on, but there are real and serious problems. Whether you choose to believe me or the others that posted similar comments regarding the situation that is your choice. And what I said about Hakstol was "AND SO EVERYONE IS AWARE THE NEXT COACH IN LINE FOR A SITUATION VERY SIMILAR TO THIS ONE IS HAKSTOL. HE IS IN THE LAST YEAR OF HIS CONTRACT AND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR IS PROBABLY EVEN WORSE THAN LENNON'S. HAKSTOL IS A MAN OF PRINCIPAL AND HOLDS TRUST AS A KEY PART, AND FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD HIS CURRENT REALTIONSHIP WITH THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR COULD IN FACT CAUSE HIM TO LEAVE." Maybe you missed the word COULD! Again, I for one am not willing to take that chance. Maybe you arent aware, but Hakstol plays a much more improtant role in the success of the hockey team than does the AD! In regards to "Im just stating that what makes what you believe more credible than my sources?", I dont know you or your sources and you dont know me or mine, but whether you take this as being arrogant or not (its not ment to be), but actually I really dont care how you or others take it, the fact of the matter is sources cant get any better or more legitimate than mine. Believe it or not, its your choice, but it in fact is a fact. I am not going to repeat the conversations word for word for you so that you have all the information. What I have said here regarding the problems between the AD and others is in fact very common knowledge and that is why what and how I have said it is not in any way breached the trust of the people who have told me about it. They and me are not the only ones aware of the problems, far from it! If I put out the exact details ,which not everyone is aware of , then it would breach the trust. The details will stay private, yet many people know the problem exists. If your source doesnt know the problem exists, then I would suggest you find a new one, because it is in fact pretty well known!
  13. Tnt , think about what you are asking people to do, to give out information that they were give to by friends who trusted in them, and betray the trust they have in them and their friendship with them,so that "others", people who you dont even have a clue as to who they are, can know and be satisfied! Seriously think about that. Would you do that if I asked you? I dont have a clue who you are ,nor you me. I hope for your sake you wouldnt tell "others" the specific information you are now asking for.
  14. There is a Buning problem! Just because Siouxcrioux1 says is is "basically a bunch of ppl making something out of absouletly nothing", doesnt mean there isnt a problem. Just because someone doesnt know what the problem is(example being Siouxcrioux1), doesnt mean it doesnt exist. Siouxcrioux1 is obviously not privy to the information pertaining to the problems. And obviously doesnt have access or connections to the information. And as for those who ask for it to be clearly stated here, word for word, that is not going to happen. People are told things in confidence, exact details, and if they are put here for everyone to read, one would be betraying the trust that another puts in you. I for one am not going to do that, whether that pertains to the Buning problem, a player,or a recruit. What type of person would betray a freinds trust in order to post the information here just to fill in fellow forum people of the exact details? If thats what it takes for Siouxcrioux1 to believe it ,well then I guess he just wont believe it! Siouxcrioux1 and the others who dont believe there could be a problem with Buning have probably only seen him in his POLITICIAN MODE at a game or fan gathering doing his rah rah speech or standing across the room from him seeing him smiling. And if they arent able to see that is as fake as a real politician walking the line shaking hands or holding a baby for a photo opp, well then let them believe what they will. The ones who work with him on a daily basis and the coaches who deal with him would tell you a completely different story. A story that makes them seriously consider leaving rather than work with him. Just because Lennon decided to stay, doesnt mean that he doenst have a problem with Buning. It just shows that his love for UND and the football program here, along with what he feels is best for his family outweighed his dislike for Buning. That may not be the case the next time with him or any other coach for that matter. The next opportunity for him or another coach might be enough to offset the pros of staying at UND. As long as Buning is here, there is no reason to think the problem will go away. Among other things, once you have severly broken the man to man trust you have with someone, it can almost never be rebuilt. Buning is not here for the long term, I think most people understand that, SO I SAY AGAIN ,MR BUNING DO THE HONORABLE THING AND LEAVE NOW BEFORE SOMEONE WE REALLY WANT AND NEED DECIDES TO LEAVE.
  15. I posted this on the "Late Friday Afternoon" thread also, but wanted to make sure it didnt get missed. When UND Fan says it will be interesting to see if UND is doing anything to try to get Lennon to stay, I dont think Lennon would believe anything the athletic director would tell him or rather offer him to get him to stay. IF HE DOES IN FACT LEAVE UND , HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR WILL HAVE PLAYED A KEY PART IN HIS DECISION TO LEAVE. I AM NOT SAYING HE WONT LEAVE ALSO IN PART BECAUSE HE THINKS IT IS A BETTER OPPORTUNITY FOR HIM, BUT ANYONE IN HIS SITUATION WOULD NO DOUBT WAY ALL THE PROS AND CONS, AND IF YOU CANT STAND WORKING FOR OR TRUST THE PERSON YOU WORK FOR, THAT WOULD WEIGH HEAVILY IN YOUR DECISION PROCESS. AND THAT IS IN FACT HIS CURRENT RELATIONSHIP WITH UND'S ATHLETIC DIRECTOR! So taking all things into account it will not be a surprise to see him leave. If he stays it could only be for his love of UND and the football program here. AND SO EVERYONE IS AWARE THE NEXT COACH IN LINE FOR A SITUATION VERY SIMILAR TO THIS ONE IS HAKSTOL. HE IS IN THE LAST YEAR OF HIS CONTRACT AND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR IS PROBABLY EVEN WORSE THAN LENNON'S. HAKSTOL IS A MAN OF PRINCIPAL AND HOLDS TRUST AS A KEY PART, AND FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD HIS CURRENT REALTIONSHIP WITH THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR COULD IN FACT CAUSE HIM TO LEAVE. SO I ASK , WHO SHOULD LEAVE! I THINK THE ANSWER IS CLEAR TO EVERYONE. THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR/POLITICIAN HAS OVERSTAYED HIS WELCOME. PLEASE MR BUNING MOVE ON BEFORE WE LOSE ALL OF OUR GREAT COACHES! HE HAS NO WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH MANY OF HIS COACHES, OTHERS IN HIS DEPARTMENT,AND MANY IN THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION. THE DEPARTMENT IS TOTALLY DISFUNCTIONAL AND AT THE PRESENT TIME WITH UND'S SWITCH TO DIVISION 1 IT IS UNACCEPTABLE! THE CAUSE AND RESPONSIBILITY LIES WITH HIM! MR BUNING DO THE RIGHT THING AND QUIT NOW!

    Lee Watch

In regards to Marto, I am not sure if any of us (Siouxman/Thetriouxper),including me, are qualified to make judgements on him. Members of the coaching staff, former members of the coaching staff, and his coach( all who did actually watched him play) all felt that at the end of the year he was outplaying his fellow defenseman Petrecki, the highly touted Boston College recruit, who is projected to be a 1st round pick in this years draft. The coaching staff is extremely excited about having him join the team this year. Marto was a very sought after recruit and UND was lucky to get him. I was on a business trip to Bismarck and the person I was with was contacted roughly 10 -15 times in a 2 day period by the U of M regarding him. They wanted him BAD. Again I will defer to the experts on this, yes they are human and can be wrong, but it is extremely rare if ever.
  18. HockeyMom, I never said one thing about throwing the new coach off the bridge. But I am asking for Mr Buning to be thrown off the bridge! I guess more power to the new hockey coach. He was lucky enough to be looking for a job with a bumbling ----- in charge of the hiring. I wish I could fall into that(any suggestions for me). And other than the hemorraging of money the woman's program does on the athletic department budget, I dont give one ounce about the woman's hockey program here at UND(just being honest). But it in fact has a HUGE negative effect on the athletic departments budget, which in turn affects the men's hockey program at UND. The woman's program has already had a great negative affect on the men's hockey budget and it has no signs of slowing down(many may not know, but our men's hockey program is in fact greatly underfunded when compared to all the other top programs in the country). So no matter who the coach is I wont be attending anytime soon. BUT OTHERS MAY HAVE! AND THE HIRING OF THIS COACH WONT EXCITE ANYMORE PEOPLE TO SHOW UP AT THE GAMES, WHEREAS THE OTHER CANIDATES WE HAVE MENTIONED WOULD HAVE! Bottom line is no one knows if any of the canidates would have succeded or failed at the job, but I think we can all agree that if the HRKAC CIRCUS reunited at UND for WHATEVER REASON, it would have put more butts in the seats no matter what they did or where they did it at UND. That chance alone was worth hiring Steve Johnson! One more thing, AS I STATED IN THE OTHER THREAD ABOUT BOB JOYCE COMMITING TO BEING AN ASSISTANT COACH, TONY HRKAC WAS IN FACT SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING JOINING THEM ON THE BENCH. AGAIN ,THAT ALONE WAS WORTH THE CHANCE OF HIRING STEVE JOHNSON!
  19. Mr Buning, or should I say Bumbling, clearly cares more about his own agenda than UND's. SHOULD I START THE OFFICIAL "ITS TIME FOR BUNING TO LEAVE" THREAD?
  20. Just have one comment to Sioux_Hab-it regarding your comment of "Another frequent flyer lurking in the background, this is getting almost worse than the skippies" and regarding your comment about my 33 posts (thanks for letting me know, I dont pay attention to the quantity of them ,just the quality of them). Promise me that before you get to 3000 you have one of substance and quality. I picked that number to give you time and not to rush you into anything. But be carefull at your pace they will go by quickly!!
  21. It is common practice in the world of college sports for one team to be compensated financially for bringing thier team to a tournament or even just a regular game. For example, the Bison were paid to play the University of Minnesota Gopher football team,in that case, for lack of better words, paid to go to minneapolis and lose. Not lose in throw the game but lose as in we (UM) know we can beat you. Now in this case ,of the UND hockey team going to play in Dartmouth's tournament,we were no doubt compensated to come there and sell tickets. I wonder if the Dartmouth athletic director will disclose how much she paid the UND hockey team to come there. Probably not, it would just make her look like an even bigger idiot!

    Hrkac shirts

Petey, I sent you an email about getting a shirt from you and getting them signed by Hrkac, so you know who I am, without saying my name this is Pam's brother, I may be able to sell a few of them for you, talk to you tomorrow
  23. the athletic director and his staff are the problem,IN HIS MIND,they are more important than the coaches,at least they think so,maybe he can hire a few more and maybe he can have an assistant to the restroom, that is about the only thing that he doesnt have an assistant for, IS HE LIEAVING ANYTIME SOON??

    Brad Berry

when Sioux-cia commented about the bad part of having the best college hockey program and others wanting what we have and doing what it takes to get them, its true and when it comes to the players there is only so much you can do to keep them, but when it comes to the coaches, there is a lot more you can do and UND needs to make sure they step up and do everything they can to keep them, with our athletic director and things as they are now, I am not sure that was the case with Brad Berry

its true and it is the Moose, seems to have happened fast, from the start of the process to it coming out already, I believe they werent the only ones interested in him, it takes great coaches to get great players and we shouldnt be surprised that they have options also, it will be a huge loss for the program, he played a large part in the recruitment and development of all the players, from the top talent to the everyday role players, UND needs to make sure Hakstol is taken care of or he may look at his options also, if you saw the contract that Eaves and Sandlin recently signed, their level of compensation is way beyond Hakstol's, Eaves and his assistants recently all got big raises, yes they won a national title, but Hasktol and his staff have 2 final fours in thier first 2 years, if our athletic director cut back on adding his "assistants to this and that", UND maybe could compensate the coaches at the level they deserve and the level of other top tier programs, not sure if that is why he left, but it all plays a part in the decision process,as it would for any of us in our professions I for one wouldnt be surprised to see Hakstol move on if things dont change
