Personally, I wouldn't want them responsible to cover my back.

When's all said and done, we're all Americans who love our country and we'll do anything to keep her safe. To many this man is an oxymoron. Carlos Arredondo, Peace Activist, Hero.

Just to break up the tension a little bit.

Why? Where have I called been disrespectful in my response to your posts? Please reference any post where I have called you names? I hope your over reaction to a statement on a message board doesn't extend to innocent remarks made by your family or friends. And, that is not meant to be snarky.

You need to step back and think about what you say before you say it. This thread has outlived it's purpose and needs to be closed.

As the person who apparently started this, let me state that no one is denying that these young men, are Muslim, are evil and deserve to go to hell. Someone made the statement 'If this makes people take a different look at the Muslim community as a whole in this country, well...' and I said the statement smacks of racism. The poster of said comment took it to mean I was calling him/her a racist. As so it began.....

No where has anyone called you names. This is totally uncalled for. If you can't handle the discussion without name calling, stop.

We need to remember that not all members on this site are adults. 'We can set a good example for your children by speaking kindly of others, and not resorting to rudeness yourself. This is quite important, since many verbal bullies first learn to dominate others with words by listening to their parents, and how they interact with others. '

No, you don't but I'm not surprised.

We've posted some, IMO, valid responses to yours. If you have nothing further to add, I understand. BTW, I did not call you a racist, ignorant nor hateful. I said your statement about taking 'a different look at the Muslim community as a whole in this country...well so be it.' smacks of racism. I didn't call you any names. In addition, you have no idea what my political affiliations are. What I am is a person who has been subjected (I refuse to say victim) to racism and violence.

We're not innocent. 'WASHINGTON — A nonpartisan, independent review of interrogation and detention programs in the years after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks concludes that “it is indisputable that the United States engaged in the practice of torture” and that the nation’s highest officials bore ultimate responsibility for it.' http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/16/world/us-practiced-torture-after-9-11-nonpartisan-review-concludes.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

82SiouxGuy posted, 'The only interaction most of them have with US citizens is with the US military.' A good friend of my son works as a forensic specialist for the Army. When she told me what her job duties entail, I was shocked! I shouldn't have been because the people who are in the military are just people. Know that not all of our 'heros' are. We are not the only ones who base our opinions of a group by the actions of a few. Not saying that's why Muslims hate us. I don't know why some Muslim's hate us. I've read stuff, talked to the few Muslim friends I have and I still don't have an answer. This is the closest I've come to an answer. Read the whole article. 'So please, enough of the questions. Muslims do not hate America. Muslims in the East, like non-Muslim Americans in the West, both hate injustice. Peace is possible despite free speech differences—but only by joining together against injustice.' http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/guest-voices/post/why-muslims-hate-america/2012/09/21/520dd22e-043f-11e2-8102-ebee9c66e190_blog.html

It's good to laugh!! I'm the only one that gets in trouble when she gets loose!

Sorry for letting the Bit@h take charge!

OK. I have a lot I can say right now about snarky comebacks and personal insults but I won't. We've been friends since 2005 (!!!) and I don't want that to change. Good night and tomorrow is another day.

Yep, yep, yep....

Really? I post my opinions and know they are not those of the majority. I get responses that are insulting and after a few I respond in like fashion. Tomorrow I'll be less ' passit_offthegoalie' whoever the heck that is.

Your welcome.

Have you ventured into politics? Your twist on my post is pretty classic. I do not feel safe in some venues because I cannot identify the crazies. They come in all colors and belong to different religious group YOU twisted it to imply I was speaking only of people who hate Islam. I posted the list of mass murderers as a way to point out not all mass murderers in this country are Muslims or easily identified before hand. Got it? Or do you want to continue to ridicule me and entertain the right wingers/left wingers/racists who hang onto your every word?

I have never watched/listened to Chris O'Donnell and have watched Rachel Maddow once for sure, maybe twice. As for Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, aren't they comics/satirists? I'm not drawn to news 'talk shows'? Let me ask you this, why do you classify so much as left or right? Why can't my opinion be Jo's opinion?
-
Why? Because of the number of violent acts that have happened in this country. The majority, I may add, from non Muslims. I would feel so much safer if I could look at someone, say a Muslim, and know they are the only group that is capable of terroristic acts but that's not a reality. The crazies come in all colors, religious groups, etc. When you or anyone else states that we need to be suspect of a specific group of people because of what one or a few have done, that can and does result in violence against the innocents in that population. Makes us no better than the crazies who commit these acts of violence.
