  1. Yeah, Favre's got no talent around him. Greg Jennings has just been terrible this year (9td's), Donald Driver, and did someone on here actually say Driver is only Avg. Thats just stupid. Not to mention Donald Lee who has clearly established himself as a top 6 or 7 Tight End in the league.

Favre's been great, he has, but to not give Brady the MVP up to this point in the season would be insane. HOWEVER, should he struggle the last five games than we can talk, but who honestly sees that happening.

  2. A quitter and crybaby maybe, but he isn't quitting or crying this year. Probably the best receiver all-time when you talk about talent, it's becoming pretty clear when you put him around an All-Pro quarterback that he's the best (don't bother comparing him to Rice, Rice played with Montana and Young for the majority of his career).

  3. No, soohockey15, you are the tool. lives-to-play-hockey speaks respectfully and articulately, he doesn't come across like a smack talking teenager the way you do.

I feel bad for your kid DaveK simply because he has to be around you growing up. His hockey knowledge will be crushed for life and i suggest you put him in a pair of figure skates because with you at his helm he's on the fast track for failure and a certain fate of mediocrity. Good luck DaveK because i'm done arguing with your sixth-grade education. Hope all goes well and....wait i really don't hope it goes well. Riders 06 ride or die my man.

  4. Slow down, Soo. LaPointe and Trupp have been awfully good.

as a pre-note... THIS IS NOT AN ATTEMPT TO BASH ANYONE!!!

O.k. I would say overall that Trupp has been alright but awfully good at this point would be a stretch. This far into the season and he just got his first goal...it bothers me. He wasn't brought in here as a role player---he was brought in as a goal scorer.

LaPointe has been good...ha i'll certainly agree with that. But to be realistic Marto's has been a better puck moving defensemen, but both of those two do a GREAT job of recognizing when to jump in the play and thats not coached, thats instinct. So i'm excited to see how all these guys keep developing and how much they have improved by the year's end. If they continue to improve as much as they have in the first ten games...could be scary.

  5. Do you think I want type all of that, I know what it all means. Your just pissed that I know what I am talking about. Have a good day! ???

You obviously don't know what you're talking about, you think Jeter is a good defensive player.

  6. Congratulations, you know how to use the copy and paste function; well done. Also, it was about Jeter to start, you brought up that his defense set him apart from other shortstops; this obviously isn't true.

Hey, I can use the copy/paste too!

    From Siouxkid12:

"To start on Derek Jeter, I hate the Yankees but Jeter is at best and average hitter but his fielding is what makes him, in 1783 games he has only 182 errors which gives him a percentage of .975 which is very good."

Using fielding percentage as a telling defesive stat is like saying David Eckstein is a good hitter because he hit .310 this year. Also, I'm not really sure where you get that Jeter is at best an average hitter, he went .322/.388/.452. He had the 5th best OPS of all shortstops, so I'd say thats much better than average, considering he isnt a big time power hitter and the guys above him all posted much better SLG numbers.

  7. I wouldnt ask for your opinion if my life depended on it. Is this your own list that you came up with? Because i would LAUGH MY @$$ off if i saw your list. No, batting average and RBI's and HR dont mean crap when talk about offensive stats. Lets talk about on base percentage, or maybe slugging percentage, maybe Isop, those would be just a few things I would talk about when talking offensive stats.

Get a clue SOOHOCKEY, get a clue

Well at least you know which offensive stats matter (although I'd love to hear your reasons *why* BA and RBI are overrated and OBP/SLG and OPS are the most important ones). Still, you haven't responded to my comments on fielding percentage and Derek Jeter.

  8. Obviously the Coaches and Managers thought Griffey had enough merit to win one. But this argument started as why Kent Hrbek shouldve won one and you still have yet to prove that he shouldve won it. Don Mattingly was the best fielding 1st basemen of his era and he has the awards to prove it. Ask anybody that knows anything about major league baseball or works within baseball and they will tell you that Don was the right choice.

oh and by they way Griffey didnt play in 111 games in 1994...he played in 103 in CF and 1 in RF and then 9 games as a DH.

and in 1995 he played only in 70 games in CF and 2 as a DH

Once again you didnt do your research :silly:

The awards don't mean anything, after a while players begin to win on reputation over skill (Torii Hunter, Ivan Rodriguez). I just wish sportswriters could get over the fact that there is more to defense than having a play shown on Baseball Tonight.

Also, I'd love to see your response to my fielding percentage rant.

  9. give it to someone who had a mere 3 errors in 105 games? that would be the stupidest thing ever, of course he is going to have less errors

HE PLAYED IN A LOT LESS GAMES.

To answer your question of how many GG did JR. win when he played a partial season...ZERO

God you are getting dumber each time you speak...Griffey has only 10 GG and those 10 gold gloves all came when he played in SEATTLE not with the REDS it wasnt tell he got to the REDS that he started getting injured.

This post is important to people who think they know how to rate players on a defensive level.

You, my friend, are the reason that fans do not get votes in Gold Glove voting. First of all, fielding percentage means basically nothing, ESPECIALLY when it comes to first basemen. Try looking at some other metrics, such as Range Factor (the single most telling stat when it comes to defense) and Zone Rating.

Since you believe Derek Jeter is a good fielder, I'll assume you have no idea what these stats mean and have never seen them. Zone Rating is how many balls you get to that are hit in your defensive zones. Jeter ranks dead last in all of baseball in this stat. Range Factor, for reasons you will soon hear, is the most important stat when evaluating players defensively. The formula is simple, (putouts + assists)/innings. In short, its basically how many balls the player gets to and successfully make plays on, not only taking range into account, but also how well a player can make outs. Derek Jeter ranks second to last in this stat, and last in the American League. I suppose if you want to look at fielding percentage, Jeter also was in the bottom third of all shortstops in this category.

I also will assume, because you think that fielding percentage is so important, that batting average and RBI (the two most overrated offensive stats) are all a fan and scout needs to know about a player's offense. Get a clue, siouxkid12, get a clue.

Link to defensive stats (Range Factor and Zone Rating are the two stats at the end of the list)

    Defensive Stats

If you ask nicely, I will give you the people who should've won Gold Gloves in the AL/NL (hint: Torii Hunter isn't one of them).

  10. Why did you edit your post?

Because I wrongfully added something in there that was a dig at your character. I don't want to start doing that, obviously you have no problem with it.

  11. You have problems, and for some reason Mr. Radke is the target of your animosity. I think it must be one of the following reasons:

    1. Radke boned your old lady.

    2. You are the fat friend of a chick that Radke boned and never called again.

    3. You finally realized that your fantasy about you and Radke will never come true cause he's not into guys. Too bad for you.

A classy post by an equally classy guy. When are you going to realize I have nothing against him is a person?

  12. I don't give too much credit to Wilson, because he has given up a huge upset (2005 I believe, maybe 2004) to teams that are lower caliber than what he had under him. Along with last year, where he was unable to control his players (not entirely his fault, some players just don't get along) and ended up losing state because they couldn't work together. I'm not saying he isn't a great coach, I'd just like to see him pull the team together to pull down a favorited team this year with a team that wasn't state-renowned. In my opinion, this year would be his chance to do that. If he can pull down RR with the team he has this year (Wilson will likely have a lot of talent coming up, but RR is stacked) he will be one of the best coaches in the area, no doubt.

I'm still sceptical as of now.

A.) He never had teams that were clearly better than anyone else.

B.) They didnt lose state last year because they couldn't work together, they lost because RR was just better.

C.) We could shut this thread down now because the outcome of the season is already known...it is.

  13. It's because he plays on an undefeated team. Just like with Gold Gloves in baseball, where if you can hit you can win a Gold Glove (Derek Jeter), if you are on the best team in the country you'll be viewed as a better player.

  14. Triouxper, I guess I understand where you are coming from. Obviously, none of us are allowed to have opinions that are anywhere near negative. Everything is all sunshine and smiles despite how badly the team or a few players play. I have made ZERO comments degrading Radke as a person, only the way that he plays. It seems to me like you are the guy who thinks everyone should play equally, no matter what they bring to the table. Maybe its the unbelievable bias you can't see past that makes you think that everyone is good and deserves a spot in the lineup or maybe its some personal thing you have against people that share opinions that differ from your own. I just don't know why you feel the need to play Captain Dad on these threads and tell people that by bashing players they aren't REAL Sioux fans.

  15. This is intended for soohockey15 and mygarske. Why don't you take your fair-weather fan attitude, and your bull$%!# player bashing and go right on over to gpl where you will fit in just fine. When I say that you have no clue about what goes on in the locker room with this team, it is dead on. You two are the ones that need to shut your mouths and quit bashing a guy who goes to practice and works hard every day, puts in his time during the off season, and like it or not IS A PART OF THIS TEAM. You both can pucker up and kiss my...

HEY HEY Triouxper...you continue to amaze. You rock. God your awesome. I'm glad you know the definition of fair-weather fan too. Pretty dead-on accurate. Because i don't believe your boy Radke is worthy of cracking this line-up (which has an already nice combination of skill players and role-players) you go out on that "limb" to call us both fair-weather fans. I love this hockey team and i watch them good or bad. I HAVE 0 against Radke as a person and i would sure hope he works hard in practice. NOT BELIEVING THAT ONE PLAYER IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH DOES NOT QUALIFY AS A FAIR-WEATHER FAN. As for you Triouxper you fit in with that majority of Sioux fans that just don't have the slightest clue about the game of hockey but like to pretend they do. So come back at me with some real damn reasons and then we'll talk. Until then. Shove it.
