The word on the street is both Mays and Mertens would not have been offered a scholarship even if they were available. Both would have had to earn one. Comparing Mertens to Winkelman is like comparing Ford to a Lincoln. Mertens has never played against any DI competition and Wnkelman has played against some of the best in the nation and excelled. I'm happy your happy with the bb team but I think you'll find out what's it's all about when you start playing DI competition.

If Mertens would have went to NDSU it would have been covered more by the Forum because it's NDSU. I can't help it that the sports media in gf sucks and coverage of UND is poor. Did you catch the KX4 special on our spring game?

Mertens is a better athlete but we'll see if he has the head and intangibles that Steve had. He looked good at the spring game.

I agree with you about the insignificance of playing - but you need to tell all the coaches and your new AD that. It get's sicking hearing all the time how they want to start playing again. It must mean something to them.

I don't think that the last 3 AD's had that much control over hockey anyway. Hockey at UND is it's own entity, but now that every sport will be DI that might change.

Looks like the powers to be at UND have given the BoHE the task of getting the nickname problem off the table so Kelly won't have to deal with it when he takes over.
