I am not sure. According to the boxscore he was always in the lineup, but he wasn't putting up any points. Not sure if he got put on another line, if teams were just targeting him, or if he just had a run of bad puck luck. He was stuck at 39 points for a month or so.

Wade murphy has a 7 point night so far (2 goals, 5 assists) and the game is only in the 2nd period. It is good to see him pick up the pace again. He had been absent from the scoresheet for most of the last month.

Johnson held his own....sort of. Was fighting a much bigger dman who had 3 inches on him. Poolman logged at on of ice time and played very well. Johnson did ok, but wasn't on the ice a ton and Voltin was used only sparingly and didn't hear his name much. So, not an outstanding game for any of the recruits (besides maybe Poolman), but no real mistakes so that is good.

Tucker Poolman...Omaha DMan. He is the third UND recruit playing in this game, Thompson is not in the game.

I also wonder if there is a deal in place for his brother. He got a scholarship to DU pretty much based solely on the premise of Dakota following him there. With his brother being benched most of the year, it may have helped push them both to the OHL.

I didn't think he was any worse than the other D for the Force. He is not flashy and isn't going to be an offensive D-man; but he played the body well and was in position in his own zone. I saw him get limited ice time at D in 2 games and play wing for a period in another game. He has a ways to go, but I think the raw talent is there. Bottom line is if he spends a whole year on the practice squad it will REALLY set him back.

Does anyone have ANY insight into the Pelnik situation. As I have stated before, I have seen him a few times playing for the Force and he seemed solid, but never really saw much ice time. I saw the Force traded away one of their top defensemen, so I thought Pelnik would get more icetime. Is he injured, on the outs with the staff, or just deemed not good enough??

Does anyone know if the Student Section tickets for the Holy Cross series have opened up yet?? I am trying to buy tickets and so far my options are horrible. I don't know whether to just pull the trigger now or wait to see if the Student Section opens up closer to the series. I would appreciate any insight. Thanks.

I have watched Jordan Nelson a few times this year and have not been impressed. He is a liability on defense and doesn't like to hustle unless the puck is on his stick. He does have some skill and a decent shot......but I don't think he would see the ice for UND. That's just my opinion of course.

Doesn't have to do with college hockey....but there is a connection and since UND just played Notre Dame....I figured some people may find this interesting: http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/11/27/red-wings-prospect-caught-drunk-in-teletubbies-costume/

I don't think so, although he was earlier this year. I have seen him play a couple of times and while I thought he played quite well, in both cases the Force coach has sat him for the majority of the last two periods. Not sure if he and the coach have beef, if there is a lingering injury, or if the other defensemen are just preferred. To be honest, I thought the Force's D was very WEAK and the top pairing made many mistakes and costly turnovers.

Thanks, I must have missed that boxscore this weekend. I just saw the Friday score.

Does anyone have any updates on the USHL recruits?? I saw Pelnick play part of a game for the Force and he hasn't been in the lineup since. I know he was coming off of an injury, and I thought he played well, but I am curious if he is benched or still hurt. Same goes with Mantha, he hasn't been in the lineup lately along with Rowe? I believe Johnson also sat out Saturday's game this past weekend. Any info on how many of these are injuries and how many are performance based??

I was at the Force game last night and watched Pelnik play. He didn't get very much ice time, but from what I saw I was fairly impressed. He is BIG and plays with alot of edge and has a nasty streak (two things I feel are vital for a defensemen). He did make a few mistakes, sloppy passes and was a bit over aggressive at times; but overall I was impressed. What confused me was that for as good as I thought he played, he didn't see ANY ice time in the 3rd period and very little the first two periods. Not sure if he is still injured or maybe the coaches have another opinion of his performance. I thought the Force's defense was HORRIBLE. Their captain and #13 (Wade) got most of the ice time on the blueline and I thought they made many more mistakes than Pelnik and were VERY soft in their own end. Anyways, just my two cents, but for as much as the hype around Pelnik has died down, I think we may have another MacWilliams/Blood on our hands.....with a bit more coaching that is.

Nice article on Luke Johnson and his family and hocke connections: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=643279

I was checking out the Force roster and noticed they have Charlie Pelnik listed as a F, but Brad has him listed as a defenseman. Anyone know who is mistaken (I am going with the Force....)? I thought I recall the article about his initial commitment stating he was a defenseman, but maybe he has since changed positions.........

I was just checking if anyone had any insight. I know its early in the season, I am basing my question off of last year and some of the off season comments. I was curious about the Abuse of an Official penalty (that is how it is listed, not my wording). It just seemed like both of those commits got alot of hype right away and both have seemed to sort of 'disappear' over the last year. I didn't mean to start a debate.......hockey season just needs to start already.

Anyone have any ideas on Luke Voltin and Jack Rowe?? Will we ever see them in a Sioux uniform? It seems like both have hit the wall as far as development is concerned and Voltin has seemed a little unstable. I noticed while he has a nice game last night, he got 15 PIM for face masking and abusing an official.....not a good way to start the season.

I agree, UND will need his speed on the back end. Plus he got very high marks for playing D at the Blackhawks prospect camp. I expect to see him at D. We are much deeper up front (remember the older MacMillian will be eligible after the break) than we are on the back end. I think Gleason starts over Panzarella in most cases and only if Schmaltz underacheives does someone else get a shot.
-
I don't see Pattyn (and maybe even Senkbeil) sitting more than some of the incoming Freshies. Hak always loves to form a grind line and those two are going to be big parts of it. We can't roll 4 pure offense lines, every team needs that line that shuts down the opponents.
-
I assume its safe to say UND has their eyes on this kid: http://slightlychilled.areavoices.com/?p=2251 But does anyone know for sure??

Did anyone else get the impression that Brock Nelson took the regional loss maybe a littler harder than anybody else on the team?? Watching the finale of Through These Doors, it seemed Nelson really took the loss hard, even days later (which is understandable), so I have to wonder if the disappointment and heartache had something to do with his signing. I wish Nelson all the best and don't blame him for signing, but personally I thought one more year would have pushed him to the level he needs to be at to crack the NHL lineup.

Anyone know why Koules has been playing with the U17 team instead of the U18 team??? He played both USHL games this weekend, while the U18 team played against NCAA school.... Was he demoted?? Anyone have any info?
-
His father played at Maine and he is from the East coast......IF he goes the NCAA route, I think anyone besides Maine, BU, and BC would be hardpressed to land him.

I know that College Hockey Inc. is limited in what it can do to counteract Major Juniors and I also understand that its not an instantaneous solution, but the fact that more and more NTDP kids are breaking committments is a quite ridiculous. Why hasn't Paul Kelly sat down with that organization and tried to reach an understanding. If other coaches/managers/etc. use their position to influence their players, why doesn't USA Hockey work on keeping their players in the US!!!!! If our own countries best development program isn't willing to fight for their players to go the college route, what hope does college hockey have?
