  1. This is where the program is at............... Big Sky Thursday Night Preview
  2. The Big Sky has softball, they started it shortly after UND joined.......
  3. It was a cost sharing deal between the Park District and UND.
  4. We can all agree to disagree, that is fine. Personally, I really like the sport of baseball. After football, it would be my favorite sport to watch. It was my best sport as a player in school. But I also like to think I am practical. The season is just a little over 3 weeks away. The average high temp in Grand Forks on February 13 (Opening Day) is 21 degrees. This has been a mild winter, but on average, there is already 13.5 inches of snow on the ground by the date of this year's opening day. On top of that, during the first 3 months of the NCAA baseball season, Grand Forks receives an additional 15.9 inches of snow. There are few quality baseball players from outside the region that would come to North Dakota to further their baseball career. The best players from this region are going to go to warmer climates to further their careers. Unless there is a major benefactor making baseball self-sufficient, no one will ever convince me that it is a good investment at the University of North Dakota. As I said earlier, It worked in the NCC because virtually every team was just a short bus trip away. Back then, the weather caused postponements rather than cancellations. I wouldn't be in favor of adding Lacrosse. It would just be another sport that nobody cares about, however I think there would be a much bigger upside to lacrosse than there is for baseball. If I were AD for a day, I'd drop baseball and women's hockey and divert all the resources to football and basketball. That may be unpopular, but being practical often is...............
  5. I don't think anyone is saying that Coleman should flat out take someone's spot, at least I am not. But I think he should be utilized more. Tyler is streaky. De Rouen is constantly in foul trouble. Hooker is playing 37 minutes a game in league play. These guys were exhausted in the OT last Saturday, you could tell from the stands. I just think everybody would benefit if Coleman were in the regular rotation and getting 15-20 minutes a game, instead of 7 one night, then 0 the next.
  6. What is the return on baseball though? It generates no income, and more than that, little to no interest. It is hands down the worst investment for the Athletic Department.
  7. I've got 2 for sale for the Saturday game 1/24/15. Section 103, Row P. $90 for the pair. PM or Text 701-797-7021
  8. I agree that Brady should have come out of the game much earlier. I was cringing on that one low hit on the series prior to the one where he came out.
  9. Oops, I was counting the 1993 Bills, but I guess that would be 21 seasons ago. Jets recently went to back-to-back AFC title games. But I agree, that compared to New England, there is a significant drop off. But you could say that about the league as a whole since the Bob Kraft bought the Patriots.
  10. Ha! In the last 20 years, an AFC East team has participated in the Super Bowl 8 times and in the AFC Championship 13 times! You could definately make a case that the NFC North has been the worst division in the last 20 years though. Packers and that is it. Bears had one good year I think........
  11. Ha! That snow plow is in the Patriots Hall of Fame! I prefer to think of them as innovators........
  12. Ha! I forgot you are a Dolphins fan. My sympathies................... 8th Super Bowl appearance in 29 years for my Pats. And of course they cheated to get to every one of them............ Bummer about the Packers though. I would have liked revenge of the 1997 Super Bowl.
  13. In addition to Tyler having a great game, how about the effort by Hooker? 14 pts, 10 assists, 6 rebounds. The 6 rebounds led the team, and that fact right there is a big reason for the end result. Still, I continue to love watching Hooker. But with a 7 footer and an ultra athletic 6'8" forward, our point guard should never lead this team in rebounding. He is always working hard. Plays a lot of minutes too. Has to be gassed.....
  14. I think they were exhausted in OT. Same 5 out there mostly for last 9 minutes
  15. Tyler is clutch today. Making me eat crow. Glad to do it. Helluva game Estan......
  16. Oy vay...... OT
  17. Attendance is 2321. Nice turnout and getting an entertaining game...
  18. Didn't miss a FT in the 1st half, but got out rebounded 20-13. Both teams shooting ng around 40%....
  19. Pretty solid first half. Lots of new lineup combinations. Tyler with 12 in the first half. Obviously I am a great basketball mind.......
  20. Coleman needs to get some of Tyler's minutes, if for nothing else than to grab a few rebounds. Tyler is shooting 25% in the last 4 games. I know Coleman's shooting numbers are not fantastic, but this team was playing much better basketball early on in the season when Coleman was starting and playing 20+ minutes against UNI, SDSU, Alabama St. etc. He was averaging more than 5 boards a game through the first 5. They both are shooting around just 30% on 3 pointers but IMO Coleman offers alot more defensively and is much more versatile. I'm sure if Coleman shot it as often as Tyler does he'd be scoring in double figures too........
  21. Coleman already seems to be an odd-man out. I would think he is a candidate to not return next season. Too bad he seems very athletic. I would like to see him getting some of Tyler's minutes. One would think he could grab a rebound or two and play good defense.
  22. Sadly, I tend to agree with this. It is unfortuante, but it seems to me that a there is a good contingent of North Dakota fans that would prefer to see its two arch rivals, NDSU & Minnesota fail, than they care to see UND succeed. Take for example this statement: I'm sorry, but in my eyes, making the playoffs to the national tournament is MORE important than some early regular season non-conference game. It is like saying going 2-9 would be a successful season as long as one of the wins was against you know who. Looking at the playoffs as a consolation prize is something I don't understand. North Dakota fans need to set their bar a bit higher. And congrats to NDSU. 4 straight is remarkable.
  23. The effort here is pathetic......
  24. North Dakota (5-9, 1-2 Big Sky, #239 RPI) vs. Portland St. (7-6, 1-2 Big Sky, #258 RPI) Saturday January 10, 2:00 at Betty Engelstad Sioux Center Game Notes PSU Website PSU Message Board Television: Midco Sports Network, Fox College Sports Pacific, WatchBigSky Audio: 1440 AM, UNDInsider Vikings are coming off of a 5 point loss at Northern Colorado. They have a win against USC from early in the season, which is impressive, but other than that they haven't looked like anything special. They are another guard oriented team. Coach Jones is 4-1 all time against PSU so there is that. Only prediction I will make is that we will be out-rebounded.
