  1. Here's what Bubba had to say about UMD's possible move to the NSIC. Link
  2. Maybe Bubba would consider becoming Defensive Coordinator/Associate Head Coach at a Division I program? I'd be all for that.
  3. I think UND playing night football games would be a fantastic idea for early season non-conference games especially. It would certainly raise attendance. Part of the problem with afternoon games is that it basically blows the entire day. The catch is that once hockey season starts, the football team would be commiting suicide if there were home football and hockey games the same day. If that ever occurred, attendance for the football game would be in 5,000 range. I don't think the coaching staff would want to have to be shifting the start times for football week to week to accomodate hockey, they like to stick to a set schedule, that is why they are always in the afternoon. But I would love it if they had night games at the very least for early season non-conference games, or maybe even up until the start of hockey season.
  4. I would like it if Basketball had its own forum. Alot of times I just glance at the main page to see what threads have the newest posts and miss alot of posts made regarding basketball when women's hockey or soccer or something has the most recent post. If it had its own forum maybe there would be more discussion about it. The season threads for M & W basketball get long also by the end of the season.
  5. I am also very pro-DI biased, but I would love for our football program to exit DII with a national championship trophy in tow. I would like to see a repeat of last year's schedule with the 11th game added. 8 conference games, 1 DI game (hello, Montana St.), 1 home patsy (while I wouldn't look forward to playing them, Bemidji or Tiffin would be good for strength of schedule), and then 1 out-of-conference clash with someone like Pitt St. or NW Missouri. Unfortuantely, since it will be our last year of DII, any out-of-conference home game is probably gonna be against a crappy team that we had to over-pay to get here, because there will be no promise of a return game by UND for them.
  6. If this passes in January, wouldn't that also make NDSU and SDSU eligible immediately for the 2007-08 year?
  7. Is the NCAA/CS actually considering expanding the playoff field, or is that just message board fodder?
  8. I'm looking for 4 lower bowl tickets together for the Saturday, Jan. 13th Alaska-Anchorage game. Offering $30/ticket for seats in the lower bowl. pm or email jci@invisimax.com
  9. Still have two tickets in Section 110, Row J for the Saturday, Dec. 16 game against Michigan Tech for sale. $35 for the pair pm or email jci@invisimax.com

    Manke

I agree. It is too bad that when Bowenkamp got injured in 2004, that it was not Manke who stepped in to solidify himself as the starter going into the 2005 season. I am not a coach, I am sure that there is good reason that Lennon went with Belmore when he did (perhaps he was "farther along" as a sophomore), and as you said he was a very capable QB who had a nice career. But watching Manke play in 2006, it makes one wonder how good he and this team could have been given another year or two of experience as a starter. And remember, I was not always a supporter of Manke, but he really opened my eyes at the end of 2005 and all year this year. Don't forget about John Bowenkamp. IMHO I think he was the best "pure-passer" that UND has had since Todd Kovash. Had he not missed nearly all of the 2004 season with injury, he probably would have finished his career owning about every major statistical record in UND history. And he took the Sioux to the National Championship game. With the defense that the Sioux had in 2004, and a healthy Bowenkamp, they would have probably been right there again. Now, give the 2003 or 2004 defense to Manke, and we walk all over GVSU this year.
