  1. UND FOOTBALL: Sioux trio has defining debut
  2. The Jan. 19 vs. South Dakota and Feb. 7 vs. St. Cloud State Men's and Women's basketball games will be televised on FSSN this season. The Jan 5th game against Iowa State will be televised in the state of Iowa on their ABC affiliates. I'm still trying to find out if there is a chance that this game would be able to be pulled in by those of us that have KU dish to get the FSSN.
  3. I'm not saying that. There are lots of people who prefer to do other things than go to a football game, whether it is hunting, fishing, riding an ATV, boating, golfing, or a million other things, and that is fine. I didn't mean to call into question anyone being a "true" fan. I was just pointing out that there are far more days available in North Dakota to hunt almost any type of game, including deer, than there are opportunities to go to a UND football game in the Alerus.
  4. I had to run to Fargo this weekend. I filled gas at Stop n' Go. I put on 26 gallons and got 13 NDSU tickets. That really is constant crap!!!!
  5. You can shoot a deer on any of 15-16 consecutive days, for 10-12 hours a day. Actually if you really really want to kill a deer, one can do it from the end of August until the middle of December, but those types of hunting would require a little more effort than idling up and down the wrong side of county and township roads with a can of beer between one's legs. By contrast, one can only watch a UND football game in GF on 5 specific days for 3 1/2 hours.
  6. Don't want to leave out the ladies either! [url=http://fightingsioux.xosn.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=1176509]UND leads nation in DII women
  7. That would be a poor comparison. A better comparison would be between Humbolt St. and Arkansas-Monticello, or Valparaiso, or Concordia St. Paul. Those three schools were all invovled in a big matchup with a regional school in recent years as well. I'm surprised, BisonBacker, at the way in which you are attacking Humboldt St. and the Sioux for playing them. Of the three founders of the "Board for the Banned" you're usually the most level-headed. Or did you loan your password to JBB? You know as well as anybody the scheduling troubles that both UND and NDSU have had in recent years. Grow up and move on. I heard your favorite squad is supposed to be pretty good this year. Focus on that.

  9. I'd give that a big thumbs up! The atmosphere was great, for the first half anyways before fans started leaving due to the lopsided score. I would presume a Saturday night game may have even better attendance and atmosphere when most people don't have a full day of work the following day.
  10. I'm luke warm on the logo, but it may grow on me. I really like the new format of the site. And also like in the forums that Men's and Women's basketball have their own forums. Thanks, Jim!!
  11. Thanks for the info! That places alot of importance on winning the NCC this year, with no in-region OOC opponent on the schedule. With that crappy-ass earned access rule that allows an NSIC team a spot every year, it means we better take care of business against the top NCC teams like UNO and USD, and not lay any eggs against teams like SCSU and Auggie (like we almost did last year) or Humboldt. USD has the luxury of having Winona on their schedule. Playing and defeating either the top one or two NSIC teams has nearly as much or more benefit for an NCC team as does any other conference victory when playoff selection comes around. Man, I can't wait for DI. The regionallity of DII sucks.
  12. I'm going to conservatively say: North Dakota 31 Humboldt St. 17 I really haven't researched Humboldt at all, I'm just going by our common opponents from last year. Humboldt lost to CWU 20-0, and beat WWU 28-23. IIRC we beat CWU by 14 last year, and WWU by 6. They'll come ready, as this is likely their biggest game in several years, and a victory over the Sioux in GF would put their name on the map. Question: Is Humboldt St. in the Northwest region? I was wondering because UND generally places alot of emphasis on scheduling an in-region opponent, that is why those wins against Winona the last few years were so beneficial, even if the game was very lopsided.
  13. I hope that includes those of us that view the games on satellite rather than cable. There have been a couple instances in the past where the games were not on satellite, but available to cable subscribers in the GF area. I feel the same way.
  14. Yes, they should be a very quick and athletic squad. However I had hoped that they would have picked up another inside big man that was ready to play right away, to take Gutter's spot. It is looking like alot will be asked of Koenig to provide a significant inside presence, but I fear that his body may not be able to take it.
  15. Those are all excellent ideas. I've long been a proponent of night games. Especially when you have an indoor facility like the Alerus. Aside from providing the opportunity to allow those who work Saturdays to attend, like you said, the potential is their to create a "night club" type atmosphere like at the REA. Fans that have to travel somewhat of a distance to the games may consider it more of an option, too. The 1:00 p.m. kickoff pretty much blows the entire day for those of us that travel an hour and a half or more for the games. And a 6:00 or 7:00 kickoff would not affect tailgating, in fact I think it might actually help it. Again with the television, televising games is basically 3+ hours of advertising. I know the norm the last few years has been to televise two home games on cable, and that is great. But I think it would be better to pony up and put at least one game a year on WDAZ/WDAY. It would help exposure and get more of those outside of GF interested. I really am not a believer that televising games hurts attendance.
  16. I have two tickets for sale to each of the following games: FRIDAY Nov. 23 vs. UM-Duluth SATURDAY Dec. 29 vs. New Hampshire FRIDAY Mar. 7 vs. St. Cloud St. Section 109, Row A, Seats 12 & 13 Asking $27.50/ticket or $150 for all 6 tickets. pm or email: jci@invisimax.com
  17. I think the Fighting Sioux Club is starting to take over that area of the stadium, which is fine. I've sat right next to the band on the 15 yard line for the last 4 years. This year, they are moving the band into my section and I was moved to right next to the students section, and the band will be on the other side of me. And I was made to purchase a FSC membership this year, which I had planned on doing anyway.
  18. ESU football schedule dotted with open dates
  19. It does stabilze the Big Sky, but there was really only a very slim chance that they would have looked to add UND at any point anyways, if a western school moved to FBS. On the other hand, it does also stabilize the GWFC a little more. Many think UC Davis has FBS aspirations, although I don't know what time frame they were considering. The effect will be less substantial to the Summit (no football). If/when something does occur with the major conferences like the Big East, Big 10, etc., I would look for movement to trickle down to leagues like the Horizon and Summit.
