  1. Time for a timeout I think. All EWU so far in the second.
  2. Shooting 50% overall, 40% from beyond the arc, and forced 10 turnovers in the half. Nice and balanced. Looking good so far. Keep it up in the second half......
  3. GET IT BACK ON TOPIC, PEOPLE. THERE ARE MANY OTHER PLACES ON THE WEB WHERE RACE RELATIONS AND SOCIOLOGICAL DEBATES CAN TAKE PLACE.
  4. Pryor is kind of fun to listen to. On the radio now, talking about why the UND job is a good one. Says one reason is there is not much other DI competition in the area "except for the one a little ways south of here, but they're not even worth mentioning by name". Says the facilities blew him away and called the Sioux Center a BCS facility. Says the Big Sky is an excellent volleyball league. Plans on having the team in the NCAA tourney on a regular basis. Comes off as confident and well spoken.
  5. And we thought the football coach hiring took a long time. We are on day 53 with no volleyball coach............................
  6. North Dakota wins at NAU. Now 7-2 in conference play......
  7. Brewster said at the media day this fall that the gopheds are playing here next season......
  8. Salmonson looks pretty good at times when he gets the ball near the rim.
  9. Hoffner is a finalist for the Minot State job......
  10. Jody Norstedt tweeted that both Brian Jones and Saul Phillips were at the Williston St.-NDSCS game tonight. Who would they be looking at?
  11. Not quite sure what the last 5 pages or so have to do with Philip Nelson. The door is closing quickly on this thread.
  12. That's right. I was confussed.............
  13. Glad they pulled off the win. Hope they keep it going this week.
  14. Up to this point, I'd consider this entire season a choke job. We should never have been completely run out of the gym by Cal Poly on a neutral floor. Should not have lost to SDSU at the Sioux Center. UNC is very good, but they totally mailed in against them. We barely eeked out the win at home against a hapless Southern Utah team that still doesn't have a DI win on the season. The way this team is playing, I'm thinking maybe we squeak out a few more wins against Sac St., PSU, and SUU again. But they'll need to improve a lot just to accomplish that.
  15. The dance? At this point, it is looking like it is no guarantee that this team will even make the Big Sky tournament. To me, this team has been far more disappointing than was the football team this year. I didn't have great expectations for the football team realistically. I felt coming into the year that UND had a shot at hosting the Big Sky tournament at the Sioux Center. At this point, I'm not sure that North Dakota would be favored in any of the games they have left.
  16. Paul Rudolph: Played college ball at Minot St. Coached in Minnesota, Iowa, and North Dakota. Eric Schmidt: Played college ball at North Dakota. Coached at North Dakota and Southern Illinois. Shawn Kostich: No collegiate playing experience. Coached at Minnesota. Jordan Gigli: Played college ball at Trine (Indiana). Coached at Sac St., Minnesota, Western Illinois, and Wittinberg (Ohio). Marty Rodgers: Played college ball at Southern Illinois. Coached at Southern Illinois and Minot St. Luke Knauf: Played college ball at Wisconsin. Coached at Wisconsin La-Crosse, Luther College (Iowa), and Western New Mexico. Joel Schwenzfeier: Played college ball at North Dakota. Coached at North Dakota. Stating the obvious here, but this staff has a lot of Midwest flavor to it. No surprise, as that is exactly what Bubba said he wanted from the day he was introduced. All three coordinators are VERY local to the University of North Dakota. When you look at the staff, its pretty easy to see where the recruiting focus is going to be. I assume Gigli and Knauf are going to be the guys that recruit the Big Sky states. A quick glance at Minot's roster reveals a lot of Montana and Florida players. I wonder if Rudolph has connections to those states. For as much as North Dakota has traditionally relied on Minnesota and Wisconsin players, I've always wondered if both South Dakota and Montana have been under-recruited by UND. Both states are obviously far less populous than MN and WI, but the traditional success of both UM and MSU, and even Carroll College, would indicate there are quality players to be had there. I've always felt once you get a little ways away from Sioux Falls, UND should have just as good a chance to get South Dakota kids as do USD and SDSU.
  17. Lots of talk going on in a couple other threads about the perceived change that will take place in offensive philosophy under Coach Schweigert, so I figured it warranted its own thread. Was just perusing the final stats for the Big Sky Conference. We were dead last in the league in rushing: 81 yds/game, 2.8 yds/carry. That is atrocious. That needs to change. I will say this about Coach Mussman, he did a good job of adapting to the talent on the roster. In 2011, he put together a solid season with terrible QB play by adopting the 3 yards and a cloud of dust philosophy. A year later in 2012, we had decent results, at least offensively, throwing it all over the field with two exceptional QBs in Braden Hanson and Marcus Hendrickson. Problem is, it seems like a coach should have a vision of what he wants for his offense, and entire team, to be. Never really got that feeling with Mussman. Seems like Bubba has been fairly vocal in his short time at the helm that he expects to have a physical, ball control offense, and I assume that is what he will recruit to. Seem like Mussman had the theory to go after the best players possible and hope for the best, regardless of how they would fit into any certain system. Personally, I like balanced offenses. Have a fullback out there 75% of the time. For God's sake, please utilize the Tight End as a receiver. I don't think there is anything more demoralizing to a defense than multiple 10 yard runs. If given the choice. I would take a 10 play scoring drive vs. an 80 yard TD pass everyday and twice on Saturday..................
  18. I don't follow high school ball or recruiting all that closely. Basically I never know much about a player until he signs on with North Dakota, so I can't really comment on what to expect from Shanks. But I will say that a 7 footer that schools like Utah St., Colorado St., and Minnesota were interested in should be a quality addition. I have no idea whether he is the type of player that you'd build a team around, but even if he can contribute in the same fashion that a guy like Mitch Wilmer did, he'll be a solid asset to the program. Who here wouldn't love to have Mitch Wilmer on this years team simply for his work ethic and defensive presence?
  19. I hope Freund gets WR job. He is a former QB and has coached running backs and QBs. Seems it like it would be no more of a stretch than Schwenzfier coaching LBs. Regarding offensive philosophy, I agree that spreading it out and chuckingthepigskin is fun to watch, but to me the most exciting offense to watch is one made up of 7 minute drives with the majority of first downs coming on running plays. To me there is nothing more frustrating to a defense than a 10 yard run. I am a huge NE Patriots fan. They won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years by having an intelligent and efficient QB hand it off all day to a bruising RB that followed a methodical offensive line. When they started having Brady chuck it around 50 times a game, they haven't had the same results the last 7 or 8 years.
  20. Announced today that Dale Lennon is going to pull double duty as DC for the Salukis........
