Will there be a game-used jersey and equipment auction this year? Last years auction seemed to be very successful. I am hoping they will have another auction this spring/summer. Any info would be great.

Great list! It's amazing how many big time players we have had over the years. So many NHL stars, Stanley Cup Champions, All-Americans, NCAA Champions, and Olympians. Hard to believe we only have one Hobey Baker Award winner out of all these greats (Many other great players with overlapping numbers also).

I just e-mailed PTI so maybe they can fill in a few more details tomorrow.

During the down time before the next series, I thought it would be interesting to think about who was the best or most influential person to wear numbers 1-35 at UND. (If he stays 4 years at this pace he will climb many all-time UND marks, 20 goals already this year) 17- Jeff Panzer (Best GF player at UND, Multiple hobey baker finalist, NCAA title, 3rd games played, 3rd points, 3rd Assists) 18- 19- John Noah (Olympic Gold medalist, All-american) 20- Bob Joyce (Hrkac circus line, Most goals in season, 3rd in goals, NCAA title) 21- Tony Hrkac (Only UND Hobey Baker Winner, Hrkac Circus line, 116 points in 1 season, 70 Assists '87 season, 8 shg '87, NCAA title, best ever at UND in college?) 22- 23- Ralph Engelstead (No one has done more to support program, 2 arenas, number is retired) 24- 25- Phil Sykes (98 career goals, NCAA title) 26- 27- 28- 29- Ed Belfour (NCAA title, 29-4-0, NHL All-star, Olympic Gold, Stanley Cup Champion, Most well known alumni) 30- Darren Jensen (NCAA title, 46 wins) 31- Jeff Lembke (Only goalie with wins wearing this number...pretty weak criteria) 32- 33- Nate Ziegelman (Only goalie to wear this number?... pretty weak criteria) 34- 35- Jon Casey (2nd wins, .711 win %, .910 save %, NHL) What number did Dave Christian, James Patrick, Ben Cherski, Mark Taylor, Doug Smail, Nick Naumenko, Ian Kidd, and Dixon Ward wear? As you can see, I have a lot of number left. Please give me your top players at specific numbers with a reason you feel they are the best for that number. I would like to eventually compile a complete list. Thank you!

I e-mailed Siouxshop after the Dartmouth tournament and was told they would be available to the public only if UND decides to use them next season as a regular or alternate jersey. At 2-0 in them, there is a reasonable chance we will see them in upcoming important games.

Sioux gave gophers 12... not sure how many we had.

I like these jerseys but would like to see them only used in place of our current black jersey as the alternate jersey. I will be buying one as soon as they are available. Would look good in green as well.

The new jerseys are growing on me. We should wear them again Saturday as they make us look faster and far better then UM-TC.

Jeff Panzer is playing in Europe but I'm not sure which country or team.

If we play tight defense like this, kill penalties, and score short handed then we should wear these jerseys the rest of the year!

Several of us have already e-mailed the AD expressing interest in UND selling game-used football jerseys just like they do with hockey jerseys. I know this is on the wrong page but few people look at the football forum now that the season is over. Scheels and Siouxshop started carrying better replicas today. The jerseys don't have numbers but are very similar in trim, color, logos on sleeves, and Sioux logo by the neck. Still game-used would be far superior. The jerseys were cheaper at Scheels.

Will UND be selling game-used football jerseys? It seems that a lot of money could be raised by selling the jerseys just like they do with the hockey jerseys. Grand Forks and UND by a lot of hockey jerseys and I am suprised that the Siouxshop sells hockey and basketball jerseys but no football jerseys. I am really tired of the Colloseum jerseys that look nothing like the real football jerseys.

The whole Sioux name issue is getting old. I personally am in favor of the name. I feel it is used respectively and is in itself a logo designed with thought and good representation of the university and Sioux virtues. On the other hand, I feel it is begining to discredit the university. There are few days that something new is not written about changing the name and the people often encouraging these articles are graduates or faculty still closely associated with the university. It often makes me wonder how many opportunities the Sioux name has afforded them in relation to their university lives. I believe that few universities support specific groups as much as UND has supported American Indian education on campus. There are specific professional programs that provide additional support, there are large numbers of scholarships, there are specific degrees and of course a beautiful building. I believe that many of these programs are at least partially derived from UND's use of the Sioux name along with the American Indian population in the state. I hope that those opposed to the name have also considered that some of the positive opportunities may never have been so widely supported if not for the awareness the Sioux name created on campus. If the name begins to take away from the university by dragging it through the mud one one-sided article at a time it may be time to separate the name from the university. I love the Sioux name but I love the university and it's athletics more. If it is dropped, I for one do not want to hear about all of the backhanded hostility from the same people currently claiming how hostile the campus is currently.

Second link is a petition that is, theoretically, done in support. It is clear by reading the signatures and comments that Dartmouth is out of touch with any reasonable understanding of those in favor of the Sioux name and those opposed to the name. Hopefully, we are well represented and can cheer the Sioux on in a way that expresses our respect for the name and what it stands for... as we roll to a 7-1 victory.

I am a lifelong Sioux athletics (especially hockey) collector. I am interested in knowing what others collect of the University and of Sioux athletics. My favorite pieces of my collection are a personalized team signed 85-86 Sioux hockey stick and a signed green Tony Hrkac '87 replica jersey that he inscribed "Hobey Baker 87". Just thought this would be interesting as I have not really seen many Sioux collections outside of my family

I have an autographed jersey collection that I would like to display with pictures of the players in the same jersey that I have signed. The two Sioux jerseys I have signed are a 1987 green Blackhawk style Tony Hrkac jersey and a white Zach Parise jersey.
