  1. USA lost to Finland 5-1 this morning (Pietila from Tech with the lone goal). Canada currently losing to Sweden, halfway through the 2nd.
  2. He's throwing the puck on net...he just hears a resounding 'ping!' from the post every stinking time.
  3. Pretty sure everyone was on the live chat...there were over 2,000 people on there for yesterday's game.
  4. #20 is just about the only one I can figure out without doing any research!
  5. Wow. Clearly since retiring, you have waaaaay too much time on your hands.
  6. Very classy interview, especially considering the nature of the Friday night loss.
  7. As Zucker was falling to the ice (after the collision with Kristo), his left arm got twisted behind his back in a very unnatural fashion, which he then landed on. He was clutching his arm as he went to the bench...my best guess would be wrist or elbow. But at the angle it went, with the force he would have landed with, I would not be the least bit surprised if he broke a bone. The FSN director's cut spent about 10 minutes with one of the replay feeds trying to figure out what had happened to Zucker, so I watched this hit/fall about 20-30 times. As soon as I could figure out where he got hurt (I also originally suspected it was his own player falling on him), I didn't expect to see him back for the remainder of the game.
  8. It's prob still crazy expensive, being so close to the travel date already, but I've found that it's often cheaper to fly from the Springs to Fargo rather than Denver to Fargo, if you don't mind the drive down here.
  9. I'm actually in Salzburg, so I went to the Red Bulls' game tonight to watch Ryan play. He isn't on the roster. When I asked a fan about it, he said that Ryan had gone back to the states with a camp invite, but the fan didn't know where. Of a side note, I saw a Red Bulls' Parise jersey (he played here 1 year, if I remember correctly), and Robbie Earl is now playing for Salzburg.
  10. Oh dear, I forgot about that bar. If I recall correctly, part of the bar was lower - specifically so girls could dance there. Since we weren't near that lowered section, there really wasn't any reason for those girls to be dancing right above us. I merely informed them that the designated skank area was at the other end of the bar. How was I suppose to know they'd be offended by that statement? The best part about St Louis was that, not only did the parental units buy the tickets and pay for the hotel, but they also gave me money for gas and money for going to the bar (something that had never happened before and has not happened since). At the end of it all, I think I ended up getting paid about $50 to attend the frozen four. Given the Sioux's track record at the Frozen Four while I am in attendance (2 serious spankings at the hand of BC), I am not attending this year's frozen four, in the hopes that they might actually win it. That way, if they lose, I can go to future frozen fours knowing that I am not the jinx. And if they win, my selfless sacrifice for the team can receive all the credit.
  11. I'm glad cichy cracked the lineup. I hope he can earn a chance to stay.
  12. I hope people will go to the women's game since the men don't play tonight. It's their first home playoff series. It'd be cool to get over 3201 fans, since I think I heard they were about 20 people short the other weekend against Minnesota.
  13. Simpson was a healthy scratch. Hak said Gleason deserved the go because of how he played Sat night at CC. I believe Simpson gets the spot tonight, however. In terms of Cichy playing for Hextall (or anyone for that matter), I'm pretty sure that Cichy is hurt. If I recall correctly, Sat night in CC, both Cichy and Nelson were on the ice during warmups but a game-time decision was made as to who was more able to play that night given injuries. Cichy is the one who sat. I think there are underlying injury issues for why he's not cracking the line-up very often.
  14. Just a random side note (rant) from sat's game: When Howe was on the ice injured, some sioux fans right by us were cheering and clapping that he was down. I was so embarrassed by them. It doesn't matter whether the person on the ice is wearing a jersey from UND, CC, UMN, DU, etc. Its just some 19-20 year old kid out there. Don't cheer for the fact that he's injured. Show some class.
  15. Sioux 9 cc 2 We saw why icing rules need to return to previous years. Gregs beat 2 cc players to the top of the circle/puck and they still called it icing. Clearly a tutorial on the new hybrid icing is in order.

There's definitely not a lot of options by world arena. We went downtown last year and ran into quite a few sioux fans around that general area. There are a lot of great bars and breweries, and you can easily walk from one to another. Just take the Bijou exit on I25

Are you guys staying at the Double Tree too?
  18. For the record, I didn't intend for it to sound like frattin's chances were better than other players who didn't go through similar issues. What I meant was, that, by having his story told and giving the public a few more details about the entire process, I think he improves his chances compared to if it were still more hush-hush. There are other players (who didn't have the same journey) with tremendous character and determination. My only thought was that hopefully, the article (and more clarity on the situation itself) helps reduce the chance that his previous problems are held against him.
  19. This article definitely has to at least help his hobey reputation a little bit. While I think many of us assumed that he'd turned his life around to get back on the team, I'm guessing not everyone was so willing to believe that. Until this article, some people probably thought that just because he hasn't gotten into trouble again since being back doesn't mean he actually made lifestyle changes. But this pretty much clears up any debate on the issue. I love Hak's quote about how wrong everyone is who thinks Frattin got back on the team because of scoring goals.
  20. The thing that blows me away about Frattin is that, not only does he have 15 goals already, but he has 15 goals while playing the toughest schedule in college hockey. I can't imagine his total if we played some cupcake teams in there.
  21. Honestly, I don't know what Blais would have been so upset about (with the exception of hextall throwing elbows at guys on the bench, occasionally). Not everything was called, but they were fairly consistent with what constituted a penalty in regards to both teams.
  22. gregoire (fri), frattin (sat)
  23. Went to Avs/Blues game last night and watched Oshie and Porter play. Porter was pretty unnoticeable for the most part (which can be both good and bad). He got railed early in the 2nd and was down on the ice for quite awhile, but was back by the end of the 2nd. Oshie's goal was a sniper shot on the PP. He was one of the most effective players on the ice - causing quite a few turnovers and drawing several penalties. Hopefully this is his year.
  24. It's a pretty long drive, but I'm pretty sure I'll head to the series against CC. Siouxman, if I happen to find myself in omaha the weekend of that series, can I crash on your hotel room floor?
  25. Both Parise and Zajac with 1G,1A last night
