  1. Ok, I'm pretty sure that the statistics about BC are in the article linked in this post of Brad's: http://undhockey.areavoices.com/?p=87874 I'm not a Herald subscriber, so I can't see that actual article anymore. But, if anyone wants to sign in and post some of those BC stats, that'd be awesome.
  2. I think Brad did some research about this for an article earlier this season. If I recall, BC has only been sent out west twice in the past decade or something like that, and each time they did have to travel, they got spanked. Every time they've made it to the Frozen Four, they've gone through Worcester. I'll look bad at his archives to see if I can find the specific article, as I'm probably botching those statistics.
  3. And just as quickly, they already released him.
  4. Boo. None of his projections ever have the Sioux headed to either Manchvegas or Providence, which would make it so much easier for me to attend.
  5. Went to the series in Omaha last year, and both games had 10,000+. It helps that Sioux fans travel well.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if the league reviews the game and hands Mersch a one-game suspension for jumping off the bench to fight. It was clearly caught on camera. That being said, I guess I also wouldn't be that surprised if the league just totally ignored it, too.
  7. Women get a sweep of Mankato today, moving them up to 8th in Pairwise.
  8. They generated a ton of chances on Saturday but couldn't manage to capitalize. Not sure I would put that under the 'epic fail' category. And they've only been playing together for a handful of games.
  9. Haha not sure about top 10, but here's some to get you started: What separates a good football team from a great football team? Kansas Where in Lincoln do you go in a tornado warning? Memorial Stadium...they never get a touchdown there How do you get a Husker player out of your backyard? Put up goal posts What's the difference between the Cornhuskers and a dollar bill? You can still get 4 quarters out of the dollar. What do Cornhuskers and possums have in common? Both play dead at home and get killed on the road. A few generic Nebraska ones: What's the best thing to come out of Nebraska? I-80 Where's the best place in Nebraska? The exact middle...that way anyway you go, you're leaving Can't think of any more off the top of my head, but I can let you know if I think of more.
  10. Expect wind. Lots and lots of wind. On another note, while the game is in Omaha and not Lincoln, the Husker obsession is statewide. During the 3 years I lived in Nebraska, I learned that they love nothing more than hearing people mock the Huskers. So, if anyone needs a few jokes for their arsenal, just let me know. My personal favorite: What's the difference between Cornhuskers and Cornflakes? Cornflakes belong in a bowl. Thank you, thank you...I'll be here all night.
  11. True. But the brewery did put up big "Welcome hockey fans" sign during the St. Louis Frozen Four. So, they're pretty smart over there...even if the beer is bad. *Figured I'd throw one more topic onto the pile*

    UND vs. UW

I was more referencing the fact that, prior to those three weekends of splits, that team had only lost 1 of their previous 14 games (dating back to mid-Nov). So it's not like they were in the skids prior to their 'second-half run' like most of the other teams were. That's why I said it was relative.
  13. Comparisons of the strategies...not comparisons of the execution.
  14. The goal in the first period was a PPG, which changes up coverages quite a bit. But, in general, I'd be interested to see the comparisons of the two defensive strategies.

    UND vs. UW

Well, I did a little research because I kept thinking that one of the second half surges was spurred on by a horrible weekend against SCSU near the end of January. And that got me thinking...for the most part, we consider 'second-half' to include anything after Christmas, but that doesn't necessarily correlate exactly with when the team has managed to pull it together. 05-06: The win streak started after a series against SCSU, played the last weekend of Jan 06-07: The win streak started after a series against CC, played the first weekend of Jan 07-08: The win streak started after a series against SCSU, played the first weekend of Jan 08-09: Except for the giant egg laid at the GLI, this team didn't lose a whole lot after November 09-10: The win streak started after a series against SCSU, played in early Feb 10-11: Again, a team that barely lost, so 'second-half surge' is highly relative 11-12: The win streak started as far back as the end of Nov, which is especially impressive given the short line-up My point is, that a lot of the amazing win streaks have started around now, or even after another week or two. So just because they haven't pulled it together for a stretch run yet doesn't mean that they won't/can't. Also interesting of note, is how often SCSU has been a turning point.
  16. From his original story at the beginning of the year, we knew: 1) there was a huge party 2) a lot of the underage freshman were wasted 3) the cops were involved It's not his fault if people can't add this up to realize that some of the upper classman would probably get hit with charges for supplying alcohol to minors.
  17. Did a little research since I'm soooo bored at work. Michigan hasn't won a national championship since '98. Red has gotten his team to the Frozen Four 5 times since then, but he must be a horrible coach, cause he can't seem to walk away from them with the national title in hand. Red was the head coach at Michigan for 12 years before earning his first national championship. By that comparison, Hak still has until 2016.
  18. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tim Whitehead get the axe at the end of this season. IIRC, last year was kind of considered a 'make or break it' year for his position, and Maine ended up pulling out a great season. But, I'm not sure that will buy him many (or any) extra years when his team is sitting in last in Hockey East. Going into this series against BC, they had one conference win. One.
  19. The Maine sweep of BC is all the more impressive to anyone who has seen Maine play live this year. Most games, they look like a high school team out there. I'm curious to know if Maine suddenly played that amazing or if BC really played that poorly. Most likely, it was a weird combination of both.
  20. Those lines actually aren't quite as shook-up as I figured they'd be. The order definitely is, but not so much the actual combos.
  21. In the 3rd period last night, was that 2nd line Parks-Rowney-Grimaldi or Caggiula-Rowney-Grimaldi?
  22. I'd actually put St. Clair up on that 3rd line with Caggiula (not sure who to bring back to 4 between Mitch and Gaarder). He had a lot of jump last Sat night against UM and, in relative terms, was one of the more 'energetic' Sioux players last night.
  23. That was, without a doubt, the best power play movement I've seen all season.
  24. That specific post may have been sarcasm, but goodness knows so many similar ones on this forum aren't.
  25. I'm completely ok with Mitch being taken off the top line (though I'd prefer he be replaced by his brother rather than Grimaldi). But I can't agree with your opinion of Parks. His stats aren't great, but he's created a lot of opportunities in the offensive zone since returning to the line-up.
