Could someone who wants programs cut should the name change explain the logic of doing that? As a rule we, the people who want to keep the name, believe that a majority of Native Americans either support or don't care about the name and it's a small minority that are actually offended by the name. Let's just for sake of argument that this is a fact, why should this majority of Native Americans be punished because ultimately UND was forced to change the name? That doesn't make sense to me and only serves as revenge. How does revenge solve anything in this situation? Jeez, I think I just said something remarkably similair to tony. This is a dark day in my life.

The poll sample would have been skewed had the done that. It was based on North Dakota demographics. If they would've asked more Native Americans, it would've messed up those demographics.. They would have had to ask more people overall and then you still have the same relative problem. As it is, it was a scientifically valid poll. People don't understand that you don't need to ask 6 zillion people for a poll to be very accurate. 605 is enough.

No one is buying their P.O.S. service, so instead of fixing the problem and making it a non-P.O.S. service they cut back on games being shown.

When it was allowed, no one was making you go to those restaurants that allowed smoking. You chose to go to restaurants. You obviously liked the food/atmosphere/whatever more then you disliked the smoke. If you truely want smoking to be eliminated from restaurants, you don't need a law for it. All you need is to do is not frequent those restaurants along with every other person who doesn't want smoking in those restaurants. Those restaurants will quickly adapt to their loss in business.

But just because you want to be able to go to a restaurant and not have people smoking, shouldn't mean that the owner of the restaurant be forced by law to not allow smoking. A majority of people don't want smoking in restaurants. If this same majority of people would act on this belief and refuse to go to restaurants that allow it, the restaurants will be forced to not allow smoking or go out of business. But people are lazy and want laws for everything they don't like without themselves having to do anything.

That's their problem then. If they did poor research and accidentally used First Amendment concepts to support their argument, they have to deal with it. Since the door was opened to first amendment concepts, UND surely can use it.

Assuming UND loses the appeal and doesn't take the NCAA to court while keeping the name, does anyone honestly believe that the NCAA won't make another stricter ruling in say five years? By taking them to court, UND prevents this from happening.

1. How is UND supposed to prevent other schools fans from saying or making shirts that say this? That is up to the other schools and even they can't prevent the shirts or signs from being made, only prevent them from being allowed in arenas. 2. How stupid does Donna Brown think people are? Who bases their beliefs of other people on a shirt or sign? Despite the fact that GK acts like a racist jerk on this board, I don't think every single person who wants the name changed is like this. In fact, I think most aren't.

UNC-Pembrooke is allowed to have Braves on their uniform, but Alcorn State, Chowan College and Bradley are not. How is the ruling being applied to all uniforms? It clearly isn't when one school is allowed to display something while another school is not.

But this regulation wouldn't be universal, it would only apply to certain uniforms.

Who voted against the name? Standing Rock, Sisseton and Three Nations?
