  1. I think a restaurant that would work well in Grand Forks is Ruby Tuesday. They have KICK-ASS fries and burgers there. They have something like 30+ varieties of burgers there. The chili cheese fries with ranch and sour cream are a party to your tongue and a burden to your arteries. I would think that if Fargo has two Ruby Tuesday's, then GF should probably have one too. I also heard about this place called Italian Moon (on Washington, I think??) I don't know how good the food is, but a friend of mine told me it was really good. Anyway, I drove past it last year the last time I was in GF, and I was thinking maybe they should build one out by 32nd. Speaking of 32nd, why hasn't that place been completely developed yet?? I drove down there and I would see a lineup to the south side of the street of big-box store, barren field, then a strip mall, then a barren field, something else, then a barren field, etc. I'm surprised there hasn't been more development down there. Quite a few empty spaces to build some stuff on.
  2. I also think Grand Forks could use either a TGI Friday's or a Chili's, and build it in an outparcel by Columbia mall. West Acres has both a TGI Friday's and Chili's that were built as outparcels several years ago, if I recall. Another thing I'm thinking of is an Office Depot. They recently reopened the one in Fargo (business is doing well now as opposed to 2001 when it closed), and the atmosphere at those places looks a lot less tacky and warehouse-y than OffficeMax. I always thought OfficeMax was the Wal-Mart of office supply stores. I'm on a caffeine buzz at 7:30 am, so I'm thinking of a lot of stuff.
  3. Even though I'm about as anti-Sioux as they come, I also have a HUGE general interest in city planning and development, and that's one of the things I'm working to specialize in through college. Therefore, I cannot resist the opportunity to talk about city development in any case, on this thread, much like the thread about Fargo I started on Bisonville. That's why I'm very interested in this thread and replying to it. You'll hear no smack from me on this thread. Even though I have had my gripes with Grand Forks in the past, I for one would like to see the town grow again, and become something of a unique college town like Ames or Madison. There's no resaon for that not to happen. Putting that aside, there are quite a few things I would like to see in GF, but I guess the first thing off the top of my head is a new movie theatre. That Carmike kind of looks like a dump, and it would be nice to see a new 10-12 screen stadium theatre attached to that new CanadInns hotel. I don't know if they decided to add the theatre to the hotel or not, so correct me if I'm wrong.
  4. And SiouxMeNow is up late as well. And drunk. Like he always is.
  5. You're right, you got me on that one. My fault.
  6. Then who the heck is Virg Foss?? He only has written some of the most cheap-shotted, below-the-belt insults towards NDSU that I have ever read.
  7. How much do you think the GF Herald talks about Bison scores, news, etc.?? Then why do you expect the Forum to be some sort of in-depth UND publication?? The Bison are big news in Fargo. Hence the Forum covers them and gives little attention to the Sioux. The Sioux are big news in GF. Hence, the Herald covers them and gives little attention to the Bison. Each paper covers what it feels is good news for its area. I don't go on complaining about the little news coverage the GF Herald gives to the Bison. I don't care about the GF Herald. The Weekly Reader for children is a more intellectual paper than the Herald. I wouldn't line my cat's litter box with the Herald. So I don't care. Why should you care??

    UND Rugby

Club hockey started up again two years ago, I think(??) They have a full schedule this year and play at the Carlson Coliseum. They're working on trying to get some people to the games right now, so I think it'll be a while before they reach their 80's prominence once again.

    UND Rugby

Um... Our rugby is a CLUB team, they're not Division I. Our move to DI two years ago had nothing to do with our club teams (Men's Hockey, Women's Hockey, Rugby, Lacrosse, etc.)
  10. ecbrevik, I don't care if you knock down the idea of UND moving to Division I. I agree with you on most of your points. However, please don't knock NDSU and our move to Division I. Our move so far has proven to be successful, with the exception of finding a conference. We've raised more money than ever, and are playing much better teams than we would have if we stayed in Division II. So please don't put down our DI move without actually doing a little research first.
  11. Well, the soil in New Orleans is a lot worse structurally than the soil up here, and they have 600-foot tall buildings down there. Besides, if the economics of the situation demands it, then the developers might not care if a building they want to construct is 300 feet tall or whatever.
  12. Unfortunately, nothing in the state can be taller than the state capitol, which is 242 feet tall. The tallest in Fargo is the Radisson Hotel, which is 207 feet tall. I know there have been some attempts to get rid of that law in order to encourage more downtown Fargo development.
  13. Um, no. It wasn't sarcasm. YOU MY FRIEND, need to chill.
  14. Actually, Fargo (city only) has about 102,000 people according to the latest city estimate. The 2000 Census pop. was 90,599.
  15. I frequent a website that features information on tall buildings/skyscrapers all over the world, called SkyScraperPage.com. And I was planning to enter some info on that site about that new CanadInns hotel tower that you're building up there. But all I know is that it's 12 stories (which is the minimal definnition of a "skyscraper" according to that site). Does anyone know for example, how many feet tall it will be (maybe more than 125?) and the architectural firm designing it?? If anyone has any info, feel free to pass it along.
  16. You have got to be kidding me. Fargo and Grand Forks are almost like night and day. One is almost three times as big as the other. Would you say that Sioux Falls and Mankato are very similar???
  17. Woah, hold on there, pardner. Entzion came from UND. Don't try to lump him in with NDSU.
  18. You know you're losing the argument when you start having to call out your little friends for help. I'm leaving now. CYA.
  19. What's wrong with trying to make Fargo a big city?? Our current mayor wants to achieve that. At least our city is progressive thinking and wants to become big-time. And Fargo and Grand Forks are NOT in the same boat. Ask a taxi driver from New York if they've ever heard of Fargo, and they'll say yes (it doesn't matter what they think of Fargo, they'll still say they've heard of it). Ask them if they ever heard of Grand Forks, and they'll ask you what the hell a "Grand Forks" is.
  20. Yeah, people from the "HUGE" city of Grand Forks are in a position to denegrate the "small" town of Fargo. Get over yourself, SiouxMeNow. You're the worst of them all.
  21. No, because Thompson, Emerado, etc. Aren't physically connected to Grand Forks like West Fargo, Dilworth, et al. are connected to Fargo-Moorhead. Hell, I'll even give you the Air Force base.
