Dartmouth's first conference championship ever. Crazy how much Cashman has been able to do in the past few years at a program that was in middling mediocrity for years.

I wonder how desirable a job at Yale would be. It's similar to Harvard in that it's an elite school in a hockey hotbed and at least has a championship and some proven success (although not recently)

A Mankato transfer, Ashton, is on the Cornell team this year and he's been a great pickup, although he had a rough game tonight

Still have to see if Wisco gets bounced. Need OSU and Princeton to win for that to happen

Chippy game that's also a penalty parade. Dartmouth hasn't been to the ECAC final in several years, so a lot to play for even though they've already clinched their first NCAA appearance in approximately four decades.

That would be a really well attended Albany regional. Also, if I'm Michigan I wouldn't want any part of a team like Clarkson that will also happen to have heavy fan support

Denver also played some really tight games in those championship years that easily could've gone the other way. Single-elimination tournaments open the door for a well-coached team or a hot goalie to steal wins.

Cornell eliminates Harvard in game 3, so that lowers the remaining number of ECAC teams out of the top 16 to two (Clarkson and Princeton). AHA final looking like it'll be Sacred Heart vs. Bentley for the autobid there.

And Providence loses in OT, so there very well could be multiple bid stealers based on what happens in Ithaca tomorrow

Clarkson earned this year's Pecknold trophy a bit earlier than it's usually awarded. Typically we don't see it until Lake Placid but this year was a different story

Q has had some stinkers this year and Harvard actually played a rare, solid game. Tonight will be interesting as the conference has been competitive this year. A 4th team getting to the NCAA's wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility

Where did you get that host info from? The NCAA's own website states Union as the host, rather than the conference. As for the rest, I know there has been a lot of back and forth about regional attendance and I'm certainly not privy to all the arguments, but you'd be hard pressed to get 15,000 at any eastern regional. Many eastern schools don't even have student bodies that touch that number, and that's before you even get to alumni bases and other potential avenues of fan attendance along with on-campus attendance decline trends. Since Albany was mentioned, let's think about potential attendance there. The biggest pulls would be Cornell (large traveling contingent and heavy alumni base in NYC with good representation throughout upstate NY and New England) and Quinnipiac (proximity and alumni base concentrated in NYC and Connecticut) as far as teams that should be in the tournament. Beyond that, it's a crapshoot given the lack of HEA teams, and all other tournament teams being farther away, so good luck even coming close to that 15,000 number.

ECAC schools have certainly hosted. In fact, Union is the host in Albany this year and Brown has hosted at Providence in the past.

With tonight's results, the NCHC for sure won't have any bid stealers and I'd be surprised if the Big 10 has any. I'd say any team 12 or above is pretty safe as far as an at-large bid

There's a very real chance they miss the NCAA's and Greg Brown suddenly finds himself on the hot seat. HEA playoffs are single elimination games so if they lose after this weekend (let alone their remaining regular season game tomorrow), they're probably done.

He already even has a brown tie. Was that orchestrated or AI? 🤔 Hopefully none of you ever have to experience a game at the morgue that is Meehan Auditorium. Providence is a great mid-sized city with fantastic restaurants and the area around Brown is very nice, but watching a hockey there in person is an underwhelming experience

22 compared to 19 for Cornell, so not very far off, and aside from 2017, most of those appearances in the past two decades have been one and done under Donato (with many unambiguous losses). That said, being in the Boston metro area and being Harvard offers a significant receuiting advantage which puts them in that 2nd tier. And only Ivy to win a title in the last 50 years? I find it hard to believe any UND fan has already forgotten about Yale's 2013 run, although I can't blame any for doing so 🫠
