2026-27 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

I’ll take Madison over dinkytown vibe any day. maybe kohl center can be big for their fanbase but it still feels more “college” for me. -

why do people even get so hyped to go to Mariucci. No offense but U of Minnesota is a commuter school vibe and pretty lame game day environment for a blue blood. Their students just stand and barely say anything. Give me Wisconsin, Maine, Michigan, Western Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State etc. before a game at Mariucci. Or if its the rivalry people wanna see, I'll wait for the games at the Ralph. -
And try selling UND to a kid that grew up in Toronto area when BU and Michigan are also recruiting him. That kid 100% is not coming to UND. Every program has draws and drawbacks.

how are these players and coaches connecting pre-portal opening? Are there middlemen/agents? Or straight-up tampering?

Nonconference Schedule Now and in Future under new leadership

bumping this. We need to discuss why Carle keeps getting all the big programs outside NCHC on his schedule and UND won't schedule them (except MN). -

Was this true this year too? And if so, why didn’t Michigan discipline him. that’s the thing with some of these programs like Michigan / BU etc. tons of elite players but it doesn’t translate to winning in NCAA tourney if they don’t get buy in. -

Not sure what happened to thread on no conference schedule (mods must have deleted) but we need to get some better programs on schedule. heard Michigan and Denver are playing eachother in future. Come on Dane, get Michigan, BC, BU in rotation. -

So bad fit for us system wise or Michigan coached him better ? -
What are the best frozen four sites for those of you that have attended a bunch? the ones I usually hear as favorites: - Boston - St. Paul - Tampa not sure how Vegas compares. Of course the frozen four has also been in Detroit, St Louis, Philly, Washington DC, Buffalo, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Denver, Milwaukee, Columbus, Albany, LA area to name a few.

Watched Michigan coach speak on Jayden Perron. - called him a student of game and hockey nerd - “learned how to be a hockey player this year” Suggests to me UND staff wasn’t getting as much out of him. Do we know why Perron didn’t work out here? -
If so I could see it as a regular. fun city easy to get to. There aren’t a lot of good warm weather destination spots where you can also walk around.
-
For people at Vegas frozen four, how is the city doing hosting? Is it as good or better than Tampa as a destination location?
-
here's a question...assuming UND doesn't win it, whats the order of Frozen Four teams you would prefer win the title from most tolerable to most annoyed if they win?
-
how is Brad on top of everything? 😂
-
This is about the biggest possible Frozen Four you could come up with. Destination city. 3 MASSIVE fanbases (UND, UW, UM). UND and UW for instance have been #1 and #2 in college hockey attendance for years with prideful sports cultures. Michigan probably has the most iconic college sports program across all sports (Maize and Blue, Big House, alums everywhere). The only bigger line-up would be exchanging Denver for Minnesota (large fanbase & MN) or BC/BU (to get the east coast & MA engaged). If you said, come up with the biggest possible F4...it's UND, Michigan, Minnesota, and dealers choice of Wisconsin/BU/BC.
-
No Gophers in the Frozen Four. So not all bluebloods. 🤣
-
Regarding Mercyhurst, were we supposed to play them at their rink next year (home and home because we played them at Ralph this year)? And if so, any ideas who we could replace them with?

UND has a great hockey fanbase day in and day out but don't discount big ten teams for big games. Yes they have a lot of casuals. But when Michigan / Wisconsin / Penn State / Michigan State / Indiana etc. make it in any sport to a big game, the alums come out of nowhere. It wouldn't shock me if Michigan has 10,000+ at the game on Thursday. These alumni bases are huge and everywhere in the USA. Half of them may not even know who is the roster but they will show up. As for game times, the decision was 100% made by ESPN. They looked at the 4 teams and said that Michigan will sell to a national audience most thus give them the late game. Its as simple as that.
-
these tickets are gonna be so expensive. Imagine the Michigan fanbase jumping on Stub Hub now to start buying. About as "big time" a frozen four of programs as you could get.
-
Goes to show you how much ESPN sees the "Michigan brand" as the golden child of this tournament in Vegas since UND isn't the late game. And maybe they are right to casuals who are scanning ESPN. Just feels like to core hockey fans, UND vs Wisconsin would have a bigger following.
-
Michigan coach looked like he survived a heart attack.
-
how long until Duluth runs a Michigan player?
-
most expensive frozen four ever for tickets?
-
Sioux Falls Regional - UND / Prov / QU / Merrimack

Pecknold might be the most arrogant and outspoken coach I've ever seen in college hockey. He's been saying stuff like this for years. Whether it's true or not, no need to air all that.
