  1. Michigan. Duluth is little brother to them. But agree with other poster, UND Wisconsin Michigan and Denver would be awesome for Frozen Four. Big programs which will be good for college hockey and ESPN.
  2. The MSU coach called the Big Ten "the most challenging conference" yesterday. That conference hasn't won a single NCAA title. Does he seriously believe that?
  3. Because Las Vegas is in the Pacific time zone so they probably aligning the time to ET equivalent. When you live in the west, super early start times are common.
  4. Michigan is the most arrogant program/fanbase and I think BC is ahead of MN too.
  5. There is no reason our non conference schedule has to be so lame. Get Bemidji, Mankato, and other randoms off the schedule. Or heck, maybe shorten up the conference schedule by a weekend or two (it does feel like the NCHC has a lot of conference games).
  6. maybe this game against Wisconsin in F4 can put them back into second or third place? We need to play them every year during reg season.
  7. "The collective city of Minneapolis." Honestly for a big ten school, the University of Minnesota fan support and pride is pretty weak. Nothing like a college town. I've seen pictures of basketball and football games where the stadium is taken over by Wisconsin / Michigan / Nebraska / Iowa fans. This happens in hockey too for certain teams. The feeling in Minneapolis will be nothing like a college town and the gopher fans overall are too lethargic.
  8. EVERYONE BUY YOUR TICKETS FOR FROZEN FOUR. its gonna be insane trying to get tickets this year.
  9. I do have a soft spot for Quinnipiac... they were the ones that came back against Minnesota in that championship game. I laughed at the gophers for a year after that.
  10. is it me or does Pecknold look like he wants to punch someone in the face?
  11. Dane needs to start rolling 4 lines to rest guys.
  12. Michigan and Wisconsin have a big alumni base in California 4 hours from Vegas. This is Vegas, a big party city. And both schools third biggest sport in a semifinal. They will show-up.
  13. literally the worst "fanbase" of any blueblood.
  14. Minnesota, Penn State, Michigan State, BC, BU, Maine could probably make a case too. But probably 1. UND 2. Minnesota 3. Michigan 4. Wisconsin 5. unsure I think UND has the largest fanbase day in and out but the big ten schools can really swell for big events even to UND's level. Don't underestimate a school like Michigan having thousands down there. These big ten alumni bases are massive and a ton of casuals will show up to Vegas.
  15. if UND, Wisconsin, and Michigan get to Vegas, these tickets will sell fast. All 3 are probably top 5 in fanbase size.
  16. the Q-Pac coach looks mad right now.
  17. what happened to the Wisconsin fanbase? almost no red at the game.
  18. Part of the coaches job is to tap into NIL, galvanize the boosters, "figure it out." So even if it wasn't Penn State itself, it speaks to the program's ability to adapt to current times (obviously helps to have a big alumni base). And Mckenna's a "status symbol" for the program which will help with recruiting / branding / etc. I think we are going to see the list of big time programs in hockey including Michigan State, Notre Dame, ASU, Penn State. They have money and facilities. The current college hockey blue blood programs will be fine but I just see programs Michigan Tech, Miami, CC, Mankato, St. Cloud, Omaha, maybe even UMD fading. All these young kids see the facilities plus the Big Ten and these big brand schools have more brand power than ever. In other words, putting NIL aside, why go to CC or Tech when you can go to Penn State. Seems to be a no brainer for a kid these days. of course if its Penn State vs a blue blood, it may be a harder decision.
  19. I don't know why people frame it this way. Yes they didn't win a title with him. But there is more to a program than just titles. Regular season success, selling tickets, program prestige, putting guys in NHL. Penn State is probably trying to make clear they are a serious hockey program despite the lack of history. I doubt Penn State or Mckenna really cares they didn't win a title. Penn State gets the relevance and prestige from landing a top pick. He will forever be a "former Penn State player" who is in the NHL to Penn State. Mckenna got the money and probably won't care because he got to be at a big school, have fun, and then make the NHL.
  20. Wisconsin can still land blue chip players and has recently. They still have staying power. A nice arena. The floor at bluebloods is much higher than most other programs. But I don't disagree they care less than other bluebloods. As for Michigan, nobody in here denies they are a great program. Lots of tradition, what looks like a historic arena, a commitment to winning, passionate alums/fans.
  21. Realistically I see all these bluebloods being able to compete in NIL at some fashion. I mentioned in my most some others that could emerge...Michigan State, Penn State, Notre Dame, heck maybe ASU But who else is going to emerge with NIL? most of the non blue bloods are small schools.
  22. Does anyone have the history on why Wisconsin is the least successful blue blood YET the program UND has struggled against the most (ie record)? I know Wisconsin plays a very defensive style and maybe UND never matched up well against them.
  23. Do we agree this is the list? By bluebloods, consistent success, good facilities, good coaching, history of guys making NHL. After each, I put, UND's record vs them. - North Dakota - Michigan - [42-48-4] - Denver - [161-138-16] - Wisconsin - [73-87-13]. As a side note, it surprises me how BAD UND's record is vs Wisconsin. Essentially the worst winning percentage UND has against the bluebloods even though Wisconsin is the weakest of these 7. - Minnesota - [137-145-16] - Boston University - [15-14-2] - Boston College - [12-11-1] I think Maine, Michigan State, Cornell, Harvard, UNH, and Michigan Tech miss the list. Going forward, Michigan State, Penn State, Notre Dame may be relevant on the level of the blue blood but without the history. I'm curious too how people view each blue blood. I tend to hear the most animosity from UND fans for Minnesota (rivalry), Michigan (arrogance, not scheduling UND), and BC. Maybe a little less so for Wisconsin (recently), Denver, and BU.
  24. yeah Michigan band is so annoying. They play the fight song 20 times a period even when there are so many good songs they could play.
  25. UMD gives off little brother energy way too much. Whiny play by play guys. Players that dive and cheap shot others. Fans that talk a lot of !@#$. They need to start acting like they've been there before. For all those reasons, keep Denver ahead of UMD.
