The title of this thread "ol kracker started is "Welcome my Natives!" When did "they" become "his" Who made him in charge

As always.. Thanks!

Bigmrg74, Nice article. Good win. But being I'm from the Saginaw Valley area, I would've like to have seen SVSU win, but as always, it's a great rivalry and the better team won this year. I'd like to see SVSU get beyond the early round of the playoffs and then meet UND in the championship to get their butts kicked by the Sioux. Maybe bring the UND Fighting Sioux name into more households in the Mid-Michigan area. But Grand Valley keeps getting in their way .

Good job JPar. 2nd shutout this young season! This was a good game for the freshmen to get it going.

Goal!!! And no chubby woman!

Very much appreciated PCM! It's great insight for fans who can't hear the show.

NDH, good to see you're back safe and sound after a lengthy drive back. It was a pleasure to meet you and your kids. Also, thanks for the hospitality your showed my boys and presenting them with the REA/Fighting Sioux flags. They appreciated it very much. What more can be said from your post. I can only add a few more observations (in no particular order)... 1. What more could a Sioux fan ask from attending this tournament? Although you'd like to see more there to support the Sioux, much less just supporting college hockey; for those that were there, I thought it was a good showing of Sioux fans/supporters. 2. It was great for a Sioux fan who can not always get involved in all of the action first hand (such as myself). To meet other fans such as yourself was indeed a great opportunity. 3. The fans of the Fighting Sioux hockey team show be proud of how the coaches, team and staff represent themselves and the Fighting Sioux name. While sitting in the lobby, Coach Hakstol and Berry came to me and introduced themselves. I didn't have a chance to get up to go to them. What a class act! They took time to talk with my kids, give their autograph and talk about the team. The team was very gracious to give out the autographs and poke some fun at the kids, even after the game. 4. Seen the person in the headdress (If I remember, it was blue). I personally don't know if they were there to support the Sioux or mock them, but either way, people like GK thrive like mold on baloney like that. Anyway... 5. As pretty much everyone has said, young team, early in the season, long way to go, lots to look forward to. 6. Someone mentioned that the ice was bad, now I never heard that but it seemed from where I was sitting, the Sioux had some difficulty connecting on their passes. Early in the season or the ice? Not sure... 7. Would've like to have seen the Sioux PP more productive but the PK was working hard and did a pretty good job considering how many time they had to penalty kill. 8. As early in the season it may be, the Sioux were not playing against any slouches either. Miami and MSU hold their own in the CCHA. I also think the Sioux was suprised at the speed of the game, at least with the first game against Miami. My thoughts seemed to be supported when I had the opportunity to be on the elevator with Finley and Lee after the Miami game and Finley expressed that they were too slow and needed to pick up the speed in their game. He said this not just with frustration but also determination that some things may need to be different in order to be successful. Lee agreed (although a little shyly). It was good to see that even though they may have won, they were still looking at ways to improve their game. Overall, it was a great experience for me (and the boys) to see the Sioux that close and personal. I wouldn't be able to do it at the Ralph or most other places. I don't know if I'll be able to see the Sioux live again this season, but I really look forward to what this season will hold for the team and its fans! Go Sioux!!

Nutter Center Here's the link for the Nutter Center if any one is interested in knowing where the tournament is being played. They have a nice link that give you a virtual 3-D tour of different areas/views of the arena. The goalie view is pretty slick.

I know they currently don't have an ice hockey program (I'm not aware of a club either). I'm not sure if they ever had one though. They do use it for the Dayton Bombers which is a AA ECHL hockey team and for the Wright State basketball program along with concerts, etc.

Pthhhhf... Division III. Certainly not like Division I. Does he have little man syndrome or penis envy? Is that why he's so bitter? (Easy... just a joke...)

Although it's from 2002, it is still a great article and very much relevant to this issue and just (once again) supports the argument to keep the name!

If there is no longer availability at the Marriot and you're looking for something really close and cheap (relatively speaking), the Ramada Inn in Fairborn (www.ramadafairborn1.com) is right next to Wright State University which is where the tournament is played (Nutter Center). I had reserved a room there for $74.00 before I had learned about the Dayton Marriot; thus I made the switch. It was about the cheapest hotel I could find (that seemed of any quality any way).

I'm surprised that KrackerCrumbs has not already been here spewing his/her propaganda and how well that meeting went. Of course, maybe it didn't go so well if the vote was 3-2?! I'm sure we'll hear that it went really well and those that voted against changing the name really weren't true Native Americans or some sort of rot.

I second that motion... GK has become that anti-thesis of the anti-Fighting Sioux name crowd. I'm beginning to think that GK is now only using this post as an outlet to attack and spew his/her hateful and ignorant beliefs against everyone who is not of his/her ilk. Of course, maybe GK can become the leader of this "change the name" cult and end up pissing everyone he/she comes across and end up really showing everyone what he/she really stands for; thus only hurting those who really have a point to make. I would think any rational Native American (or any one else for that matter) would look upon you as an embarrasment for the movement you claim to support and believe in. Of course, you don't care... people like you normally don't. People like you normally lose in the end and never see real victory. Time to click the ignore button...

I do appreciate your answer to Diggler's question. Seems to be a little bit more of a response than an attack. I can't speak to the specifics like PCM just did since I don't live out there but I don't think that changing the FIGHTING SIOUX name will change those items you've listed one bit. And I definelty agree with PCM's response about the chip on your (and GK's) shoulder. Your true arguement/point gets lost in it. (Reference a post I made yesterday). Listening is a two-way street.

WJR-Detroit AM Radio WJR-760 AM is a very large radio station in Detroit which can be heard in many of the Great Lake states, Canada and beyond. They have a poll regarding whether or not you agree with the NCAA decision regarding "ethnically abusive logos and nicknames." While Central Michigan University Chippewas probably come to mind to most here versus the Fighting Sioux, it just reiterates what most everyone here and abroad already know... it's a stupid decision. At this time 93% disagree with the NCAA decision while 7% agree (I think GK and KTF must have voted more than once ). Unfortunately, it doesn't show how many voted...
