Ethan MacKenzie getting drafted this year would be a huge benefit for UND. His NHL team would have his rights for 4 years instead of NHL teams offering him ELCs every offseason if he remains undrafted. He won’t have NHL teams trying to sign him every offseason like Jake Livanavage or Caleb McDonald.

Looking into the Spengler Cup and I find it hard to believe that Livanavage and Wiebe will not be playing the Mercyhurst series. Their last guaranteed game is on Decembers 28th. If they make it to the finals, their game will start at 5:00 am central time on December 31st. I think at the very least they could get back at 24 hours before puck drop if need be. I would be very surprised if they weren’t at least available to play. If they play in the finals, they’ll have 55+ hours to get back. -
Denver seems like the best fit. I would be surprised if they did not get a high end defenseman this offseason to fill the Pohlkamp role. In terms of UND, they are probably kicking tires on some of the right shot defenseman. If both Emery and Verhoeff return next year, which I think is likely, they’ll probably focus on Carson Carels.

Zellers, Reschny, and Spunar are in a tight race for NCHC rookie of the year! -
It’s a major by rule. You have to call it even though it was a little jab. Verhoeff just cannot put himself in that position. If there isn’t a couple of penalties called on St. Cloud in the 3rd, there is a problem. Reffing has been horrible.

Do they practice embellishment at SDSU
-
I don’t know if you know but it was also on sports center
-
I’m glad someone else caught that too

The was bush league on Reschny there. I don’t know how that wasn’t called

Awful

These commentators are so bad. Maybe the worst I have ever heard.

Cooper Simpson is currently leading the USHL in points. He is on an 85 point pace, which would pass Zellers and Swanson when they won USHL player of the year.

If they are able to keep all of their underclassman around, watch out. This team could be fun to watch next season. Losing Verhoeff and maybe Reschny for next season is a worry of mine. I really hope those two stick around for another year. -
Charlie Stramel to Michigan State, Isaac Howard to Michigan State, and Matthew Wood to Minnesota are all first round picks in recent years to transfer. It depends what you consider a blue blood. Sacha definitely came from and went to a blue blood.

Taking Kvasnicka over Zellers is absolutely crazy. Kvasnicka did not even make a bad Minnesota team this year. Zellers is the leading goal scorer on a top college team. -

It sounds like Rickwood will be out again this weekend. Dane mentioned Verhoeff, Wiebe, and Kernan as players returning from not being in the lineup last Friday. -
From what I have read about Carels, he’s super projectable. He is good, not great, on both sides of the ice. He is a complete player with decent size. The other two have noticeable flaws. Carels would be the ideal replacement for Wiebe next year.

The O’Neill spot will either go to him, Ashton Schultz, or Carter Sanderson. Carter Sanderson has had the best year out of the three and is potentially playing himself onto next year’s team. Hopefully we do not lose Reschny because next year’s forward group could be elite.
