Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe NIL for Canadians would have to be earned through Canadian groups. Of course, that doesn't mean money handshakes and bags of cash aren't being given to NCAA athletes under the table.

Culture/PK/depth scoring. Could see Menghini's numbers bump up as an upperclassmen
-
Found this piece from Jason Feldman back in 2022 when Menghini committed to UMD, and taking a quick look at his EP page, he hadn't played much in the USHL at that point, so you had to do a ton of projection from his Northstar Christian Academy and NAHL days. I've given Berry plenty of !@#$ for things he's done with recruiting, but I'll cut him a little slack here. From Brainerd to Austin to Fargo, Anthony Menghini set to bring his abilities to Minnesota Duluth - The Rink Live | Coverage of youth, junior, high school and college hockey

90%+ of wordmark jerseys in all sports suck. It's what most of the NHL does best, crest on the front

I cannot believe the Boston University team that melted down/no showed on Friday at The Ralph at the start of the season is in the National Championship Game...

Reminds me of the final years/days of Eaves at Wisconsin. IIRC, Brock Boeser (whose mom is from Wisconsin, grew up a Badgers fan because his cousin Dan played for the Badgers) decommitted from Wisconsin because Eaves & staff didn't realize Boeser was on the Waterloo Black Hawks in 2014-15 (he had been with the Sioux City Musketeers for 8 games in 2013-14) so when Waterloo played in Madison against the Madison Capitols, Eaves and staff were nowhere to be found, Boeser was beyond pissed.

Buium gonna help the Wild clinch their playoff spot. Not sure which team hires Carle if he leaves Denver
-
Thompson, that's big for Denver!
-
Ferschweiler a god for how he develops guys plus the last minute summer acquisitions of the Slukynsky brothers and Bump in back to back offseasons.
-
That Denver team was better and deeper

Plus most (Western) Canadian kids love that hockey is a priority at UND & in Grand Forks.

Most have noticed that a lot of the big time programs have stayed fairly quiet in the transfer portal. I believe that is a result of teams just keeping space to bring in their committed recruits &/or leaving space open to bring in high end CHLers this summer. Very intriguing nonetheless.
-
Yep, big time programs have to balance having the mercenaries along with the 3-4 year culture guys. If you don't balance it out well enough, you end up with Michigan (mostly mercenary approach) or Minnesota (mostly culture approach) esque title droughts.
-
I'm well aware, I'm just talking about most of the high profile guys who are draft eligible in 2025
-
Probably during the summer, after the Memorial Cup is over, and probably some after the NHL Draft. There will be teams who advise the CHLer(s) they draft to go to the NCAA to develop more instead of going back to junior.
-
And with Chyzyk being (Western) Canadian & having all of the minor & junior hockey connections, you better believe there are conversations being held with guys like Roger McQueen, Jackson Smith, Ben Kindel, Blake Fiddler, Cameron Schmidt, Cole Reschny, Carter Bear, Lynden Lakovic, Josh Ravensbergen, Braeden Cootes, Nathan Behm, etc in addition to the McKenna interest. Like I've said, sure, some will sign pro and forego the NCAA, but you better believe some will want to face better, age appropriate competition before turning pro. Very intrigued to see what happens.

NTDP Announces 2025-26 U.S. National Under-17 Team Names to know for August 1 2025 Recruiting Season

“The Buzz is Loud, and It’s Real”: Gavin McKenna Among Names Possibly Playing In The NCAA Next Season North Dakota and Michigan listed as frontrunners for Gavin McKenna, the likely 2026 NHL Draft 1st Overall Pick.

Schloss insinuated that Michigan has multiple silent commits out of the O that they're sitting on until the summer. Wonder if they do anything more in the portal

Southern Minnesota, Sherburn to be specific. Small farm town right off I-90. I love seeing hockey players from rural areas in the States make it big, considering that's extremely rare in USA Hockey history. Guys like Musser, Hobie Hedquist, Brody Lamb & Jaxon Nelson all from the sticks, in what you wouldn't consider traditional "hockey country" Minnesota.
