  1. Really need more production out of Swanson right now
  2. Gotta take advantage of the few good chances that UMD gives you. Right now, not doing that.
  3. Sorta the case, sorta not. Did you consider Kocha Delic a "top CHL talent" before he stepped on Miami's campus and started producing? I did, but most did not. Same goes for Teydon Trembecky at Michigan Tech. Oliver Peer (Bemidji State) and Giovanni Morneau (Lindenwood) were good in junior and then in USports for a year, coming into the NCAA at a much older age and have been productive right away. Others, you're most certainly correct.
  4. You'd think Arizona State and Denver would be near the top of his list, gotta get him on a visit to Grand Forks with Livanavage as one of his tour guides.
  5. Feel like Motzko only has a few years left, Raboin would be the obvious top of list for potential successors.
  6. Motzko "liked his recruits" and was skeptical of how good CHLers are (because he has no idea about major junior hockey and the talent it produces). Really bad arrogance on his part to not go and add talent right after he lost most of his top scorers at the end of last season.
  7. Such a pathetic Gophers team. Really bad that UND dropped the Saturday game to them the way they did. Woof
  8. Don't think Hardwick did anything against NCAA rules. minor/HS/prep/junior coaches with ties to NCAA programs like steering their guys in certain directions, easier when a relationship exists between the NCAA program and the coach at the lower levels.
  9. Pretty sure it has been discussed on here before: Jay Hardwick (Warroad head coach) being a UMD guy steered Shaugabay to UMD, plus it was speculated that Sandelin recruited Shaugabay earlier on than Berry did
  10. Gotta be excellent on the PK. Will be pivotal in the series against the weapons they have
  11. McKenna didn't accelerate, he's a 2007 and graduated HS in 2025 like all other Canadians. Verhoeff being a 2008 had to accelerate, same as Celebrini, Wood, Toews, Cammalleri did in years past.
  12. Like North Dakota, Michigan will lose a few to graduation and maybe a couple to pro/portal. Duke and Fantilli graduate, Robertson will get pro offers. Only program that Daxon Rudolph follows is Michigan. I'm interested to see how MacKenzie transitions to the NCAA next year, seems like he'll eventually be a solid high floor two way type.
  13. If a guy like DuPont goes elsewhere or stays in the Dub for his DY, I would be more than fine with Lin or Rudolph being consolation prize recruiting wins.
  14. Excellent find/pull, did not know that. Feels like he'd be an obvious fit in Grand Forks.
  15. Until he commits elsewhere or just signs an ELC, I'm still convinced that DuPont ends up at Denver or Michigan.
  16. I can't be the only one to notice how Ryan Lin (2008) has statistically outperformed Landon DuPont (2009) by a significant margin so far in the Dub. I would hope Chyzyk is in contact with Lin about coming in next year, would assume Lin has everyone after him (but of course he could sign his ELC and just attempt to make the league right away post draft).
  17. All of this is exactly why it was paramount to hire Bryn Chyzyk as a full time GM of the program. Roster management, planning, and recruiting are so big that the coaching staff cannot handle it day to day, month to month. Chyzyk's knowledge of the USHL plus his Canadian connections positions the program much better moving forward (provided the coaching staff and players can adjust to playing different styles of hockey).
  18. McKamey is nowhere near NCAA ready. 2009 bday he needs to fully dominate the Dub & grow into his frame before getting to Grand Forks. Coming off injury, so it's early, but he hasn't done a single thing that makes me think he's worth bringing in early
  19. Boston College noticeably worse without Perreault, Leonard, and Fowler, and didn't add any high end CHLers to supplement their roster. Conmy has gone quiet the past few games as well, their offense overall hasn't clicked other than Letourneau looking a lot better. Boston University still looks solid but a bit worse with Yegorov not saving as many pucks so far as he did last year. Their roster still looks very good for the most part. Maine and Providence College are adjusting to a lot of roster turnover, we'll see where they're at at the end of the season.
  20. It's a small fanbase because University of Denver is a small private university, undergraduate enrollment & thus alumni base is tiny compared to Colorado and Colorado State. If those state universities had successful D1 hockey, their fanbase sizes would be at least close to on par with Michigan State. Denver Metro is also very transplant heavy, thus tons of people in their mid 20s through 50s with no generational ties & thus less loyalty compared to those in the Upper Midwest who've been North Dakota, Minnesota, Minnesota Duluth, Wisconsin, etc fans for generations. Hockey is popular but still niche in Colorado from what I understand, and NCAA Hockey is extremely niche as we know.
  21. Chase Surkan (2009, Brandon Wheat Kings, Regina SK) is off to a rockstar start in the Dub. 11 GP, 19 PTS, 12 of those points being goals. 5'7 so you'd hope he grows but he finds the right spots on the ice very well already. Someone to keep an eye on for sure.
  22. Emery stays, Rangers are in no rush to bring Emery in, & Emery is in no rush to experience the s***show in New York &/or Hartford. Jubenvill is who I think will be in the portal, barring a major improvement the rest of this season. Of course, he could see bigger minutes next year, but I just think he'll get a better opportunity somewhere else. And yes, Verhoeff will be back next year, the NHL team who drafts him will want another year of NCAA development for him.
  23. Discretionary income only goes so far, Vikings, Wild, Timberwolves, Twins, Gophers Football & Basketball all compete with Gophers Hockey for people's income & attendance. Their fanbase size is mildly overrated
  24. Much better overall effort! Still want more offense but great to see them win a Cornell style/type of game!!
  25. Looks like UMD is back this year & Minnesota, despite the nice showings on night 2 against Boston College and North Dakota, is most certainly underwhelming
