Quincy was a great player and one of the greatest guys you will ever meet.

And yet it seems everyone says the Hawks season was game after game of offensive genius.

They matter.

Today once again proves quarterbacks don’t matter.

Eric Schmidt named head coach of North Dakota football

There is enough coaches in place so he can take his time and get it right. The DC had better be good or there will be little improvement overall. -
Yes. Actually embarrassing for UND. Hawks really blew it this year. Recruiting is very important but the talent that went through the past few years points to a bigger problem that is likely taken care of now. Check out how Kilty and McNaboe and their teams did this year.

Watching SDSU and Montana St. reinforces that Bubba and Freuchte were correct and the QB simply does not matter.

Don’t forget the spring portal.

Catching up here…did anyone on here actually watch a game this past season? -

Who’s that a reflection of as the season went on? It was so hard to watch games this year. -
I think the OC is getting way too much credit. This was an awful season. Take away Murray State and I’m not sure the offense was top 80 in the country. Teams knew they could sit back on defense. Montana State actually got caught in that. Of course they bounce back from that loss quite well and make a playoff run. Add in some unexpected monster TD runs and stat padding on 5 yard passes for the spunky QB and having Belquist during the season and the offense was not where it could have been. Maybe I’m the only one that watched Youngstown game. That last play was legendary. But hey, there is a cool video in the “war room” on signing day.

I’m not sure how it works but a head coach with more experience often has up and coming and younger coaches with them to pass the torch. I have no idea how well that works or how you interview for that. But then locally Freud and Roehl both were in that spot but left. Those two were strong coaches behind the scenes for a pretty long stretch.

Offense was great and we won every game. It was an incredible season. I was surprised Bubba retired but that’s what you do when you win a national championship. I’ll be glad to keep every single coach on staff.

How was the offense against the good teams? How did the spunky experiment work out? There is 5 coaches that stood by each other this season and didn’t do one thing or call out one thing during 7 game implosion. None of those 4 should even be a consideration.

Saving him and Jerry and a few other guys for playoffs.

There is a few streams of $ for athletes just like at UND. The big programs are really good at using all. I think it’s been mentioned but “non scholarship” programs can pay for everything and then some. Academics alone pays a lot.

I was going to be done with this for the year but Hentges was said to throw the best ball until he got put down the depth chart because a winning QB was selected. One of the biggest problems is none of the players or coaches are pushed or challenged for their spots. Snap the ball 19 bad times in a game, give up 2 sacks in a row, skip the ball to the receiver 3 times in a row, have every pass batted down, get burned on defense 6 times right up the middle. It doesn’t matter what position on this team…crickets. NDSU, SDSU, heck Bemidji all used second quarter backs as a weapon. Cam Miller stepped up his game dramatically being pushed by Cole Peyton and Peyton was a huge contributor the past two years. Did you see one time this year that anyone cared to adjust anything? Simon and Trey actually did good last year when they played. This year was an experiment on how far UND can sink doing nothing. A fabulous 2-6 and 5-6 record.

Pick your game but the end of NDSU and Illinois State stand out. Imagine losing 6 of 7 games and putting your hands on your hips and saying “yep, that’s the best we could do. No other options.”

Many, many, many times this season the team could have used fresh legs, fresh arms, and fresh height.
-
If anyone thinks it was all fun and well didn’t watch a game let alone every play of the season. These coaches do not go against each other and they were clearly riding the burning ship down together.
-
They obviously don’t take any advice though. It’s mostly crazy talk on here like rush hard to put pressure on the ball and throw the the ball accurately over the defensive players and bury the 3-4 like the Titanic.
-
Yes they do.

I would care about the coaches on your staff and players…
